Hi Shane these should work fine however if you have any external accessories such as AC or power steering(Although doubt it on a 280z) you won't be able to fit it. The 240z one only supports 1 accessorie and that's the alternator. It is smaller and lighter and therefore free's up some drive train inertia but all early Z harmonic balancers are fairly useless. They tend to break up and are no good for racing. I'll be going with an aftermarket one on my stroker motor. I'd say it would be fine on a street driven Z if it's in good condition.

The Haynes manual says to flush with Methylated Spirits. Just came across this thread trying to see if the brake fluid im using is ok. Seems to be fine as it's DOT3-4.

Sounds like Gavin Strongman's 260z. I really need to get the footage I took at the Nationals on the viczcar server so everyone can enjoy it. Just been so busy
  4. Check it out. http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?UsedCarID=1036301&TabID=3328&Alias=carpointau Asking price got my attention. :cheeky:
  5. I wouldn't say that.

Yes I'm very fond of the home market cars especially the 240zg(HS30-H) The 432 PS30 and the 432r (PS30-. They are my favorite Z cars. I hope to own an original 240zg one day . Welcome to our club. :rambo:
  7. From the look of it he's trying to work out how quick a certain engine revs. Obviously the weight of components in an engine and it's ignition curve will affect how quick it can rev. As for the "1/2MV2 Theory" I have no idea what it is but I'm sure an automotive book would have it. Maybe it's 1/2 x Mass x velocity sqr'd?
  8. Put it back on or use a full 240z front end. Looks tacky without it. Having said that I should take my own advice my 240z has had a naked rear end for a few years now.

  10. I tend to agree with both comments. I know how contradictory but it's more about common sense than anything else. I think the best thing to do is read the "How to modify your nissan Datsun OHC" By Frank (Insert last name here don't have book with me at work). He describes things to be wary of like accidentally hitting a water jacket. I think what you really need is patience. You could always pick up a junk yard head to practice on. I would get a pro to do the final touches and test it out on a flow bench. .

I didn't like the Gnose when I first got into Zeds. I think it's a combination of things that put people off. The first being the number of poor copies that have been produced and fitted. They really look naked without the light covers and flares and some nice Watanabe's. It's also the kind of thing you need to see in person. I know once I saw the Gnose in person I was very impressed with the way it finished off the car it also gives the car a more modernish look(as my friend said it babies the car). Very Ferrari reminescent. There is a far difference between this Ebay Gnose Z and some of the beauties you can find in Japan. I also guess it's an aquired taste rather like the old skylines C10, C110 alot of people don't seem to like them. I myself do but then again not everyone was born with taste hey Bill :rambo:
  12. Couldn't agree more really . Anymore pictures of that black beauty?
  13. Some might disagree but i tend to agree alot with this statement. I have found the Z to be a great handling car. If only I had the money to fix all the things that have worn out. Even in stock form the Z is a great handling vehicle. I've driven more modernish cars say from the 90's era that haven't been all that flash hot. Especially some of the hatch backs.

I have played True Crime on playstation a couple of years back but never noticed a Z I'll have to get a copy on the Xbox and see if I can spot it. Brian you are right the 240z just doesn't work in Forza especially with a High HP RB26.

I dunno I've seen a couple here in Melbourne and at the Nationals they are pretty cool cars.
  16. Better late than never I'll check with the one I have to see if it's the same distributor.
  17. That's great thanks for sharing.
  18. You can get the Aussie spoilers from a few places here. I think Lindsay at Z Spares has them http://www.zspares.com/catalog/

Yes they are replaceable without removing the units. It's not an easy or fun job though. They are standard bulbs that plug into the back about 3Watt some say 4W but the ones I got were too big and as a result burnt themselves out and on one of my gauges actually caused the plastic green bit that covers and makes the gauges green to fall into the back of the gauge so now my AMP/FUEL gauge is not the right colour it's a clear colour I've bought another to replace it. So just be carefull and to be honest I'd just recommend replacing with some 3Watt ones again. You can get kits off ebay for white faces and different colours if that's what you want.
  22. Mate I completely understand how you feel. Although now I'm working full time I don't have any spare time. When I have all the time in the world I have no money. Seems i can never win
  23. I've owned 3 Zeds and never had a problem with it. 2 had the non fluted bonnet(read:hood). I've had mechanical and an electric fuel pump. I think the problem starts when people remove the heat shield and standard air box's.
