Converting US cars
I know a guy who did this as they say it's 2g just on import tax. Then converting is not hard at all but by the time you've sourced parts and all of that gear it makes it virtually not worth while. Besides if you buy an Aussie 240z you get the Euro tail lights and a 5 speed

Shock availability in OZ
Thanks Mr Datto that's excellent I'll more than likely go through him then. Not a bad price either and shipping seems more than better than I was quoted. Oh well JDMwerks just lost a potential customer . Cute Avatar btw .

Can any one tell me anything about this setup?
Yes this is Gavin Strongman's car as I mentioned in the other post. He is running 3 tripple webers, a P90 head from memory, the E12 Module Distributor however the module has been converted to another sort I believe the same one I'm converting my Z to. The air box was custom made not sure what the block is but I'd say either N42 or F54 with flat top pistons. Don't know much about internals of the motor she seems to go quite well down the track. What did you want to know?

Shock availability in OZ
You could also try these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7963985301&category=33590 I have tried contacting them about shipping rates but have not got a response for the last month. However at their cheap prices I can almost understand that mentality however it's still not enouraging for me to spend my $$ with them. I've got my mind set of Tokico's since these are 5 way adjustable and seem to be the shocker of choice for my Z enthusiasts. I've got some quotes for shipping at around the $300US mark delivered to your door through air mail i think you could get cheaper but for $650 US odd it's not a bad deal i think even after converting to AUS. Shame I missed meeting you at the Nationals Steven I would have loved to discuss aspects of your car with you in person

Piston selection on turbo app.
Depends on your compression ratio you can run turbo's with higher comp ratios but you need to have a good fuel on air control system. You also limit how much boost you can safely run. FWIW i'd say it's best to build your turbo set up with a set of forged dished pistons and completely balance and shot peen the bottom end of the motor. It's false economy otherwise and a good bet you'll break something.

Ok Ok.. i'm gonna spill the beans.. check out my new project! haha
Cool there is my motivation. I know you recently didn't have much work coming through and i've been in a similar situation and my stroker build has been on hold. However after seeing all your gear come together I'm motivated to keep on keeping on . I've been doing some extra work so I hope it keeps coming my way .

Photos from Z Nationals 2005 Australia Goulburn
Yes it's a very nice machine it belongs to a guy name Gavin Strongman and he won best modified 260z and a couple of other awards can't remember them now. It's a very tidy car and he also gives it a good run on the track. No problems im glad you guys enjoyed them. It was great to be there even if i did spend half the weekend looking for a distributor module since mine decided to call it quits the day after i got to Goulburn but that's a long story and the good news is I got her home was worried she'd be left in goulburn until I could get a trailer and bring her back home. :pirate: My advice everyone running an electronic dizzy should have a spare module especially when going on long trips :devious:

I'm working on the video footage and hope to have it up within the next 2 weeks. yes there was a C210 there with number plate GDZILA or something but I admit it I didn't take any photos of it sorry.

2005 Nissan Datsun Nationals Goulburn NSW
Hey Steven sorry I missed meeting you saw your car around and video'd it at the track. I also took some photos of the event so those interested can view them here http://viczcar.com/v-web/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=15&page=1 I had my own troubles with the electronic module on the ZX dizzy. It decided to stop working and i eventually managed to get the car running again and back home. Long story and the main reason my car wasn't there for show and shine although it was at the Hotel car park just 2 seconds down the road from the park where the show was. Oh well all that behind me I had a great time the show shine track day and dinner was great. Oh and Brett I was looking for you but couldn't see you anywhere mate again saw your car and filmed you on the track too. Good to meet Jim and Geoff though.

Production of 260Z 2+2
Oh btw there is a series 1 260z and series 2 260z in Australia anyway. Main changes are the font on the instruments changed later 260z's had the fluted bonnets and some other cosmetics and small features like seat buckle indicators etc..

Production of 260Z 2+2
Yeah i think it was until 77 or 78 here. I can't recall seeing a 260z in Australia later than 77 here however.

Now I don't feel so bad
I believe on my 72 i have one socket but two filaments in the globe one for parker one for turn signal. THe 73 had two different sockets from memory and the actual lens was amber for the turn signal and the other half was clear not the globes. I'll have to double check on the 72 though.

The bloke must be dreaming
Yeah but car number 400 is in a very sad state I think you've seen it. Makes #160 look alot better that's for sure.
-
Now I don't feel so bad
MY 72 has the clear lenses the 73 I used to own had a clear parker and amber turn signal split down the middle they were. I prefer the clear ones myself

The bloke must be dreaming
The guy who claims he owns car #400 wants $4500+ and it's a complete wreck doesnt look to be many straight panels on it. Tell him he's dreaming

Stromberg 175 CD-2 SE vs. SU Carbs?
I think the flat tops on the 260z here in Australia were the same as in the US. I tend to agree that you can't really say Strombergs were garbage anymore than i can say flat tops are garbage. I'd have a read at www.ztherapy.com and make up your own mind. in my opinion you should take the strombergs back since you don't know if they are the correct size for your motor and if they are correctly set for your car with fuel metering etc.. You'd be best off spending extra money on a set of 240z style SU's and correctly building them to suit your L26 once correctly set the SU's shouldn't give you much hassles. Oh btw the best SU's in my opinion are Hitachi Su's and not the british made ones for reasons as described in the website above.

'72 on ebay
hehe the yellow car is not bad. I don't care much for the wheels or front air dam I do like the rear view mirrors. Only problem with the car i can see is the roll cage. I think it's a bit far forward and in the way. I've seen much nicer more practical set ups in a Z before. Why would you want a roll cage in a mostly stock Z anyway?

240Z racing and street videos
Wow where did you find all those videos? You must be crazier than I am
