Can't figure this out; How in the world do you install interior, rear view mirror?
Maybe you should provide a picture as far as I know what they say is correct.

paint problems: steering wheel
depends on the surface you are painting on. I think power coating would give the best results since it's an electron charge which causes it to stick. So I've read correct me as I've probably got it a bit muddled. Anyway I'd say power coating would be a much better and long lasting process.

240z vs 280z
So your saying that the L28 with all the smog gear off produced 170 odd horsepower but the NET figure was much lower when you put it all back on, than a stock 240z?

240z vs 280z
As a side note a friend of mine installed early 240z lights in a 260z and found it very simple and straight forward I think he managed to get it done in 30mins. The light bulbs will go into the 240z lights the same no mods there and you just have to cut a small section of metal in order to put the lights in. So if your worried about the tail lights it's not such a big thing to change. Personally I'd rather start with a 240z but that's just me. If you install a half cage in a 240z you get rid of alot of chassis twist and the whole car changes.

WHoo hooo!! Automatic to 5-speed swap Complete!!
Well done it's not a small operation but it is fairly straight forward. See how good it is to do this kind of work on your car and not pay someone?

OEM JDM Z Headlight Covers (SS Trim)
I voted $800 - $900 range. I know they are better quality than most of the repo's and the chrome trim is great but I couldn't justify them for that price especially on a normal non-gnose Z. If I put a Gnose on my Z the fender flares wing mirrors and headlight covers would be a must and I would pay $800- $900 but i just don't like the headlight covers on a normal Z enough for that price. I have a friend who is looking to build replica's from a set of originals he has if they are of the same quality and lesser price i'd put them on my Z. I'm sure alot of you would also. If I did buy these however I'd probably put duck tape across them to stop them from breaking.

Showus Yuh Wheels, Aussie!!
I guess you could say I like the Wat's Minilites, & Superlites look the best. I do like some modern wheels but I like being different to all the Commodore drivers and Rotory drivers and all other car enthusiasts here in Aus. :cheeky: Should give credit to Nick H for his efforts on Big Sam.

Showus Yuh Wheels, Aussie!!
Same as Brett's Z but on a friends car his name is Nigel NR240 on this board. They look much nicer in person than in photos I think.

Showus Yuh Wheels, Aussie!!
Here is an oldie with Simmons FR17's. I do love these wheels but I see too many other cars with the same style. Forgive the 10 min Photoshop job i did it a while ago.

Since I started this thread I think i should tell you how I feel about it. I don't want the owner thinking i just posted here to be flamed with bad comments. First the good points about the car. Paint looks good obviously not a perfect job but the red works well. The wheels are not too bad I don't know if they are my favorite but they work ok. I can live with the front spoiler seen it on some Z's before it's again not my favorite but i don't mind it. Good to see both bumpers still on the car. Rear view mirrors are good think original ones too. Dislikes. It's a 240z and not a 260z i believe with the rarity of a 240z in Australia you should do these kind of things to a 260z but hey that's up for debate. Big tacho looks way out of place. Rear lights could work but needs more recessing and more style rear panel is too flat. I've seen some rear light conversions before and this is actually one of the better ones. If it had more of a stock rear panel with an indentation like stock and there was some more smoothing around the rear lights individually so it's not like they were just stuck on it would be heaps nicer. It doesn't look easily reversible. The rear wing speaks for itself i think, not my cup of tea i think the little 432 rear wing would look so much nicer. The badge work is a bit of confusion between chevy and "NEW" Nissan personally don't like that. Wouldn't mind the blower out the bonnet but it's kinda the wrong style again more work on smoothing it in. I don't like the rear side skirt either but hey that's probably about it. So i don't hate it I've seen way way way more tacky things done to a Z but I must say I'd change a few if I bought it.

What decision has he made? I think your making a mistake myself. You'll always remember the Z the Neon you'll be over in 2 months when you see some young brat driving one with lots of bling bling on and the music ripped to some trance song you've never heard and probably gives everyone around a seizure. Remember a Z makes you different otherwise you just end up like another number in the crowd. If your not willing to modify her because you think you should keep it original then you are facing a dilemna that I face. However I'm going to make sure every modification i do is with a certain degree of period correctness and above all easily reversed. Yes I am thinking of things like white guages and bolt on JDM flares and fender mirrors i mean why not? So think about it and if you have cold feet then I'd say it's a clear indication you've changed your mind even if you have managed to convince yourself your making the right decision deep down you know it's not.

Sr20 Zed
Anyone see the videos at sr240z.com? See the 260z turbo hit the wall in the tunnel? ouch that's would have hurt . Kinda feel for the guy and can't imagine how i would feel if it were my baby . It's a good lesson not to get over excited going on a group cruise and only push yourself where your comftable. They went way too fast into the tunnel and obviously were unaware of what lay ahead. Be careful guys!

Yeah exactly that's why if you have your suspension too hard on the road you could end up hitting a bump and loosing control. Even though on a race track it might be an ideal setting.
