An Offer on my Z
George why don't you ask Alex if he regrets selling it? I'm sure that might help you make a decision. Contrary to what everyone else is saying sometimes other things in life are more important. Maybe later you can build your own Z how you want it although your current Z is how many would want it. . Just make sure if you do sell it the buyer is based in Melbourne so they can join VicZcar . That would sound fair enough to me. I have been given soem details on a guy who might be able to get them cheap here but I'm not gonna get my hopes too high, at least I've got 1 guaranteed so far. Thanks for the replies so far. Gavin.

Squealing brakes
btw took a look at car domain that's a nice looking 240z and an early 1. I like the decal down the side I've been wanting to get the same for my Z in white .

Squealing brakes
Ok well first thing to check is the metal shims that should go between the brake pistons surface and the brake pad it might be a little hard to see but check those anti-squeal shims first. If they are missing because some num nut was lazy that would be one place to look. The other problem could be the pads are too hard or the rotors(discs) are warped or scored. You can feel the rotor and spin it around as you do to feel for highly uneven wear patterns although if they are a bit old it is normal for some high low levels. Also with new brakes they have a tendancy to squeal as a normal thing that happens while they bed-in. So don't dispare just yet take a look with the wheel off and get back to us. Gavin.

LD28 crank what are they worth in the US of A?
Well the dilemna is that I've got the money ready and so far the $800 AUD is a good price. I've told the guy I'm interested and he'll be expecting me to buy it when it comes in although he had no trouble selling the last 3 as they went like hot cakes he said. So if I notified him that i already aquired one I'm sure he'd be ok as he can probably off load them easily. I figured they go on ebay for $300 odd there is one for $201.09 that I am watching now not sure if it will go much higher but with shipping it will work out $600 AUD or just under anyway with exchange rate. THe main problem is I am told by this other guy that they are in good condition and from the pic of the Ebay one it looks fairly clean if not polished and his P90 for sale looks awesome aswell. However we all know it could be a deceptive pic but the sellers Ebay history looks like he's a flawless ebayer. This other guy your talking about who is he and how much does he want do you know?

LD28 crank what are they worth in the US of A?
As the subject says I'm a little curious as to how much an LD28 crank would sell for on average second hand? I should be getting one in a couple of weeks off a guy importing a few to downunder however I've been watching a few on ebay and looking into shipping costs and it seems like it might work out a bit cheaper provided the LD28 stays under a certain price. . '75 280 Wants to Fly
Sounds like bottom end bearings as Beandip was saying. I shouldn't imagine it would affect the top half of the motor too much unless you've got a huge drop in oil pressure and been driving it like that for a long time. Spend the money rebuilding this one provided it was built properly have the crank inspected maybe find an LD28 crank and that will take it to 3.1ltr .

2+2 has a cigarette tray in the back of it. I believe it may be a tad longer but haven't confirmed that. What is the current condition of yours? I ask because you can get them repaired and that might work out better.

I'm not saying i particularly love my exhaust sometimes it's a big loud. At 120DB at 4500rpm that is measured just at the tip though. It's a bit excessive however I plan on redoing the entire system at some stage or at least making it a tad quieter. The dual pipes definately give the Z a different note and I think once i tone it down a notch it will have an awesome exotic note

Body Panel
I'd personally wanna fabricate most of it using metal. Someone good with metal work should be able to shape the area much like the above pics. However if it's too much hassle you might be better off going to a wrecker and getting them to cut the section out for a template or replacement.

On my Z i have the dual exhaust set up much like the rally cars. Currently it only has 1 resonator(glass pack) from the look of them on each side. The PO had used steel wool to keep it quiet and it was still pretty loud. At the moment I dont use steel wool to keep her quiet and she's loud as hell really echo's much like Tidoubleger24 was explaining it really screams at 7000rpm

So you think you can Autocross?
Carl I was about to say the same thing Drifting involves alot of skill and generally at dangerous and high speeds. There are some videos that show in car views and you really get to see just how crazy it is

L28 for sale, one of the best
Oh definately an RB is a cheaper and probably a better option in reality it's a smoother motor with more potential than the L-Series. I'm gonna go N/A to begin with and the full set of trumpets either tripple carbs or injected throttle boddies, I guess what I was getting at is your never really gonna be satisfied with the amount of power you have your just gonna want more and after forking out on bits and pieces i'll either sell my L28 as is and put an RB in mine or turbo the L28. However that would be a few years at least down the track and to be honest I like my Z's more original for now .
