2+2 has a cigarette tray in the back of it. I believe it may be a tad longer but haven't confirmed that. What is the current condition of yours? I ask because you can get them repaired and that might work out better.

I'm not saying i particularly love my exhaust sometimes it's a big loud. At 120DB at 4500rpm that is measured just at the tip though. It's a bit excessive however I plan on redoing the entire system at some stage or at least making it a tad quieter. The dual pipes definately give the Z a different note and I think once i tone it down a notch it will have an awesome exotic note

I'd personally wanna fabricate most of it using metal. Someone good with metal work should be able to shape the area much like the above pics. However if it's too much hassle you might be better off going to a wrecker and getting them to cut the section out for a template or replacement.

On my Z i have the dual exhaust set up much like the rally cars. Currently it only has 1 resonator(glass pack) from the look of them on each side. The PO had used steel wool to keep it quiet and it was still pretty loud. At the moment I dont use steel wool to keep her quiet and she's loud as hell really echo's much like Tidoubleger24 was explaining it really screams at 7000rpm

Carl I was about to say the same thing Drifting involves alot of skill and generally at dangerous and high speeds. There are some videos that show in car views and you really get to see just how crazy it is

yeah you will actually loose power down low especially without it.

That was awesome I love how agile those cars are. talk about stopping on a dime.
  9. Oh definately an RB is a cheaper and probably a better option in reality it's a smoother motor with more potential than the L-Series. I'm gonna go N/A to begin with and the full set of trumpets either tripple carbs or injected throttle boddies, I guess what I was getting at is your never really gonna be satisfied with the amount of power you have your just gonna want more and after forking out on bits and pieces i'll either sell my L28 as is and put an RB in mine or turbo the L28. However that would be a few years at least down the track and to be honest I like my Z's more original for now .

I think you can get away with it as and still have it look classic. check out my gallery http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=1316 Look for George's 240z Red color with the chev V8. his name on this forum is that ozzy guy. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=4024&sort=1&cat=500&page=11 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=4019&sort=1&cat=500&page=11 sorry i haven't got any more rear shots of the car but look in george's gallery. It's probably the best smoothing job I've seen

Haha yeah I appreciate them for what they are and would never hate them. I was going against an RX7 series 3 believe last night and I let him get the good take off first time around I managed to catch up get ahead but I couldn't really break away from him just a bit with each gear change. Next set of lights I showed him what L series torque was all about . He gave up shortly after but I was suprised he kept up the first time, however my motor hasn't all that much done to it I guess but still a testiment to the rotor :classic: . For the record I was almost going to get an RX4 over a Z.

  21. Hello everyone, if your located in Victoria Australia your more than welcome to attend the upcomming cruise on Sunday the 31st of this Month. For details see the page below: http://www.viczcar.com/Events/2004/Cruise4/Cruise4.html Discussions can be viewed here: http://viczcar.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=UpcomingCruises Hope to see some of you Vic guys there! :cheeky:
  22. Generally this is a good rule but the second rule isn't always a bad idea. Sometimes you know the history of the car well and it can work out for both parties if the car is a lemon it can strain a relationship just a bit . In terms of this car as I want to be useful and not just adding 2 cents of nothing relating to your original question. I honestly think you should stay away from this car. I haven't read the description often the photos speak enough for me and if the photos are good i read the description then. It appears to be in primer still and if that's the case you'll need to strip that off before applying paint anyway(more work). As was said i think you need to do a good job when it comes to shaving the bumpers and this car appears although i could be wrong to have been filled with bondo in that area. It is my understanding that 280z's are not uncommon in the states and that a L28 turbo can be picked up quite easily. This might not apply to your area however i can tell you that it's not worth buying a cheaply done car. I'll give a brief example a guy i know has bought a 240z that was converted to L28 with the injection set up etc. The wiring was not done properly and recently while a mate of mine was working on it the car caught fire just because the wiring wasn't done properly. I guess where I'm doing and you'll have probably read it 100 times over is buy something good to begin with that hasn't been botched together and sold half way buy a clean relatively stock car that you can modify as you please. I can almost guarantee it will save you loads more $$$ and you will have a better car in the end. :cheeky: .
  23. Nathan I like what everyone here has said so far I think everyone has this dilemna . As you know I had the 73 240z that was shell wise a great car(except the battery tray). However it just sat there and became nothing good looking back I could really have done a good job welding it and had I known my mate Costa then it would have been completed more or less by now. Not to mention she had nearly all the original bits infact I will be trying to buy her back soon enough . I think you should go with what your budget permits. I bought my current 72 because in order for me to get a $2000 pile of junk into the state mine is in already i would have been at alot more money than I am now. Having said that I'll still be pulling it down and spraying it and cleaning and polishing and replacing and etc. etc. etc. However I plan to have a full time job and I think my future budget will support it much easier. I think if you could find a Z similar to mine you would do the same am I right? The thing is your not going to buy a turn key car and not have to do anything to it for under 12k maybe even higher. There is always something, and just tonight I took great satisfaction in blowing away an Rx7 series 3 pretty sure it was turbo . The best part was knowing I had got her to run that well and hard myself . The hardest part of a project is getting started and staying motivated along the way. If you can get into it you'll have it done quickly otherwise it could take years!

I have a friend who has recently restored his Z he has a half cage in the back and he does drive it rather friendly however it's a fairly common thing with Z's. I wouldn't worry about it. As Chris said maybe check the area if possible.

I've seen alot of adds for this motor recently well probably 2 but yeah would be a good idea but I like my L-Series motor . I have heard of a couple of people tell me that they had friends who put a Nissan V8 in their Z years ago. I hear the Rover V8 is ideal because it's lightweight probably lighter than the Z motor . 440Z if you haven't already you should become a member at VicZcar and come on a cruise you'd be our first V8 Z member .
