Mr_Carter_s_BRE_replica
Was John Morton's car flared I seem to remember the guards been a bit more pumped out are you going to modify them to suit or leave them as they are? The car looks great btw I'm sure we all wish we had such a nice replica.

This is going to be a mean machine I'm going 3.1ltr most likely not 3.2ltr but who knows I'll check the cost of it when the time comes to make the decision. I'm looking at the websites you posted thanks for that really handy

Z related questions(Australia).
Yeah sorry when i say dangerous it's just the way I view it. If I was flying along and my wheels leave the ground I want them to return as fast as possible that means less weight to force back down. They are fine and I'm sure not that much heavier than standard Z brakes but for now I just wanna tweak the standard ones to get the most from them until I can go with a better upgrade. For me it just wasn't worth going through the hassle of putting the S12's on and finding a disc to suit it by the time they were installed i was gonna be up for around $400 at a guess. For a couple hundred more I can go with Z32 brakes and I figure that they were the better option for me. FWIW i never tested out the Toyota calipers on my car but I drove another Z with them fitted and definately noticed a difference when coming around a bumpy corner the steering felt heavier. I also couldn't believe the difference in weight when i picked up a Z32 caliper compared with the Toyota ones. So maybe dangerous is a bit over the top i mean they certainly will stop you quicker but it's just the way i feel.

Z related questions(Australia).
Really not sure what discs I'll be running I've just seen the brackets for adapting the calipers to a 240z strut. That's in the future for me so I haven't really concerned myself with it for now. Not sure on 280zx boosters but I've seen S13, S14 etc ones fitted I'm sure they would work well

Well I'll put you all at ease and explain why why why am I doing this. Firstly I think the rear disc conversion is probably useless i just wanted any opinions on it. From the sound of it really only good for "looks". I figured while i was working on the brakes then I may as well do all 4 corners but i will just fix up the drums. As for the cable I'm unsure about that needing to be replaced at the moment but yes it's a horrible job especially near the diff section. Some may remember i bought a set of the 4 spot calipers off the Toyota 4X4's S12W but these are not a good upgrade in my book. They are so damn heavy that the unsprung weight was what i would call dangerous for the sort of driving i want to do. I'll be using 300zx Z32 front calipers instead for anyone curious about the difference you should put the toyota ones in 1 hand and the 300zx ones in the other. However since I'm trying to build a stroker motor and my current brakes need servicing then I wanted to do a cheap upgrade to help the stock brakes work a bit better until I go with a better upgrade. So i was told the old race cars use this set up in classes where they can't do much modification. At the moment I don't do all that much track driving but it is planned for the future I think it's a safe way to really have fun in the car. I also have been enjoying the cruises I've been on in the Z with VicZcar but the brakes definately let her down coming down steep hills yikes they fade bad. That's about it really . -Gav

Sounds good are the LED's better simply because they will last longer? Do you know if it's as simple as changing the bulbs or does it require rewiring?

Z related questions(Australia).
Just a few questions I wanna do some work on my 240z next couple of days. First thing is I'm going to be replacing the rear drums and getting the shoes relined. I was considering upgrading to the ZX discs but I've been told this mod is not worth while can anyone elaborate? The second thing I'm doing is replacing the front rotors with ZX vented units and putting a spacer in the caliper to allow for the bigger rotor. Does anyone have some cheap ZX vented upfront discs that haven't been machined below legal limit cheap? The third is the speedo cable snapped when i was down at Calper park raceway I don't wanna buy a second hand 1 and have it break on me again so does anyone know where to get a good one from and if the one rarespares makes is any good? Next is the bulbs that suit the 240z guages. A long time ago i bought some for the centre three guages but they were physically too long and wouldn't sit in the caps(green ones) correctly and now they don't work for all sorts of reasons so I want to know where i can get a set of 4W bulbs that will work I'm told Hella any else know? There are a few other things but these are the things I want help with. I posted under MISC as I felt it was most appropriate. Cheers, Gavin.

R32 GT-R
I didn't know you bought 1 of these Alan. Nice car and great idea I just love the history of these Godzilla's. In Australia they dominated the V8 supercar scene and what's even more sweet about them is the fact they were practically banned for being too good. I can only imagine how fast the racing versions are

240 TV show
Chances are they won't know what there doing and they'll make the 240zx look silly

Go Veggie
just another thought maybe in 30 years we'll all be running our Z's like this .

Go Veggie
Pretty funny but at least he's trying I guess in some weird way . I respect the idea of using veggie oil as fuel but I think $40k is rubbish for sure. Unless it was researching being able to run on that fuel who knows. If I owned it which i couldn't see myself doing I'd definately change the paint job. First time I've seen an actual LD28 engine looks funny

HybridZ.org left me confused :S
hehehe oh well If I'm not happy with it I can always sell it and get an RB motor now can't i?

HybridZ.org left me confused :S
We still have to get my mate to dyno the thing just to see how much power it actually makes are the rear wheels. He's also said we should get her down to Calder Park and see what it does down the 1/4 mile. You have read about Norm the 12 second SU dude? Well the work done to my mates Z is very similar but I personally think alot more professionally done. So I'm confident his car will run into the 12's and I've been in the car also and it really does feel quick. I remember the first night I met him he was flying around in it and I had told myself he must be running tripples and when he popped the bonnet and I see 2 SU's I was so suprised. He says you "don't" really need the stroker crank but I've got my mind set on it now. We have a few options with it either find a second hand LD28 crank in Australia import it from America but it might be $$$ or actually get a crankshaft made. It's by no means the cheapest way to go with the engine I'm building. I had already came across a P90 an F54, the good distributor which i wish i knew where it was from I'll be posting pics to try and see who know's what car they are on. The crank which i don't have yet. I think you could swap an RB motor in cheaper than building the LD28 is what I'm saying but I just like an L-series
