  1. For anyone else on looking http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=7BSS they certainly look the part
  2. Just get Beandip to post some , personally with my car I didn't need a spindle puller it came out rather easily on 1 side at least the other was a different story. Strange but when I went to take another out from a wrecker I didn't have much luck on the 4 i tried. Only 1 of them came out as easily as the one on my car.
  3. Cool yeah it's a simple design just need the dimensions really and the font style as you say. Did you get one made or do you have other stuff made up for different purposes when you say they should have been able to help you out? It's not something I'll be doing just yet the bottom of the doors have some rust spots that would need to be taken care of first no use putting them over rusted doors. Just wondering if anyone had a link with pics and a price really. Thanks again.

  5. 1 of the members at Zdriver had 1 and he posted pics there. He was a member here too and from memory had a bronze 280zx. Can't think fo the name though. Try searching both here and Zdriver.com
  6. I'm probably gonna take a few photos of my Z then photo shop the sticker kit on and see how it looks
  7. Thanks Carl for where to look and thanks Alfa for the encouragment I've seen alot of classic cars with classic paint schemes and I think the 240z would look great with a periodic look. I was also inspired by a few cars like a HQ GTS with the GTS paint scheme. A VH SS in red with the black SS paint scheme. I also got inspired by the mustangs that had the same thing especially the GT350 and GT500's.
  8. Yeah what Phred said. The motor i am building will be at the 11:1 comp ratio and should be good for bottom end as well as good at top end. My mechanic friend is getting my cam made up for me with the same specs as his. I will try find out what the exact specs are. He was telling me it's a good balanced camshaft profile.
  9. I think the best suggestion so far is to limit your passenger to 1 person. That way you don't have 3 people or 4 people encouraging you to do something silly. How much easier is it to say no to 1 mate than 3 or 4? I know it's much easier without the pressure of more than 1 person. I think defensive driving should be part of the plan and you might pass your road test and your written tests but 1 day at driver ed would be of benefit to everyone. Surely with the revenue generated by speeding cameras the government could implement this after all isn't the revenue from this meant to go towards road safety anyway. For the record I'm not on my P's either but I do recall having a 2+2 and 3 mates in the car and since i was the first with my licence I was always under pressure to do silly things here and there. A limit on a P - Plate drivers car is also a good idea and we have this rule in Victoria. However how many cops know what cars out there have what power? I know alot of police are ignorant when it comes to cars sometimes this works in our favour but they should also be educated to know what to look for. -Gav
  10. I am wondering if I can still get my hands on one of these kits. http://zhome.com/Classic/Refresh/ORGRSIDE.JPG http://zhome.com/Classic/Refresh/ORGLSIDE.JPG I think a white color kit would look great on a red 240z. It's also something I've never seen anyone in Australia with a Z have. I am looking to be different and I think this is the ticket.
  11. Guess what guys, Just yesterday I did an advanced driving course at Calder Park. I had so much fun I would recommend it hands down Datto Zed. You will not regret it i learnt so much I didn't know about how to brake correctly and best seating position. We did all sorts of stuff from braking in wet conditions at 65 - 75 -85 and 100km/h then we did stuff like chicanes which i had a ball in the Z. We also did some courses mapped out with cones slalom? We had an egg and spoon race where we had a small tub with a tennis ball and had to complete the course as quick as possible without the ball falling out. I won that one in our group . I won a couple of events in our group and the Z impressed a few of the guys there. Even with the antique Z brakes I won the even where we had to pass through some chicanes quickly then speed up along a straight and brake again into a set of cones they called the garage. It all comes into how you brake at the end so lower performance cars had the same advantage. I've told my mum I want my sister and younger brother to do it also. As it really means the difference between life and death and can really help.
  12. You can get an electric fuel pump out of a Nissan Bluebird older model fitted with the L20 I believe. This is good for a carb'd Z. WHat are you running tripples? or SU's? Also how high is the compression? (Compression for torque related issues ).

Hey Victor I'm surpised they actually work quite well maybe it was the red centre's I didn't like on the photoshop examples. They are still not what I'd like on my Z but they do look good. BTW Ben I like your quote from Mr Morita
  15. Vicky I'm not that fussed over it being tame for the streets the way I see it the Z was never a great car for traffic even when it was brand new. I'm sure your Nissan restored Z still has it's quirks in traffic . Therefore I may as well make it a race car that can be driven on the street ehehe

I tend to disagree and think that the Cedric is nothing special well not to me anyway. There were a few over here in Australia but yeah they don't appeal to me like some other Datsuns do.. :pirate:

You beat me to it 2 many I was gonna say the same thing. An advanced ignition timing will cause the motor to run hotter. Combined with the higher idle when you switch her off it's very hot inside the chamber and the higher the idle the more likely it is to keep on ticking over when you get pre-ignition. It could also be carbon build up on the plugs or inside the motor in general. However this is less likely. Don't worry I know how annoying it is to have to stop it by using second gear ... :cheeky:
  18. Do you wanna hear the scary part I'm gonna be running ~11:1 compression on the new motor I'm building. However this shouldn't be a problem on the 98 octane we can get here in Australia
  19. Just use a thicker head gasket if your concerned. You will probably want to cc the head and measure how much the pistons come up above the block to work out the comp ratio from there.

  21. I agree an advanced driving course should be mandatory. I know of many people who obtained a licence first time and I would not say they are good drivers. I am yet to attend an advanced driving course myself but feel I should. I know when i get out on the track I'm gonna want some advice and training. However 1 step at a time until I can afford it.

  25. The only thing that made me think the thread was silly is the fact that everyone was doing exactly what Hybrid Z said we would. From the word go I didn't wanna play that game
