Early car for sale in Queensland
It appears I unsubscribed myself from this thread by accident when I was trying to change my email address so that this forum would send them to my new address instead of hotmail. All this talk has prompted me to call the PO of my Z and just make sure he still has the original engine block. He does and I just let him know his little baby is still doing fine :classic: . 240z in OZ I read through and understand what your getting at. I also noticed there was a bit of debating going on that was firing a few of us up . I have always loved Z's but I do love the ZG and 432R's so much so I've wanted to make mine into a replica but I've come to a stage where I figure it's not one don't make it one and maybe when I finish my degree(S) I'll be earning enough money to add one to my collection and keep my HS30 the way she is for the most part. Mine has an L28 that didn't bother me when i wanted my car because it was done well and the engine bay was mainly stock. Sure the head had been moded and everything but it was a little hot rod. I drive mine daily and yes it's a very nerve racking thing. I leave spaces between cars so that I have plenty of time to brake and often find people dodge in and out infront of me. I've been honked for going too slow by a civic when I was really just taking it easy the bitch was in some rush and her b/f yelled at me so at the lights I told him to take his $^!# heap and well you can guess the rest . I would love another car for daily driving I agree the HWY is awesome with a Z unless you have worn out Uni joints that cause vibration above 100 km/h . Seriously though traffic driving is nasty for the Z even reviews on the car 30 years back state that the clutch is hard in traffic and it's not a traffic kinda car. But that's just it isn't it? I mean the Z is a pure car it's meant to be driven and driven properly through the hills etc.. not stuck in traffic for 15 mins. I for one try to mod the car so that anything I do is easily reversible. Stock there fun to drive but modified there even more fun. I remember when i had to get roadworthy they made me change the muffler to make it quiet. I'm used to a 120db weapon. When I drove without it I really missed it, infact the car wasn't the same till she got back her throaty rough crazy sound . My point is that I would love to have the best of both worlds and I think i manage to meet that half way. At least I have the option to go back to orig or modded I guess and as long as you enjoy it, don't really let it bother you. I think its a shame Z's are disappearing off the road but at least it makes you something or a rarity and we may be a minority but I think we are all very knowledgeable and like to help each other out which is great. Can't think of the amount of times I've been to other forums and realised that most car enthusiasts have no idea what there on about simply because newer cars are not DIY friendly. cheers

Brisbane...SERIOUS RACE SEATS

Vented or Not?
Should have bought one when I had the money but decided to get the vented one for $250 and paint it for $500 ouch. The paint job was $^!# and after wet sanding and taking it back it didn't get any better the painter said he can't do much without going back to bare metal but I spent over $1000 fixing up the front of the car and removing water marks from the fenders. Should have just got a bonnet new and got it painted and I'd be happier with it . Ah well when I've finished study I guess I'll change these annoyances .

Brisbane...SERIOUS RACE SEATS
You seem to be clearing out alot of parts . I wish I had enough money for the webbers anyhow I think the seats would be a better idea for my car at the moment than the front spoiler but I wanna know what the seats look like from the front. I'm a bit of a Z car purist so mods have to be subtle or keeping with the cars design. I like my stock seats but the drivers one needs reupholstery as it's a bit ripped on the side from the years. Also do you have to use a harness with these? The car is street driven hasn't seen any track time since I've owned it if ever might in the future but I like the comfort of race seats and after a ride in my mates Type R Integra I wanted a set of Recaro's. Sorry to be a hassle but trying to decide what to buy depending on priorities. Oh and BTW it says comes with sliding rails etc does this mean it's just a bold in job? Don't wanna have to fab anything or do welding etc... Thanks again

Vented or Not?
Can always leave your bonnet slightly open like those little ricer boys I hear you can buy OEM Bonnets still but there around $600 AUD I've been thinking of this more and more lately. However it's not the most important part to be fixed just yet

Triple Webers or Dual SUs?
Interesting read think I took it all in. I can understand the fuel expansion issue I did a physics course and remember that fuel expands alot in heat. One of the reasons I installed a vented bonnet on my Z was because I thought it would help with dispersing the heat and I wanna build a heat shield and have considered header wrap. It's really amazing how much better my car runs on a cold wet night compared to a hot/mild sunny day. I tried to purchase Scott's video but I don't think I can without a credit car where did you go to get it? I would also like to rebuild my SU's and get a kit for it as I'm in Australia and can't send my carbs easily enough to him and it would work out very expensive for me. I was beginning to give up on the old SU's and try tripples myself been having trouble with detonation in my car especially on warmer days. I think I'll give them a go now anyone know where I can buy just Scott's video? Or possibly the rebuild kit aswell. Thanks and good to hear you sorted out the problem.:cheeky:

K&N Question
Now that's the kinda shine I want off my engine. How did you get it to shine like that did you use different grits of sand paper? I wanna get the intake manifold done also love the mirror like shine. To answer your question bart it's probably better to get one of the filters modified to accept the hose or get a oil breather box made up otherwise you'll dirty up your engine bay with that oil muck. Whatever you do don't block it off also.

My 240Z Dyno 3-Oct-02
What internal mods have been done to your engine if any? 141Hp would be at the wheels right? so around 100kw at the wheels. Correct me if I'm wrong. Oh and what engine head are you using?

original rear spoiler?
it was Nathan(Zpeed) he only wanted $150 for it, think he sold it to someone ask Zr240 he sold that one to Nathan . Never actually saw it and I agree black would look great, However I think if I ever do it I'll put the Flares on and Gnose or maybe front spoiler. By then I think I'd be over drilling and wouldn't mind hehe. But yeah black all the way.

original rear spoiler?
There not actually a BRE spoiler but they were an optional spoiler as part of the 432R range. It was made by Nissan alright and were often fittted by dealers. I don't know if it's possible to get them new from Nissan but there are a few replica's that are being made. I like the spoiler but passed up on one because I have a thing about drilling into the sheet metal on my Z. Just can't do it well yet anyway.

260 2+2 for sale
Hey Leeroy I know someone after a 2+2 a friend of mine actually, he's seen my 240z and well that's done it for him. I'm not sure if he's willing to buy a car yet and no reg or Rwcert might not be a good idea for him. It will be his first car and I don't want him to have to go through the same kinda thing I did when I got into Z's. I'll let him know and see what he says the only thing then is finding a time to look at it. If you could help us out with some photo's aswell that would be great . Sorry to hear you don't wanna sell it but maybe later you can get a 240z instead :cheeky: . I still regret selling my first 240z but it was neccessary. Cheers

Early car for sale in Queensland
240z in OZ that actually pleases me to see these cars are going up in value as the owner of my 240z said to me these cars are very underated and of course rare too. No I wouldn't pay 12k for a MG but that's because i don't like them personally. I understand where your coming from but these cars are not becoming any easier to get and lets not forget the market back in Japan who like to buy early Z's at a good price. It's sad in one respect but in another I'm actually quite glad.:tapemouth

Four FairladyZ 432's were purchased by the Fuchu Police Force, and used for high speed pursuit on the Chuo Expressway in Tokyo - According to Brian Long. http://zhome.com/History/Images/432PoliceZ.jpg from my gallery. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3548&password=&sort=7&thecat=500

Dellorto Vs Weber
Been speaking to a friend who owns a set of tripple delorto's and he says there the same thing as webers is this true? or does he just mean they do the same thing. Thanks for the info BTW guys I really appreciate it. I think my Su's might need rebuilding as they keep coming out of tune. Might get a hold of a SU rebuild kit. Anyone had experience with tripple SU's on a 240z? Someone was asking me if I wanted a set but am unsure any suggestions? Thanks

ignition of 260z--problems with tacho
It may have worked fine before but I don't think it's anything to do with the new setup. Well it could be you've disturbed it or may be running a bit more power through it but 260z tachs are notorious for playing games. The 240z ones were a bit different cause they were made by a different company. If you go to a wrecker you might find an alright one but usually they'll give up again. Try find someone who can rebuild them for you or you may just have to replace it's guts and use the 260z tach face and needle. I had a 260z and the tach never worked, a friend of mine gave up and bought a autometer one.

Help; Driveline Problem
I tend to agree when you replaced the uni joints did u do the main drive shaft also or just the half shafts? These can be a bit noisy when accelerating or reversing initially. My uni's are stuffed also but I haven't had time to fix them up yet thinking of doing a swap to 300zx Turbo HalfShafts(Z31) i think. I can get it done for around $300 just gotta confirm I can unbolt them and slot the old uni's in no problem as I dont like making mods that I can't undo easily for originality sake. Apparently it also makes the car alot smoother.:classic:

specific question on rb26dett swaps
Most guys use the Rb25DET 5 Speed box as stated above. Some people have used the 26 box as also stated above but there isn't much documentation on it. I believe it's the same gearbox as used in the Silvia Turbo's. :classic:

Check THIS out! S20 engine in So.Carolina...
well I guess if he's not using it for himself then he only really stole it to make money and therefore that would me worse IMHO than it would be if he took it with the idea of using it in his own car like a 240z or C10. I guess part of me would be tempted to do what he did if I found the same thing and part of me knows it's wrong and for the record I most likely wouldn't take it instead I'd try contact the owner and ask to buy it.:classic:
