Vented or Not?
I have installed a later style vented bonnet on my 240z because I didn't want any problems with vapour lock. I wasn't sure from the start with it and now I think I prefer the bonnet without them totally. The one I had before had custom vents that were alot more period suited much like e-type jag ones that bonnet was driven into. So I just wanna know what your opinions on them is as I'm considering changing back to non-vented despite the money factor. Also anyone got a good condition one in the Melbourne area without bog???

Early car for sale in Queensland
That 240z looks like a good project shame it's not in Melbourne to take a look at. BTW Steve I didn't bother with that other one in melbourne that was number #91 or someting he wanted 12k and I couldn't go along pretending I was interested at that sky rocket price .

Check THIS out! S20 engine in So.Carolina...
Well there's 2 ways to look at it really isn't there? In one way the engine was doing nothing sitting there and at least now someone will actually put it to good use. On the other hand it's not nice to just take it, at the very least he should have asked if he could buy the engine off the owner. I must admit though it would be tempting as i'm sure alot of us know sometimes if you ask someone to sell it they say no, it's not like they are using it but they just don't wanna sell it. At the end of the day I'm not gonna fuss over it I am a bit jealous cause I would love that engine . If it shows up for sale it's a small Z world and no doubt someone here will see it. Anyway interesting conversation I wonder if he'll give himself away a little more . Just by looking up his posts you could find out a whole lot about him like Phone number, location , where he shops etc... you can narrow him down a bit then there's photo's of cars etc... taken at his house street signs be right back .

What did you want for the Early SU's and are you willing to ship?

260 z on ebay
I think for a reasonable price I'd take it provided I had the cash. I would make it my daily driver and put the mesh grille in and change over to Tripples. The 4 seats are great for mates and I don't mind the bright yellow change those mirrors for the bullet style and I think it would be a great car. Wonder if the owner is neg. and willing to wait a couple of months????:classic: oh and I'd loose the rear wing .

Nice Z photo
Everytime I see posts like this I wanna modify my Z to go even faster . www.darius240z.com he seems a thrill seeker with his motorbike stunts. I like the car personally it's pretty clean . but there are alot of butchered Z's out there this isn't so bad.

water temp
@ beandip yeah it shouldn't vary much not sure on the exact temp but generally the Z shouldn't go far past halfway if at all. Hope that helps:classic:

1969 240 parts
in Australia they stayed the same thru all S30 years till S130.

1969 240 parts
Only thing I can think of for early Z's around the front bumper is that the headlight buckets(I call them SugarScoops) were made from fibreglass not steel like the later Z's. In terms of bumpers they had skinny bumpers for US models and anything else like the overiders etc.. were optional as far as I know

smaller bumpers
Ouch did he have the number of the rear ender offender? :stupid: . $1600 that could do alot for a Z.

What is attached to rear deck?
Are you refering to the cover for the spare tyre? It's tehre to stop the carpet sinking when you put stuff in the boot and gives it a firmer finish I guess. Should just lift out no problem
-
What is attached to rear deck?
Yeah if Zkid is right it just pops off but it might break the little plastic clips, they never designed those interior pieces to come out nicely they always break on me . Otherwise I'm not sure what your talking about can u attach a picture? I had a look at your project don't be put off by the comments I made on the photo's I'm mearly stating that I know how much work is ahead of you and good luck .

smaller bumpers
My rear bumper is missing for 2 reasons:- 1.) I don't mind the look. 2.) It's very costly to rechrome these items. Thanks for the compliments Mick how's your Z going anyway? I saw your car turning left off Glenferrie road down I think Malvern road but you didn't see my Z I was on the way to Uni :classic: . I know a while ago you wanted a new front bumper you can get them for roughly $300 from Zworx call Warren at PH: (03)95875500. I agree the 280z bumpers are awful looking comparing them to the earlier Z's but as you say it was a safety issue. On the issue of placing 240z valance on a 280z being an Aussie it's a bit hard to go from experience because we didn't get the 280z's. However I do remember some difficulties associated with it. Keep in mind the bonnet and front wings(fenders) are the same on all early s30 series Z's in terms of dimensions and should fit any Z. Forgot to mention I'll also be putting the rear bumper on as I know the results of people driving into the front of my car and would hate to have the back of my Z damaged by some moron who can't park and won't leave a note either .

Tell Me Yours I Want To Know
Buggered beyond repair 10 years ago could mean something different today . As long as the shell is intact and not smashed up then in my opinion it's not beyond repair . Finding some of the parts for it could be a nightmare but anyone taking on this kind of thing would know it's a long term thing anyway.

How wide is too wide?
I realise that it may be illegal but I'm more interested in the problems associated with them sticking out as in:- Will it cause handling problems? Should have been more specific I guess .

Anyone interested: 79-81 Custom Leather Bra with 280ZX on front
Well unfortunately no I'm not I don't have a ZX and this is probably not the place to really try sell it as were mainly early Z nuts. You can try Zmefly but he has an airdamn that might get in the way, maybe try on a ZX board or at hybridz.org. Good Luck.

smaller bumpers
The only way to change those bumpers is to get ahold of early 240z ones or 260z ones. However in the US as I assume that's where you are, the 260z were slightly bigger than the 240z ones. Here in Aus the bumpers remained the same from 70-78. Some people have made fibreglass bumpers but you may have trouble fitting them. there's also a couple of air damn's which replace the front valance and bumper area I think available through motorsport auto. Does that answer your question? :classic:

How wide is too wide?
Just curious as nobody has ever said or mentioned to me, but I'm curious about what's the law or safety concern with having wheels stick out of the wheel arch? Interesting Zedrally I never realised it was illegal I wonder if my Superlites are same on the front and back. I know that my old 260z didn't have same sizes on front and rear but it still managed for Roadworthy.
