Hi Guys, Has anyone produced a good step by step tutorial on re-trimming S30Z seats? I found this. http://woodworkerb.com/home/datsun-240z-rebuild/seat-rebuild/ However my seats were already re-trimmed once and I'm not sure they were done correctly, just looking for an example of how things should go.
  3. I would not be parting out early 240z's but I'm glad folks do as it gives me a chance to get parts Congrats Jerry. Let me know if you want a Rally Clock for this 1?
  4. Mike when I get to the garage I'll take a photo. Might be good to start a new thread on the topic. To my knowledge they are all clear no tint (unless an owner decided to tint it later). The rear louvre's were quite popular as the Australian sun is quite intense...so tinting wasn't that common on S30Z's.
  5. It was also used in all years of HS30 delivered to Australia. Strange I've always been envious of your vertical defrost glass. Didn't think they were worth $2000 without...

Thanks Kats, I may need some of these wheel nuts in future! It would be great to reproduce them. By the way is that center cap for the Works Style Mag (Kobe Seiko) wheels? I've never seen them fitted on any of the works rally cars.

It was a 280z 1/4 panel (US driver side) and it was half cut where the dog leg section is.. So yeah $250 is reasonable..

I love these Kobe Seiko wheels, 1 of the best looking wheel for an early S30Z. Alan knows that I'm working on getting a set here in Australia... I'll let you know how that pans out... Are those wheel nuts still obtainable?

I really like those colour combo's also. I am not a huge fan of S30Z's in white (a bit too plain looking) but with a red or blue interior I really like the contrast. This white on blue C2 Corvette looks nice with the blue interior.

Kats what about the stillborn Fairlady 260ZG 2/2 ? More info here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14263-jdm-fairlady-z-s30s31/?p=190142 Any thoughts about that concept?

I'm guessing this is the 1 and only LHD powered S20 that was discussed in DATSUN 240Z Engineering Development? http://www.lulu.com/au/en/shop/hitoshi-uemura/datsun-240z-engineering-development/paperback/product-22879948.html Page 50 Chapter 3. Prototypes: Car No. 11 230HP G8B engine with triple webers. Car No. 3 180HP G8B Triple Solex. Are you dreaming of what could have been Kats?

The aquablast process should sort of shot peen the surface in a way that makes it hard for oil and grease to repenetrate the surface of the alloy and therefore it should wipe clean again with some degreaser. I had it done on my valve cover (wish it was a 2400 OHC cover) and E31 cylinder head. https://goo.gl/photos/AqiuVue5sXrHGLyq5 Definitely recommended.

Hi Kats, Did you send your SU carbs to Ztherapy in the US for their rebuild? Did they modify them to have the roller bearing on the throttle shafts?

That exact photo is my desktop wallpaper.

It will only be a matter of time before a PS30-SB reaches the $1M dollar mark in my opinion.

Kats is that the noise we can hear on Ando San's Z432-R replica?

Since we're on the topic, I feel like someone may have mentioned this before. But I can't recall now. What is the purpose of these brackets on the lower radiator support panel? The photo is car HS30 00836 - yes she's seen better days...

I'm pretty sure I've heard of using Sewing machine oil also, but I can't see what viscosity this is. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Singer-Sewing-Machine-Oil-100ml-bottle-All-Purpose-Industrial-Domestic-/361836074079

S30Z's appeal to a wide range of demographics. So for that reason I kind of see them like the Porsche's in that they will always be popular. Same with 60s era Mustang's, Camaro's etc.. I don't see their popularity declining for a long time.

I did not know you could find old listings that way, thanks for the tip! It will be incredibly helpful in future.

Yes you're correct I had a hard time getting the graph to do what I wanted. I was trying to show prices over time. I think since there has been quite a few of these listed recently the prices have slowly come down probably due to the lent up demand being released. There was another cover before that which sold for 800 USD but I didn't have the item ID saved.
  22. It went far cheaper than I expected... maybe the next highest bid was too low?

2400 OHC covers and their values over the last 2 months on eBay. Yes I was bored..

Hey Jack, Bit of a thread revival some 10 years later, but... BBQ-240 might still be out there, HS30 00741 was last seen in a barn in country Victoria. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/?p=192123 Photos here: https://goo.gl/photos/RMV6rBemLFrcaGPi8 Looks like it was going to be turned into a Rally or Race car and was just a shell missing many parts. From a member on the site Doug. Incidentally your Fairlady 240Z-L has changed hands a couple of times recently too. Lovely car.

I believe the plastic cover was from a late model L28 (perhaps Nissan Laurel in Japan), yes it has scratches. Yes it's ugly, and no it's not worth $2,000 USD - at least not to me. For some reason they are popular in Japan and tend to fetch $600-$700 AUD in better shape than that 1. But I can't bring myself to like them, 1 of the things I like most about the L-GATA motors is that big alloy valve cover.
