Yeah I understand alright. I tried to read about the Holden Statesmen cause it's so damn ugly (seen on front cover below 260z 2+2 Gnose). I felt that they were being harsh on the little Z there was a number of critisisms about it. So I thought I'd see what they thought of that ugly unit and couldn't find much bad about it and we all know here in AUS how bad those old holdens are :classic: . But got sick of the article really quick and the other problem is that the articles skip heaps of pages and then continue at the end of the mag????.... The write up on the 432 is cool and the read about the celica's is funny cause I hate those celica's I see them as the Z's rival and can't see why anyone would pick such a car over a Z back then. But yeah the mag is a bit ordinary if not for the Z's I wouldn't read it.

Nathan I'm interested in the Bre Rear wing, The bonnet (non vented) and possibly front spoiler let me know. You still have to show me what the wheels look like as I haven't seen them up close if there good maybe we could swap my panasport look a likes (superlites) and pay you the difference. I think my name speaks for itself, although I've always been called Doolan by my friends it's my last name and yes it annoys me too Kmack :classic: . My sister has the same problem as me her friends call her doolan also. Anyway I had the nick 240z at Zdriver.com but here it was taken. So I decided Gav240z as it's good for people to know you by name and it's something I can use at zcar.com and hybridz etc.. even though I mainly use this forum. Carl your bambi killer story has got me thinking I could do something similar my 260z managed to kill 3 cars in it's accident. Some WRX "AKA boy racer" pulled out infront of me from stopped traffic and I tried to avoid him and the parked cars but alas no space and ran into him then hit a parked car which in turn went into the car in front. The good news the 2 parked cars were ticket inspectors cars. The WRX had more than 4k worth of damage and my 260z was written off. I managed to Salvage it's L28 P90 head a rarity of an engine here in AUS.:classic: But my new car the red 240z in the gallery can't really claim to what the 260z did. I wanna call it something like Eleanor in gone in sixty seconds but not sure what to call it yet??? Any suggestions???

Yes it is a common problem that the sender unit on the Z screws up but it could also be one of the bearings for the crankshaft. Replace the sender and if no luck try a good guage aswell. If this does not help get it checked with an external tester otherwise you could end up screwing the head on the engine. Gav,

No idea on the color mate it is nice. The front of the car is completely different though.

Why mess with perfection

The Z above has R32 Rear lights I believe. The R33 are closer together and the R34 are different again. I have included a picture of what I'm on about. I still prefer the original rear lights but I would however not mind the look of these either. I do like the R33 GTR wheels on the one above very sexy indeed. :classic: Still can't stand the one above no matter how many times I see it. It's up there with the rear hatch cut out treatment in the ugly department.

Sorry if it seems I've come across slurring you Graeme. I just love the way the 240z looks without body modification. I especially dislike wild body mods that make it look like a 80's retro rocket. The original post was asking what we thought of it. I did just that told him what I thought. I agree your car do what you like no problems there. As you can tell I luv my 240z the way it is . It's only because I feel the car is the artists impression I wouldn't take a picasso(think that'show it's spelt) and scribble on it cause I thought it looked ok that's just wrong :classic: . Anyway not trying to preach just giving my 2Cents. From the pictures I've seen your car looks like it will be very nice keep up the good work.

I absolutely hate it, looks repulsive the 240z rear lights are classic and look awesome. I don't mind the skyline round lights but I hate that.

It's important to note that in AUS we got points distributors with all 240z's and 260z's up to 77 I believe. We never got the 280z with fuel injection. So our Z's had the points dizzy(distributor) and boat anchor carbs till 77. When the ZX appeared we got the electronic one. THanks.

I put my money on the points. If not the points it's probably a capacitor of some sort . The points is inside the distributor u can move them with your finger apart and let go and they snap back together. Newer distributors on fuel injected Z's were electronic and did not need points. They have two circular tips on arms. Refer to the Haynes manual on setting the gap. I bet they fused together from what he's explained. Gav,
