70's pinstripes and other cool details...
Thanks for that it's exactly what I was referring to. It's not exactly what I'd like on a Z but it's down the right path. That sort of style has made a bit of come back recently and it would be good to have that sort of thing on a Z. I think the old BRE cars had a similar thing with 240Z written on each side of the hump. :cheeky:

My 71' 240z project ... =)
I understand how you feel, I have the same kind of attitude and if your anything like me, which from the looks of it you definately are, then you'll build a top quality car.

1977 280z Zzap
I think there great, very 70's and a rare item, I haven't seen one for sale in ages but then again I'm located in Australia and we didn't get them here. When I say that I guess I mean I haven't seen any posted on websites or ebay.

Custom Chopped 240Z
Yeah I agree I stumbled across this car a while back probably when I was on cardomain for some reason or another. It should look pretty wild when it's done. I don't know how tall he is though but even if he's not too tall he'll need to work out a way to lower the seating position quite a bit. I know with my harder suspension and my Recaro's my head comes closer to the roof than I'd like. Your right Dave it will take lots of hard work and dedication let's hope it doesn't end up a discarded project car.

70's pinstripes and other cool details...
Haha I thought the RB26 was funny aswell when I saw a few forums with some purists going nuts about it. Some of them were slagging off the motor because it was Japanese and one guy chimed in and said all your American V8's are built in Mexico anyway :lick: . I'm not a big fan of the chrome over the wheel arch but on that car on Ebay I thought it was ok. A guy in a 2+2 nearby here an elderly gentlemen has white wall tyres and it looks quite cool I think. It's a very nicely looked after 2+2 probably one of very few still around. I love the 70's side stripe like the one I photoshopped and I'm probably going to order them over from motorsport auto soon. I've just been toying with the idea of a unique paint scheme, nothing outrageous or ricy but more subtle and keeping in the character of the car. On the Z the bonnet has that nice hump and I like the idea of some form of pinstripe around that region much like what is on the Ebay car I posted above. In Australia the new BA Falcon's?(Not good with the ford's and models) have some form of stripe on the bonnet like this especially on the XR6's and BOSS 302's. I was hoping more people would have some images to share though.

70's pinstripes and other cool details...
Yeah the Zapp is pretty cool it's a shame we missed the Zapp and the Black Pearl models in Australia. I guess what I like about pinstriping is it can help make the lines of the Z stand out a bit more. My old 73 was red with an orange pinstripe down the sides but it was a bit faded and it was hard to really see what it did for the car. I just look at my car sometimes and find it a bit naked without badges, and rubber trim on the bumpers I think I'll be sourcing those bits slowly. If anyone has seen Overhaulin a show like monster garage and pimp my ride but better IMHO the guy who does those cars like to make use of those kind of paint jobs that bring a bit of the past up to the present. See the website here: http://www.overhaulin.com/ :cheeky:

70's pinstripes and other cool details...
I just saw a car on ebay which caught my attention because of the pinstriping on the bonnet and a few other body details such as the chrome around the wheel arch's. See here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1972-Datsun-240Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ4602734021QQrdZ1 I've seen a few members with some old photos of Zeds they owned in the late 70's - 80's with some (dealer)? option details on their z. I'm wondering if anyone has any other pictures of some cool 70's style paint jobs/pinstriping/body details etc.. I'm hoping to get some ideas for a period correct looking unique paint job/scheme.

Stainless steel header??
I believe it's a problem with the steering rack and the rod that goes to the column.

Global warmin, Montana and a 240z
We have had the exact opposite here in Melbourne Australia. On New years day it was 43 Degrees Centigrade. That's 109.4 C Fahrenheit. It was too unbearable for a drive in the Z though the air felt so hot it was like a heater was on your back. I must say though I have been able to take the Z out for a spin more often. Wish we got snow here in Melbourne..

Syncho Problems??
Good suggestions and I had also considering saying this but what lead me to believe it was a synchro problem was the fact that he was only having trouble with 1 gear and I often find my 2nd gear doesn't like downgearing as much as upgearing. The rest of the gears are fine, seems like 2nd gets the hardest working in gearbox's.:sleepy:

Syncho Problems??
I'm fairly certain this is a synchro problem, i've been having the same issues with my gearbox recently and have changed the fluid which has helped but it's only a matter of time before I need to rebuild the box.

spyware blocking
Your own website is giving you spyware. I just went to visit it then and noticed alot of popups for winfixer which is a spyware program itself. I suspect these people are advertising through your hosting service which is freehomepages.com and this is where the source of your problem lies. Places like geocities offer free hosting with advertising but don't include spyware. Best of luck!

Favorite coil for ZX ignition
I have found that the oil filled ones like the big barrel bosch ones are best. They are used on many vehicles like some of the old Mercedes V8's etc.. There large size and being oil filled helps keep them cooler. I'm not 100% on a part number but I can try find out however I think the paint on mine is a little faded and it might not be legible.

Straw poll: 240Z to ZX alternator adapter
I'm not an auto electrician but having such a high amp alternator with an old wiring system isn't it a receipe for disaster? (Increase the chances of an electrical fire?) Anyone have more info on this swap?
