  1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2493123439 Located in Salinas, CA (Near Laguna Seca) Car has to go. Basically need to get back the money at least for the new MAFS I bought for it, plus a little extra. Paid $1200 for the car + $300 for the MAFS. Excellent opportunity to grab a complete parts car with lots of good parts on her. Engine ran strong before something in the fuel system failed. Car tries to fire up. Take a look.....

Not asking $1500...basically need to come somewhat close though. Would like a $1000 OBO on the car. That includes the AFM and what parts I have gotten. Thanks.

76 Z for sale in Salinas California Car is not currently running. Had replaced the MAFS with a new unit (Next to last in Napa National inventory) and then noticed that the car was not getting enough fuel. Shortly after it died. Tried swapping out fuel pump, car tries to turn over but no dice. Wife want's it gone. Seats and Dashboard are bad, but the carpets are in good shape. Tranny is a 4 speed, and I think it has the R200 LSD. Car drove fine when I bought it in LA and Drove it to Monterey, CA. Recent Oil, Oil Filter and Fuel Filter change. 2 Sets of Extra plugs (Used slightly), spare Headlights. Passenger door has minor scrape damage, rear right quarter has rust on the lip. Rest of the body is straight. Smog expires in September 04. Have not changed Title from last owner. Car ran hard, and was able to bark 1st, and 2nd gear with no hesitation. I swear I only did this twice. Previous owner was a woman, and had some engine work done by a mechanic prior to selling. No idea what was done. Paid $1200 for the car, $300+ for the MAFS (and some other odds and ends) Would like to come close to even if possible. E-mail at: tuellma@hotmail.com if interested
  4. Ok, finally started to mess with the 280..... So far I have changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, noticed a nice improvement all around with the oil change. Defiantely over due. Real bad blow by. Smelt more gas than oil..... Not a good sign. Today I got in my rebuilt air flow meter. Swapped out the old one. Car fired right up. Let it idle for a bit so the computer could adjust. Took her out on the road, first gear responsiveness much improved since the old air flow was gagging at low RPMs....but here's the problem.... Car basically refuses to go faster than 60mph, or over 3000-3500 rpms. I also notice a "puff" of blueish smoke in between shifts. Power is pretty good to 3000 rpms, then that's it. Occasionally the car will jerk in 2nd or 3rd gear at or around the 3000 rpm mark. Not looking for a difinative "this is what's wrong" just a good idea what to look at next. I am thinking....Fuel pump, injectors, or ECU....??? Next pay day I am going to take it out for a diagnostic $80, I figure it's a good idea. oh, also need anyone's estimate on how much engine rebuilds "should" run. Wanna start packing the pennies away for the more likely than not "inevitability" that this engine may have more issues than I know of. Been quoted $3000 round here. Anyone wanna help out a newbie? Thanks.

Can you shoot a pick of the xenon airdam? e-mail Thanks!
  6. FJ20's Buddy of mine no matter how hard you try will not move away from the DR30 and the FJ20DET. I miss Japan..... I'd even settle for a good CA18DET right now.
  7. She was nice...240ps at th wheels by way of ECU mapping and exhaust mods and VVC cranked to 1.0kg/cm2. All stock internals. Sold it and the kid who bought it totalled it in broad daylight....idiot.
  8. You should be extremely happy with it once you get it in and all sorted out. I lived in Japan for 10 years and owned cars with the following: CA18ET CA18DE CA18DET RB20DET SR20DET All Nissan Of all of them the RB sounded the best. Had low end torque issues compaired to the CA and SR motors, but the top end was where it made up for it. The RB has the most evil sound of any Nissan motor. The previous posts were right on about hte origin of the RB. R31 Skyline and the Z31. But in 1988 Nissan also made the most awesome sedans that they had ever put out. The A31 Cefiro and the C33 Laurel. The A31 Cefiro ran the first of the plasma RB20's and was rated at 205ps. The R32 Skyline that was released in 1989 was pumped up to 215ps. You have to look out for that when getting an RB, most sellers won't tell you the difference. And it is mostly porting and ECU tuning. The only way I know to spot the difference on the 1989-1994 RB20's is by the intake pipe that goes into the intake plenium. Skyline engines had stock blow off valves on them, while the Cefiro and Laurel did not. Be careful when picking up RB's...you might get a 205ps one instead of the 215ps. Here's my old Cefiro so you can check the RB out. A31 Cefiro RB20DET powered FR Sedan
  9. Still getting the car sorted. Not much time right now though. The 280 made it from LA, BUT I am waiting on 1 of 2 of the last Air Flow Sensors that NAPA has in their national inventory....it's in anchorage, Ak... then my other occassional problem is a creeping oli pressure, that kind of worries me..... Other than that it's all little BS. Exhaust leak, crappy rims, tore up dash and seats....etc. Gonna try and see what's up with the oil pressure.
  10. Got it off e-bay for $1200 in LA. Took a 6 hour bus ride to get there, looked over the car and drove it home in 5. Brakes are great, tranny is smooth (4spd), Engine seems good, MAFS is kinda shot (coughs at low RPMs when engine is cold, and can see the intake jump when hood is popped and you throttle the gas a bit) Some engine work done by previous owner (a lady) and she can't recall what was done. mechanic said do it....and she paid up. Exhaust seems tight, but minor leaks come from the manifold gaskets, a puff comes out every now and then by the 6th cylinder. Body is ehhh.....right rear quarter seems to be a bondo playground, and the door has a decent ripple in it. Right rear fender also has rust on the lip. the outside passenger floor board seems the worst. deep rust on the outside. Need to see how bad. She drove great and it was the first time I have driven that far. Surprisingly comfortable for the age of car. I am impressed with it. Of course I kept it below 80 most of the way just to be safe and usually kept it at 70 or so. I did notice that it DOES NOT LIKE HILLS. Is this a normal issue? Talking LONG steady incline. Being a minimal knowledge mechanic, what should I look for? Or what should I have a more knowledgeable professional look for on the engine? Also got about 100 miles for 1/2 tank on the freeway, but I get less than that in city. I think the tank my have issues..... Any tips, comments and/or advice appreciated.

My seats are FUBAR! I am talking to the guy about them, and trust me they are much beter than what I have. They look like cloth seats to me...if they are I should be able to do a decent job patching them up. Do you guys think they are worth it? Thanks.
  12. I will definately be there. I know I am the "FNG" so it will be good to meet some of you. I literally live not 30 minutes from there. Oh, got the 76 280 BTW

Had just moved from Japan in november. HAD a 180SX with RS-8's on it but had to leave them on when I sold the car. I can't beleave the prices that are being asked for these old rims. Personal experience with rummaging through hte junkyards, I found my wats for $250 with decent tires and the rims were in perfect shape. Rare find. I also know that shipping rims from Japan can be expensive, but if they are military it's only around $50 per box of two. But most likely they are shipping from a Japanese post office or shipping company = ridiculous $$ Used tire and wheel shops in Japan are crazy. Prices are close to new rims. Your friends prices seem real fair. Still kicking myself for not getting the time to pull my watanabe's off my 180SX. I knew sooner or later I would get another Nissan, but was shipping an Astro van back from Japan, and just didn't have an immediate need. Sorry to bug the post, but if the rims being sold are clean, these prices aren't really making the guy getting them alot of money.
