  1. Buy a carby balancer and have a flat blade screw driver handy and do some research..
  2. BTW, don't over fill the oil, there should be markings on the covers you remove (the big black plastic nuts on the top) like a dip stick. It only takes a few cc's.

If the old rubber seals have hardened, easiest way to remove the glass is with a stanley blade and cut the rubber seal from the outside. Cut right around and just push the glass out! Same with the rear glass. Side windows are just screwed in with small philips screws. Installing the windows is easy if you know the tricks. Some small rope placed in the seal where the metal lip sits helps; helps when you have an assistant though....

  5. Best thing to do is make sure you are getting fuel and put a timing light on while the engine is cranking and make sure its at 10 deg. Do you get any poping backfires etc?

Just a thought, do the 280Z's with EFI have a cold start injector like the 280ZX's? I'm thinking if that is stuck open/leaking, that will give an overly rich mixture/black smoke and poor running.

Do you still have the drums in the back? Usually a low pedal means the drum shoes need to be adjusted up a bit. Does your handbrake come all the way up? If you know how to adjust them, adjust them up until they just start to drag as you spin the rear wheels by hand when its jacked up.

Thanks again! Looks like I'll have to make up some extra parts. the 432 linkages are quite different. I'll have to post up some pics when I'm finished the conversion.

Thanks Nissanman and hls30, that was exactly what I was after! I could understand using a cable; looks like when the engine moves with the mechanical linkage, revs would change too! Found the pic on his website. Hoping the firewall has that thread in there already, don't want to drill any unnecessary holes! Who does that RB25 with the itb's belong to? I'd be interested to hear how it went; what power was achieved.... Thanks for the quick replies!

If anyone is lucky enough to have or know anyone who owns a Z432, I would love to have some detailed pics of the throttle linkage on the firewall where the rod comes through from the pedal to the carbs. I'm installing a RB25DE but with ITB's on the right hand side and not sure how to re do the linkage without going to a cable (last resort). I would appreciate any help!

Ive welded mine on but bolt in commercial ones I've seen, the threaded portion sits on a welded ring and allowed to rotate.
  12. Front crossmembers are the same on both cars, the only major difference is in the rear suspension A-arms on the 2+2. Rear track is wider to accomodate the rear seats. If you put in adjustable lower arms on the front you could increase track slightly....

  17. I've noticed the bolts on the front guards are the hex head but are low profile to clear the bonnet when it is shut. My 240 is a early 70 model and it has the larger washers with the bit shaved off. I havent seen those bolts anywhere else on the car.
