Best sounding 240/280 exhaust
I've just about decided to go the custom route myself at the moment.. here is what I'm in the process of designing (all 304 Stainless steel) 9 feet of straight 2.5" 304 2 90" 304 Mandrel bends 14" x 5" x 9" Oval SS Magnaflow Muffler 2.5" SS Oval Cat Simichome Metal Polish (to polish everything before I take it to an exhaust shop). I'm still looking around for an exhaust tip that I like, but the total so far is $307.55 for the parts.... I might even be getting too much SS piping, but I'd like to have the exhaust shop make a test pipe if I can... Anyone have any suggestions or comments? Maybe I should think about throwing a glass pack in there somewhere? I LOVED the sound of the Magnaflow on my Eagle Talon... very nice grumble and pretty loud... Oh, and hey Prox.. looks like you're in Colorado too...

Removing Old Dash Emblem?
Ha! Yeah, it does have the pins in it unfortunately.. I guess I'll have to take a closer look this weekend to see what I need to do with it, but at least I now have an idea about what I need to look for... thanks!

Clunking Under Acceleration
Thanks! The interior is just as nice, I'm totally stoked to have a Z in this great of condition. I'll order the service manual CD when I get home from work to get a better idea, but offhand, how involved of a job is it to replace?

Clunking Under Acceleration
I tried searching for some other problems I asked, but just like this one, didn't really find anything. I guess I'll pay more attention to the default search box the next time I do it. Maybe it's limiting by date or something. Anyhow, I'll give that a shot when I get home from work. Thanks!

Clunking Under Acceleration
Thanks for the site, I haven't came across this one before. That's kind of funny, my car has about 3/4 of the things mentioned on there which I probably would of eventually started looking for information about. Thanks again!

Removing Old Dash Emblem?
Yeah, I did a search using "dash emblem" and just "emblem" and nothing came back that was topical at all, but maybe the default search does not search across all time, just the last 60 days or something. I'll check that though-- thanks!

Removing Old Dash Emblem?
This sounds like a stupid topic I assume, but I do NOT want to scratch or damage my 280Z dash which only has one small crack in it. I searched the forums and didn't find anything. Anyhow, I have a replacement "Datsun 280Z" emblem for my dash, and was wondering what the best way of removing it is. I was thinking of heating it with a hairdryer and trying to pry it off? Maybe squirt some goo gone or 3m adhesive remover on it? Any suggestions? Thanks, - Brandon

That's the setup I've been looking at. Please take pictures and let me know your impressions once you get it all installed!

280Z Running Rich-- How to Fix?
I should mention that switching to carbs is not an option for me. I love fuel injection. Also, the fuel system in the car was totally replaced within the last couple of years.. all new injectors, hoses, etc.

Clunking Under Acceleration
Hello all. I'm a newbie to the Z world-- just bought a very nice 76 280Z: http://devnulled.com/gallery/280Z-calitocolorado I've worked on / modified DSM's for around 5 years, and can do about anything on them without a problem except rebuild engines, trannies, etc by hand, but decided it was time for something new. Anyhow, on the drive home I noticed sort of a light thumping/clunking/shaking under acceleration. My guess without being very familliar with these cars yet is that an engine or tranny mount of some sort has went bad, but maybe it's something different, or a common problem for these cars. Any advice or suggestions, or something for me to check to help figure out what the problem might be? I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks, - Brandon

280Z Running Rich-- How to Fix?
Anyhow, on the drive home, I noticed it was running very rich. I had an emissions test done today, and they also confirmed that it was rich. Being that it's fuel injection, I'm not quite sure where to start. I would assume that perhaps the spark is not strong enough? I have some new Taylor wires and NGK plugs to throw on this weekend, so that's a start. Any other suggestions on how to get the car running at stoich? Also-- what is the torque spec and gap for the spark plugs? I'll order the CD Manual soon so I won't have to ask dumb questions like those last two soon. Thanks, - Brandon
