  1. Here's the link to this beauty, already at $30k with 5 days to go: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-95/
  2. Here's the green one's older sister........she has some fake rust too, along with some attitude:
  3. Yes, I can't say that I have ever seen that before.
  4. Here's one that was made to have that old, weathered look:
  5. I don't think it snows very often in Dallas, but I'm sure that it rains there. However, you may be right about the underside of the car being rusty. There could be mice that crawled in through the bottom of the car living inside.....and who knows what else lives in the car ?
  6. Check out these two '73 bargain basement 240Zs located in Texas. One in Austin for an asking price of $2,200.00 and the other in the Dallas area (green one) for an asking price of $2,500.00 https://austin.craigslist.org/pts/d/shiner-1973-datsun-240z/6915260078.html https://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/cto/d/iowa-park-1973-datsun-240z/6914432592.html
  7. I agree. I'm surprised the car has lasted this long. People in California are spoiled when it comes to 240Zs compared to the rest of the world. There are more 240Zs there than anywhere else, and to top it off, most of them are fairly rust-free.
  8. The seller mentions in the listing that the car is a 1970.5 Series One 240Z, so it's probably an early '71 model year car. The seller also mentions that it has its original matching-numbers engine - a big plus, especially since it's been rebuilt. As Diseazd mentioned earlier, this car won't last long and would be an easy restoration (even with the half dash cap!)
  9. At first, I thought Diseazd was making a joke that the half cap added $2,500 to the value of the car. After thinking about it some more, he may have meant that it would have added an extra cost of $2,500.00 to have the dash restored by a company such as Just Dashes. Either way, Diseazd's statement is either really funny or it's very informative!
  10. Located in San Diego. Looks like the seller is asking $16K? Here's the link: https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/d/san-diego-datsun-240z/6908824590.html
  11. I did the same thing, Mark and I couldn't find it either. Definitely a unique wheel!
  12. Yes, it is very sad to see an early 3-dgit VIN 240Z in this condition. As Charles mentioned earlier, it would probably take a couple of donor cars to restore this one. Not sure if there is anyone out there that would make that kind of commitment both from a financial and a time standpoint, but you never know.
  13. Yes, that is exactly what he's doing! Because when you look at what this car is with its original matching-number engine is long gone, and even though the low VIN is great, it's one of the most rusted 240Zs that I have ever seen that anyone has tried to sell as a restoration project. It would be a completely different story if the car's build date was a month earlier. I think were all in agreement here, it's a parts car and nothing more. If the rear hatch glass is worth $1.8k to $2k and IF the car has an early hood, it's worth $600.00 or $700.00? The Series I steering wheel at $300.00 at best, the Series I console was replaced with a beaten up '72-73 console, the early seat belts are probably loaded with rust and not sure if this car would even have had the pricey plastic inspection lid pieces or not?
  14. Sounds like you spoke with him as well because that's what he told me!
  15. Auction ended with the car bid up to $3,150.00 and still didn't meet the reserve.
  16. Yesterday I spoke briefly with the seller Roy and he confirmed that the rear hatch glass is clear without any rear defogger lines. I also asked him what the reserve was and all he said was that is was higher than the current high bid of $1,700.00. No pictures in the listing of the underside of the hood to see if it's an early one. The auction ends today. Anyone interested in the car can call Roy at 905-704-8475.
  17. For those of us who don't have a Facebook account, they can also find them on https://www.Instagram.com as the240zguild
  18. I agree. In fact, if the car does have its original paint, I would recommenced not doing any mods to it. 240Zs with their original paint and in such great, original condition are very difficult to find and are becoming very valuable.
  19. Welcome, SpectreZ! Your car looks to have been babied by the original owner and is in excellent condition. Does it have its original paint?
  20. Wow, I didn't know the clear glass is worth $2K, but makes sense when you consider how rare and what the demand is. The rear hatch louvers on this car probably saved the glass. I wonder how much an early hood is worth?
  21. Agreed. $1,700.00 with reserve not met seems high. However, if this car has an early hood, how much are they worth? And the clear rear hatch glass an other rare early Z parts?
  22. This car looks to be too far gone to restore IMHO. Does not have its original matching-numbers engine (L26). The seller is being very honest when he states that the car is "Extremely rusty and needs a total restoration" However, it could be a good parts car for someone who has a '69 production 240Z or a 1/70 build and needs the clear rear hatch glass, early hood, etc (assuming that at least some of the 1/70 240Zs had these parts).
