    Thanks for posting the 2 pictures, Jerry. You make a good point about this car, it may have its original paint, but it's not a solid survivor and the multiple rust issues have to be addressed. It's a shame about the issues, but it is still a good candidate for a full restoration.

    I would keep the original paint and thoroughly clean the car inside and out. I would then have a pro adjust the passenger door/ right front fender fit issues, remove the glue from the black 240Z stripes on both side, have paintless dent repair done, buff-out the paint, replace the front bumper and hood emblem with good used ones. Series I and II 240Zs with original paint are just too hard to find and that is the very reason that the seller is asking $20k or best offer for the car.

    Interesting. So do you think they did any work on the 240Z themselves? From what you're saying maybe they just installed the new carpets and emblems after the car returned from the body shop.

    Sounds reasonable to me. Hopefully, only serious members who are dying to find a solid 240Z with its original coat of paint and are willing to pay the price for one will come forward.

    Located in Palm Springs, CA. VIN #HLS30-27805 with its original matching numbers engine. Looks to have its original 918 Orange paint. If so, this is a rare find.     Thanks, Mike. I also saw the Car Connection segment on this car with the father and son, but missed the auction which was sometime after that. I set the DVR last night to record the repeat of the auction and will fast-forward through and watch it tonight. I love seeing the father and son car stories, as my son and I worked together on two 240Z refresh projects when he was in high school. Now he's in med school. Time sure does go by quickly.

    I took your advise, Mike and contacted the seller on the 16th, but I still haven't heard back. The eBay listing stated that the car was also listed locally, so there's a good possibility that's what happened to it. Any Classiczcars.com members live in the Tulsa, OK area and know anything about this car?

    OK, I now have an update on the VIN. The seller finally heard back from the buyer of the car and sent me a text message stating that the VIN is HLS30-02434. I texted him back, thanking him and I also asked him if the buyer was from here in the metro Denver area, and he said yes. Do any of you members from the Denver area know who bought the car? Whoever purchased the car, I sure hope they restore it and not part it out.

    I texted with the seller last night a while after I started this thread. He told me that the the transaction was finalized yesterday. I noticed the car's '2400' valve cover and asked him if he knew the VIN number. He said that he didn't pay much attention to the VIN on the title, but he would contact the buyer and get back to me today. Since I had not heard back from him today, I sent him a text message about an hour and a half ago, asking if he had a chance to call the buyer, but I haven't received a response yet. Once I hear back from him, I will post the VIN on this thread.

      Sorry, sold the license plate light but have a 280z license plate light which is slightly larger.

    With this in mind, the seller of the '73 240Z that sold yesterday at Barrett-Jackson for $20,900.00 including buyer fees (pictured below) would have probably done better on Bring a Trailer or eBay, especially when you consider the seller fees BJ charges. On the other hand, the seller of the '72 240Z was very fortunate to get the $37K less the fees. There's no way that the '72 Z would sell for $37K on eBay or BaT.

    I believe that Barrett-Jackson charges both the seller and the buyer 5% each, but I could be wrong.
