  1. I came across this one on Craig's List for sale in Oregon for only $900.00: choped 240z Personally, I prefer the factory original 240Zs, but I have to be honest, I kind of like the sleek look, especially the black one (below) in the Car Domain article that Mr. Camouflage started this thread with. The baby blue one presently for sale in Oregon (also below) doesn't look nearly as nice.
  2. That's good to know. Thanks, Guy. Sounds like I will need to drive my car somewhere that can modify the shifter and test it in the car, rather than removing the shifter and then taking it someplace.
  3. I would recommend selling your re-chromed '73 guards, buy some '70-'72 guards and then use your 4-bolt rubber strips. The larger '73 guards were set closer to far ends of the bumper than the '70-'72 guards were and in my opinion would not look right on the older bumper. Besides, as you have found out, it's going to be tough trying to find some '73 rubber guards and your re-chromed guards should sell quickly.
  4. Siteunseen, Thanks for the link, I appreciate your response. The only thing is that the picture of the S-shaped shifter on the zcarz.us website is no different than the stock shifter that comes on the Type B transmission (see 1st pic below). It needs to have more of a bend at the lower part of the shifter like the shifter that Brian modified on Post #13 in order for a '70/'71 console to fit (see 2nd & 3rd pics below). I'm hoping that someone manufactures one like this.
  5. Hi Guy, Since I'm chiming in almost a year later, do you know if anyone has started manufacturing the modified shifters yet? I am in need of one and have been looking all over the Internet and haven't found one yet.
  6. Yes, the seller definitely took a bath on this one. The $10,450.00 includes a 10% commission, so the buyer got even less for the car. It seems like the few 240Zs that are up for auction at Barrett-Jackson are going for less and less each year, not a good venue for 240Zs....too many muscle car guys who really have no interest in imports. I agree with Carl, the seller would have done a lot better on Ebay where there are a lot more potential bidders and there's a lot less risk. One interesting note, the VIN HLS30-64331 on this car is close to the VIN on my son's and my 1/72, HLS30-64733 that we sold on Ebay for $15k in October of 2008.
  7. Here's a listing on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-DATSUN-240Z-SEAT-BELTS-COMPLETE-SET-L-R-/170959817028?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A240Z&hash=item27cdffc944&vxp=mtr
  8. Hi Dan, I wish I had seen your post earlier. I've had an NOS set of 4 seals for a few years now that I've never used (see pic below). However, after reading through this thread, I might just hold on to them in case I need to replace my inserts someday. Hearing that the stock inserts are not too soft and not too stiff, if I can find a complete set of 4 NOS stock inserts (and dust covers) for my '71, I may just have them installed along with my 4 seal kits when the time comes. As difficult as it is to find the NOS inserts, I guess I better start looking pretty soon.
  9. Does anyone know the answer to my question? Thanks
  10. I am installing a small aftermarket speaker (reusing the stock bracket) for the stock am radio on my '71 and was wondering if the positive wire for the speaker was the white/black wire or the white?
  11. I seemed to have misplaced the 2 bolts that fasten the rear license plate to the back of my '71 240Z. I've tried some odd spare bolts and some are close but are not quite the right size. Does anyone know the correct diameter & length of the bolt? Thanks in advance. Steve
  12. Here's a link to a Series I engine for an asking price of only $100.00 complete with 4-screw carbs. I spoke with the seller Jeff and the engine number is L24-020399 and is located just outside of Lincoln, Nebraska. http://lincoln.craigslist.org/pts/3133779244.html
  13. Winning bid went for only $4,499.00. Seems very low to me.
  14. Hi Guy, Sounds like Denver Bumper has raised their prices since I last had them do some work for me. The last time I had them do a front bumper about 2 years ago, it was $250.00.
  15. Frankly, I'm surprised that no one has purchased it for the BIN yet. Sitting at only $2,550.00 with 11 bids with 7 days and 1 hour remaining at the time of this post. For the money, you're not going to find a better 240Z for sale on the East Coast.
  16. This 240Z appears to be very original and a good deal for the BIN price: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200787802610&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#v4-43
  17. Great find, Guy! Love the 918 Orange. Just curious, where in Colorado did you find this car?
  18. I purchased the end-mount rubber insulators from Banzai for the rear bumper on my '71, but I seemed to have misplaced the bolts that attach the ends of rear bumper to the sides of the body. Does anyone know the correct size & length of these bolts? Thanks
  19. Spring is here and it's time for me to get back on my project. Does anyone know the answer to the question on my last post to this thread? I need to find the right sized bolts that attached the rear bumper to the body of my '71 240Z. Thanks in advance
  20. Thanks, Blue! I still haven't installed the pieces yet, as my project has been a slow process. However, I plan to have the car completed and on the road in June. Thanks again, this helps me.
  21. DT, I bought a set of 240Z skins with the chrome strips attached from Les at Classic Datsun Motors Sports and I'm very happy with them. Make sure you use a good, solid set of door panel boards to mount the new skins on. http://classicdatsun.com/
  22. This looks to be a pretty solid car for only $3,500.00 obo for sale in New Mexico. Here's the link: http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2575760735.html
