The metal fan shrouds are tough to come by nowadays. I've owned several of them over the years. Last summer I sold one on eBay to a 240Z owner in Austria named Josef. It took about a month to get there via USPS and the shipping cost to the buyer was only about $80.00 including insurance. The quotes from FedEx and UPS were about 3 times the cost of USPS. He sent me this picture of the fan shroud next to the front wheel of the car.

I spotted this one on the SF Bay Area Craigslist. Asking price is $7k. Looks like an 11/71 build date to me and not an 11/70 build date. Here's the link: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/cto/d/aptos-1971-datsun-240z-clean-title/7273903764.html 1971 datsun 240z (manufactured 11/70) Pickup only I made a video overviewing all the damage spots on the car, IF SERIOUS ABOUT CAR please watch video before inquiring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSAUeyadv90 Bought this car with the intentions of repairing the rust damage and swapping in a sr20 or rb25 to have as a weekend cruiser with my brother, life got too busy with different priorities to get working on the 240z Currently on Non-op with dmv Ran before purchased in 2015 Clean title, original key that works for all locks. Complete car, no parts missing. Original l24 engine(110k miles) with transmission, when purchased it cranked but needed a new starter. Passenger side frame rail rusted through/under passenger seat (refer to video) Some exterior rust spots and dings Driver side frame rail to the right 2 inches give or take AFTER the strut tower which shouldn’t be a problem to pull it out (refer to video) Already with car when I purchased new exedy clutch Energy suspension bushings 1 headlight -

I spotted this on the Austin, Texas Craigslist: 1971 Datsun 240z Series 1 - $12,000 (Austin), Here's the link: https://austin.craigslist.org/cto/d/austin-1971-datsun-240z-series/7268954185.html Currently listed on ebay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Datsun-Z-Series/193863325108 Bidding Ends Sunday Night I am selling my 1971 Datsun 240z Series 1. It is running and driving car that has recently had quite a few things fixed to get to this point. The owner before me installed the coil-overs and exhaust. The owner before him repainted it and is estimated done around the early 2000s. It's not the factory orange color as it is a bit brighter. I have fixed numerous belts, hoses, and other odds and ends. The most recent repair involved replacing the transmission(got stuck in reverse) while backing it out to fix the rear wheel cylinders that were leaking. The transmission got replaced with a mid 70's 240z 4-speed. Their are a few specific parts like the transmission and brake components that changed after the series 1 so using later 240z parts is much easier/cheaper. I learned the previous owner's exhaust didn't clear the transmission so it had to be cut and banded after the swap. There is a slight leak now which I believe is coming from one of the flanges where it meets the head. This header does has individual flanges for each port which I've heard can lead to this. During the transmission swap, the fuel pump, fuel filter, and master brake cylinder were all replaced. The brakes are still a bit weak which I believe means it must also need a brake booster. I also had a starter relay kit from California Datsun installed during this time.I originally bought this car as a project car and to eventually ls-swap it. This is the purpose of the frame rails and some other parts. I have a 98 ls1/6-speed and mounts from John's Z-car which aren't included in this auction but will be available for purchase first to the winner of this auction. I originally didn't have a proper garage to work on this and then I started my family and I couldn't rationalize spending anymore time or money on it. It hasn't been driven much in the 8 years of owning it so it's really time to pass it on to someone who can fix it up and enjoy it like it deserves. You'll see pictures of quite a few parts. The front and rear frame rails are from bad dog parts and cost $440 before tax and shipping. The dash has no cracks in it and the center piece. These alone can fetch $600+ online without the vents and gauges. The center sections for the a/c controls is also in great shape. This car had all of the A/C stuff removed when I bought it but all parts that I have are still listed in the pictures. It also includes headlight covers that were stuck on and never drilled into the buckets. A gasket and strut for the rear hatch (doesn't stay up on it's own now). The previous owner also rigged a headlight switch as they are very prone to breaking in these cars. There is an extra in the parts but uncertain if it is operational. Some of the other parts are an energy suspension polyurethane busings for the mustache bar and transmission (forgot I had it during swap), ignition switch, ignition(w/mount and spare keys), headlight, hatch box for 2 6x9s, carb kit, center light, a/c knob, fuse box cover, u-joint, center caps, old wheels/tires(not pictured). The mileage is what the odometer currently reads as it hasn't rolled since I've owned it but uncertain if and how many times it might have. -

The seller sure listed a lot of information on this Z. The engine number is next to impossible to read, even after blowing it up, etc. Can anyone read this? The engine number should be in the L24-102xxx to L24-106xxx range for a 5/72 build. See picture below: *READ THE END OF THE AD* 1972 Datsun 240Z S30 Coupe Early Build Date 5/72 Serial Number: HLS30-84055 Miles: 86,845 Engine and Powertrain: L24 6 Cylinder (Casting P30 2509D), 1982 280ZX 5 Speed Manual Transmission (Close Ratio), E88 Intake and Head, Twin SU Hitachi HJG46W Carburetors Color: No. 918 Mexican Orange Exterior, Black Interior Purchased from: Gordon Thompson Chevrolet Inc. 2600 Phillips Hwy Jacksonville Fl. 32207 Date: January 30, 1973 New Miles: 9 Ownership: The Original Owner purchased this 240Z New on January 30, 1972 with 9 Miles on the (47 years). General description: Chassis, Floor Pans, Shock Towers, Body Rust Free with the exception of slight corrosion at the bottom of both fenders and the bottom of the driver side dogleg. Paint is original however it has not been kept in a time capsule without blemish. When I purchased the car it had not been driven for several years and although a complete car, being 47 years old needed to be refurbished mechanically. All systems have been serviced restoring the original dependability and performance of an original 240Z. There are too many things to list that I have done with this car to include in this ad, but to give a general idea: The hatch jamb is the only area with new original paint # 918. The jamb sill and rubber was replaced. Under the hood the Head Gasket, Front and Rear Main Seals, Hoses, Belts, Fittings replaced as necessary to maintain functional and dependable use as a daily driver. All systems inspected and serviced. Parts replaced as necessary to ensure cosmetic and mechanical integrity of this classic car. Everything is original with the exception of the Ceramic Coated Headers, Aluminum Radiator. The original radiator, transmission and carpet are included. The original owner replaced the seat inserts and recovered the door panels. A complete description, list of parts replaced and paint thickness measurements are available to the future owner. This car functions, handles and runs extremely well as expected of a 240Z. ***I will not answer, “Is it available?” or email. If the ad is posted, it is available. It will be removed once sold. How to find original paint color for 240z
lonetreesteve replied to DC871F's topic in Open Discussions
What year is your 240Z? If it turns out that there isn't even a small spec of paint to be found on the car, you can pick out your favorite paint color for the appropriate year of your 240Z. Go to Zhome.com and look for Exterior & Int. Color List 240-Z /280Z for the correct colors of your Z's model year and Exterior Color Gallery 240Z/280Z images to see what the paint colors look like. -

I just spoke with the seller and he told me that the car doesn't have its original matching-numbers engine. It has a replacement L24. I can see how that would affect the asking price, but it shouldn't affect it that much! Looks to be a very solid, low VIN California car. -

The seller states the following: Drivers side of a datsun 240z for a man cave. This is a full size car. Was going to hang it on the wall. Has been gutted to lighten it. Includes slotted wheels and tires. That would be something to see a 240Z with wheels & tires on a large wall! 310-871-708six trebor -

1970 Datsun 240z 6/70 build date - $55,000 (Los Angeles) The seller states that the car has its original paint except for being spot-painted on the passenger door and quarter panel. Here's the link: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/cto/d/los-angeles-1970-datsun-240z-70-build/7241511335.html Build date 6/70, Arizona clean title. This is a very honest and early Z. Has all the correct and original early Z parts such as the vented rotors, hood, headlight sugar scoops, 2400 valve cover, early 4 screw carbs, all the smog emissions stuff, original AM radio, steering wheel, and original metal emblems. Did i mention the car has most of its original paint besides being spot painted on the right side door and quarter panel. Since I’ve owned it i have gone through the car and upgraded some things such as the brakes, the suspension, i installed a 5 speed, rebuilt the drive shaft w new u joints, rebuilt the axles w new u joints, lsd rear differential, powder coated front and rear arms with new bushings. Brand new front and rear wheel bearings w played hubs and stub axles. The car is currently sitting on brand new 15x8 watanabe wheels w r888 tires. All of the original suspension parts for the front and rear are included as well as the original 4 speed trans and stock differential. Car still has its original header and exhaust from front to back. You are looking at a car that has been very well preserved and can be enjoyed as is or you can restore it. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. -
