  1. You're right, I did not take the time to read the description.....sorry, my bad.
  2. Rod, do you mean 918 (Orange)? What was the original color of your car?
  3. The car sold for $21,100.00 last November on Ebay (which was an excellent value!). Today, the BIN is $29,500.00 or best offer. If the seller gets close to the BIN price, that would be an excellent profit in a very short period of time, even if you figure in what the transportation costs were when he bought the car less than 6 months ago.
  4. I'm pretty sure this car has been discussed in the past. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290316059024&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:middle:us
  5. I fully understand what that's all about. I can't find any info on my first 240Z either. It was a '72 that I had back in college in the late '70s and early '80s. One thing that I thought of the other day was contacting the auto insurance company since they have the VIN numbers of all the cars they insure. Lucky for me, my late father was my insurance agent at the time, so there's a chance that the records might still be in the filing cabinets in my Mom's basement. The next time I visit her, maybe I'll find the VIN. If you can remember who your insurance company or agent was at the time, they may be able to find your old car's VIN. It's a long shot, but it's worth a try if you really want to find the whereabouts of your old car.
  6. Whichever carrier you choose, make sure it's one that is enclosed. Enclosed carriers cost a little more, but they take a lot better care of your car than an open carrier. The obvious difference is that your car is protected from all the elements like hail, rain, flying gravel, sand, bird crap, etc.
  7. Doesn't look familiar to me at all. Do you still have the VIN someplace in your old files?- That is probably the best way to try to locate the car. Also, just curious, which old Colorado mountain town was the picture taken?
  8. Just out of curiosity, I ran an on-line quote with FedEx for their covered transportation using the main Las Vegas Zip code and Jeff's Zip Code and here's how it came out....just about what Jeff thought it would be. Description Charges Line Haul Charges $1,629.00 Fuel Surcharge (11.5%) $187.00 Geographic Upcharge (Las Vegas, NV 89109 US) $50.00 Loading/Unloading Fee (1973 Datsun 240Z) $100.00 Origination Fee (1973 Datsun 240Z) $100.00 Total: $2,066.00 Enclosed transportation Transit miles 2715 Vehicle information Make and model Vehicle Type Year Special Info Datsun 240Z Passenger Car 1973
  9. The buyers of my last 2 projects used FedEx Custom Critical Passport Auto Transport and both of them were very happy. Here's the link to their website: http://passport.fedex.com/
  10. 11. I'm not exactly sure, but I would guess that they changed it from GlendaleTruckParts since they also sell parts for cars and not just the truck market. What's the third name? All I can say is whatever their name is, I was very happy with the three weatherstrip kits I purchased from them and my body guy really likes the quality and fit when he installs the kits on my Zs.
  12. The Precision weatherstrip kits that I talked about earlier are back on Ebay, still out of Phoenix, but under a different name: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-COMPLETE-WEATHERSTRIP-KIT-DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a7Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem4a97536bd8QQitemZ320366406616QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  13. I was going through the stored Z pics on my computer and came across these pictures of #1032. I saved them from the original Craigs List ad. I thought I'd post them since the old listing is long gone and no one ever posted any pics of the car. Just curious, did anyone in the Denver area ever figure out who the buyer was on this car and if it was ever restored? All I remember is that the seller sold it to some body & paint guy in Golden. Darrell started this thread back in 2006 and it looks like there hasn't been any updates to this story since that time. If anyone has heard anything, please let us know.
  14. If the car is as good as it looks in the pictures, it's an outstanding deal for $3,500.00!
  15. If I were you, I would try really hard to buy the original engine from the seller. However, before you do, make certain that the engine serial number matches the engine number on your car's data plate.
  16. Holy smokes, Mike! 3? Very impressive!
  17. Mike, #32 looks fantastic! I love the blue paint, it's absolutely beautiful. You're a lucky man to have not just one but two '69 production year cars. Very nice job, you must be very proud.
  18. I bought all 3 of my weatherstrip kits for my 240Z projects from the same seller on Ebay called Glendaletruckparts (out of the Phoenix area). All 3 sets made for 240Z/260Z & 280Z. There were a couple of extra pieces for 280Zs only (upper door weatherstrip set) that I ended up selling on Ebay. All 3 sets were manufactured by Precision, were fully complete, excellent in quality, fit very well and at a decent price. The last set I bought a little over a year ago for my latest project was $225.00 plus $25.00 shipping. The 2 previous 2 sets I bought a few years back were $200.00 plus $25.00 shipping. I just checked Ebay and it doesn't look like he has any listed right now. He may have run out again.
  19. I've read through the archives on this site in years past about the Vintage Z program and I know that some of the cars weren't fully completed. By any chance was the subject car one of them? With all the modifications and the amateurish vinyl installation in the rear hatch area that I pointed out earlier, it makes you wonder.
  20. Welcome! You will find a wealth of information at this site with some very knowledgeable and helpful members. Just curious, what is the VIN on your '70 240Z and does its engine number match the number on the data plate? Here's the link to his blog for you computer-challenged members http://zrestoration.blogspot.com/
  21. The black diamond vinyl on the rear strut towers in the pic looks terrible (see below). And yes Mike, I would say that the mods definitely affect the car's value.
  22. Terry, So you're saying that the $550.00 didn't include the front bumper itself?
  23. As a follow up to this, I dropped off the bumpers from my '71 at Denver Bumper Works earlier this week and here are what their current costs are for re-chroming: Front bumper: $250.00 Rear bumper center piece: $100.00 Rear bumper corner pieces: $75.00 each Bumper guards $55.00 each Their re-chroming costs include pulling all of the dents out and straightening. I opted not to do the guards since I've been able to buy some in the past that were in great condition for about half of the $55.00 re-chroming cost. However, since it's been a while, I will probably have a tougher time trying to find the early guards in nice condition. They accept shipment orders and will ship back the re-chromed bumpers to anywhere in the USA.
  24. Here's a project car located in Tempe, AZ. Judging from the pics, looks to have a few minor issues, but overall, doesn't look too bad for $700.00 or less: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/1117359561.html Here's the link to more pics of the car: http://s560.photobucket.com/albums/ss44/magscript/
  25. This so-called '69 240Z looks like it's listed for sale at $1,100.00 (need to click on the 'Project Cars' link and go to 1969 to find the price). Obviously not a '69 and not even a Series I car for that matter. It's either got to be a Series II '71 or an early Series III '72 car, judging by the rear hatch glass with vertical defogger. Looks like she's out to pasture with a lot of other old cars that are for sale. http://www.classiccarssite.com/images/RJ/RJ69Z2DRHT.html
