  1. I just bought a NOS braided PCV valve hose from Courtesy Nissan for the '72. I'm still looking for a NOS braided hose that connects from the valve cover to the air filter.
  2. Hi guys, Thanks for all the kind words. I've been extremely busy this past week and with the exception of replying to Gary's (7T1240) PM the other night, this is my first chance to post a reply. Well, to be honest with you, my son and I really didn't know what to ask for the car. We just looked at some recent ended auctions on Ebay and did a quick estimation. My son listed the car on the Denver Craig's list last Sunday night, he received a few e-mails inquiring about the car and forwarded them to me. I replied with my phone numbers, etc. I had a couple of guys who wanted to set up appts to see the car later in the week. Then on Tuesday night, I received a phone call from a gentleman named Patrick who was calling from Canada inquiring about the car. I asked him how in world he heard about a listing in Denver and he explained that he was fellow Classic Zcar Club member zhead240 and the listing had been posted in a thread and that a number of members had made some nice comments about the car. I saw the thread that Darrel had started and was very surprised to see that all of you thought the car was under priced. Out of respect for the 2 local guys, we pulled the listing soon after Patrick's phone call. In the past couple days, I called both of the local guys to confirm their appts to see the car, but they turned out not to be very serious buyers. So last night my son re-listed the car at a higher price. As mentioned in the listing, I really don't want to sell the car, but my oldest daughter graduates from high school next week and that will make 2 kids in college and the twins aren't too far behind at 5 years from graduating high school. I respect your opinions and want to thank all of you for your compliments and helping me get the highest possible amount for the car. Best regards,
  3. Any of you guys up in Canada familiar with this car? Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240z-race-car_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ98064QQihZ018QQitemZ280111968646QQrdZ1
  4. '73s all came with flat top carbs. This one, like a lot of '73 240 and '74 (260) owners did was pull the flat tops and install the '70 through '72 round tops.
  5. Seems like a waste to part out a rare car like this; here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/74-75-76-DATSUN-240-260-280-Z-2-2-FAIRLADY-PARTS-turbo_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33717QQihZ016QQitemZ260112404551QQrdZ1
  6. Yeah, David, it looks like they drove the Z away from the emissions place and forgot to disconnect the hose! :knockedou
  7. I have been looking for them as well for the '72. I saw that Motorsport them now. Here's an excerpt from their website www.motorsportauto.com : "70-72 Rear Bumper Guard Rubbers" "Nissan discontinued these, and those trying to restore early 240Z's had the displeasure of trying to "clean up" the best used rubbers you could find for this spot on the car that just looks plain ugly without them. Reproduced with high quality rubber, these will keep the back of your Z looking great. Part #32-2060, $30.00/each"
  8. Quote WinZro: Heres why: It rained ~maybe~ and I repeat ~maybe~ a total of 30 to 45 days this winter. Way most likely towards 30. Snows only in the mountings, no salt on the roads and the only bad place to be is on the ocean coast (San Francisco salty ocean air) or L.A. (acid rain). The Sun does dry out rubber parts when it's like 114 degrees out here and steady 105's a month straight, but thats stuff cheap compared to body work. So yeah, we're Lucky (Quote WinZro) The other thing is that there are more 240Zs located in California than anywhere else in the world! So besides the favorable climate, etc it's also a numbers thing. A good number of virtually rust-free Zs also come from Arizona, but it's not even close when compared to Governator's state.
  9. Located in Tulsa, OK with a $1,500.00 Buy-it-Now. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1971-Datsun-240Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ190099138791QQrdZ1
  10. I got my tail light & side marker gaskets,as well as the gas filler door rubber flap for both 240Zs from Black Dragon. They have all worked out very well on the '71 (haven't installed them on the '72 yet). They seem to be made of a better quality rubber than the factory original pieces I replaced. As you know, they are a lot cheaper than anywhere else.
  11. Starting bid $10,000.00; here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240Z-1971-DATSUN-240Z-4-SPEED-FRAME-UP-RESTO-MINT-L-K_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ190097403051QQrdZ1
  12. Enigma, I have 2 very nice freshly chromed (triple-plated) '70-'72 front bumpers (one has 2 holes on the bottom for fog lights, the other without. Like the NOS one that was just sold on Ebay, neither has the bumper guards or rubbers on them. I only need one of the bumpers, since the '71 already has a re-chromed one on it. Let me know if you are interested in one of them.
  13. Yeah, I've gone through this site before. The host of the Barrett-Jackson Auction mentioned it during the Scottsdale broadcast in 2006. One Zcar that I remember seeing in Herbie Fully Loaded movie was the 280Z (misidentified as a 240Z) in the demolition derby scene. Heck, with those huge, ugly bumpers, I'll bet it can do some real damage in the derby! :classic:
  14. Here's the link for someone looking to add to their library: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-SPORT-Z-magazines-240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300Z-350Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6762QQhashZitem320094518093QQitemZ320094518093QQrdZ1
  15. Carl, I understand where you are coming from, but there were four other buyers with bids of $10,000.00 or more. The winning bidder wasn't the only one who loved this car; in fact, the second highest bidder was at $14,000.00, the third at $12,800.00, the fourth at $11,500.00 and the fifth highest at $10,0001. If you ask me, I think the 240Z market landscape is changing and that's a good thing for all of us.
  16. Nice model, except for the '72-75 "Z" wheel covers instead of the correct "D" wheel covers.
  17. I'm looking to the replace the old 4-screw chrome centercaps for the old dealer option slotted mags on the '72 (upper right on pic below). Motorsport has been out of them for quite some time and isn't sure when they will get some in. Does anyone know where else I can find a new set?
  18. The rear bumpers on the '73 are slightly different than the '70 through '72. On the '73, the rear bumper gaurds are slightly different and are further apart on the bumper.
  19. Up to $7,600.00 already with nearly 6 days left at the time of this post. I agree about the engine compartment, if you're trying to get top dollar for the car, spend a little time & money on detailing. I don't like the wheels or the steering wheel very much, but the rest of the car looks to be very clean.
  20. That's great that John J. sells the seat mounts, I didn't know anyone made them. While you're at it, Jimmy, I would recommend that you also buy the new front & rear frame rail sections from John J. as well as the floor pans/frame rails from Zedd Findings or Motorsport's '"Premium" floor pans/rails (exact same product). Pics of all this stuff is below:
  21. Quote (from Ebay Seller): RELISTING UPDATE - Mar-09-07 at 12:10PM EST: This listing was hijacked this morning -- some joker hacked into my account, ended the auction and then sent out 5 second chance offers. This auction is relisted, I've added more photos as requested, and the it will end in 3 days. Here's a link to the new listing; it's up to over $2,220.00 at the time of this post -still a great deal: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1972-Datsun-240Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ200087733072QQrdZ1
  22. Yikes, Jimmy! You're right those are in bad shape. I've never seen new mounting pieces sold separately before; in most cases, the old ones are reused then welded on the new floor pans. I would check some junkyards and see if they can cut some mounting brackets out of a Z for you. The Zedd Findings floor pans are the best ones available out there (also available from Motorsport).
  23. Heck, if I knew it would only go for $1,525.00, I would have paid an extra $900.00 to have it shipped to Colorado.
