'70 Rust-Free Arizona Z Going Cheap!
At the time of this post with only 1 day & 14 hours remaining, this obscurely-listed '70 has no bids on it yet and has a minimum bid of only 99 cents! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8065703455&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Why So Many Project/Parts Zcars For Sale?
Yeah, I agree the '71 in Reno looks to be the best of the lot. The '70 in Phoenix (first one) looks pretty well intact and rust-free, just needs some wheels & tires...not bad for 99 cents! :classic:

Some Great Deals
Judging from the single picture, brief description and considering it is a California car, this looks to be a very nice deal for someone: http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/6/9/83803169.htm Here's some more that are even cheaper: http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/6/8/83596968.htm http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/4/1/83798341.htm http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/3/7/83747837.htm http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/8/0/83208480.htm http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/8/6/83801486.htm http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/7/0/83803170.htm http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/0/1/83594701.htm

Starting to look for a 240 Z
You are in probably the best place (SoCal) in the US to find a rust-free 240Z (or close-to rust-free). There are tons of them out there! Just keep checking Ebay or your local newspapers.

Will #1 240Zs Be Worth This Much Someday?
Back then, the Olds 442 was the Cadillac STS of its day (albeit a 2-door STS), that was attractive to the younger buyer.
-
Will #1 240Zs Be Worth This Much Someday?
In the listing the owner goes on about the green color and how it was manufactured on St. Patrick's Day in 1970 and that it cost $5,442.00 with emphasis on the "442" part of the purchase price. He also mentions that "objectively" the car was worth aprroximately $350k, so the $201K didn't meet the reserve. He should take the car to Scottsdale next January and enter it into the B-J Auction....maybe someone there will pay what he's looking for.

Looking for a Z
You really need to check this one out in person before you bid on it. It looks suspect to me -it definitely has some rust issues. Don't be fooled by the low price... replacing body panels, rockerpanels, floorpans, etc. is very, very expensive.

Will #1 240Zs Be Worth This Much Someday?
Chris, I'm sorry to hear about your father's passing last year. I lost mine 14 years ago to cancer. The car sounds beautiful! If I were you, I would list it on Ebay, that way it gets the most exposure and the best price.

Two Low-VIN 1970 240Zs on Ebay
OK, here are the Questions & Answers on 4/18, then an Update from the seller on 4/19: Q: The biggest problem with these cars is rust on the front frame rails and floor pans. How is this particular 240Z along those lines? Apr-18-06 A: I DID NOT REALLY NOTICE ANY RUST ON THE FRAME RAILS. THERE WAS NOT ANY NOTICIBLE RUST IN THE FLOOR BOARD. THANK YOU CINDY Q: How is the overall rust condition of the car? You mention some rust on the body but how about the floor boards, battery tray, and frame rails where the rust really likes to eat away at these cars? Can you describe the condition of those areas and do you have any pictures of those areas you can send me? Thank you so much for your time. Apr-18-06 A: I DID NOT REALLY NOTICE ANY RUST ON THE FRAME RAILS OR THE BATTERY TRAY. THERE ARE SEVERAL RUST SPOTS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR ON THE DOORS. THANK YOU CINDY On Apr-19-06 at 14:32:43 PDT, seller added the following information: I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE RUST ON THIS VEHICLE. THE FLOOR BOARD IS RUSTED THROUGH. THE BATTERY TRAY IS RUSTED OUT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WRECKED IT IS COVERED WITH BONDO. I HAD A Z-CAR COLLECTOR LOOK AT IT AND HIS OPINION WAS IT WOULD TAKE A LOT TO FIX IT UP. IN HIS OPINION THE CAR IS ONLY GOOD FOR PARTS. IT WILL RUN BUT IT WOULD NOT BE SAFE. ONLY GOOD FOR PARTS. I AM SORRY ABOUT THE MISLEAD INFORMATION. THANK YOU CINDY

Will #1 240Zs Be Worth This Much Someday?
It will be a very long time before the Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964), the largest generation in the history of the USA, die off. The very oldest are just turning 60 this year and the youngest (like me) are still in their early-to-mid- forties. Besides, a lot of the Baby Boomers' kids LOVE muscle cars almost as much as their fathers do. Muscle cars are exciting cars from a very exciting time period in America (1964-1970). As we all know, the 240Z is also an exciting car that came around the end of the muscle car era and I agree with Deadflo, are going to grow in popularity (and value).

Why So Many Project/Parts Zcars For Sale?
The Brown '73 sold for $3k. That's more than what I thought it would end up being, considering its extremly slow start in the auction.

Promising early '71 for sale
That's a steal for a running '71 California car! If the guy were smart he would have listed it on Ebay and got a hell of a lot more for it!:stupid:

Two Low-VIN 1970 240Zs on Ebay
James, The wheels are after-market and not stock. The side molding on the sides I believe was a dealer-option and is very common on a lot of Z cars.

Two Low-VIN 1970 240Zs on Ebay
James, I'll answer the easy question first: The hood is from a a later model 280Z ('77or '78). The mileage on these cars is very hard to gauge since they turn over at 100k instead of 1 million like a lot of newer cars. The seats aren't a big deal, they can be rebuilt & recovered for a reasonable price. My big concern is the rust on this car. Rust can cost you a lot of money. I would ask one of our knowledgeable members that live nearby to take a look at this car for you.

Why So Many Project/Parts Zcars For Sale?
Fun, I agree, the brown one looks like the best value for a project (at just $1,280.00 with only 17 hours remaining at the time of this post). Needs a new set of floor pans, weatherstripping and some TLC. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240-Z-1973-Datsun-240-Z-Project-COLLECTORS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ4630668683QQrdZ1
