  1. Thanks for the advice Tom! I didn't think too much about those UPS guys-you are right about that! I just got an e-mail back from myautobodyparts.com in California and the shipping & handling is almost as much as the fender itself at $89.00. Geeez, California isn't that far away and 1 fender doesn't weigh very much..... I think I will try calling around again to some more local Nissan dealers this afternoon (no luck yesterday).
  2. Danny, Thanks for posting the Nissan part numbers for the fenders. I Googled the part numbers and found a place called myautobodyparts.com out of California that will sell the OEM fenders for only $107.09 each plus shipping. They did not list a phone number, so I could only e-mail them to find out what the shipping cost would be (still waiting for a reply). Has anyone ever dealt with this place before?
  3. Eric, Oh man, what an adventure! I'm really glad you were able to buy the white 240 and for such a great price! As for the brown one, no wonder they didn't show the front on the car on the Ebay pics. Sounds like the white one is pretty solid. As of the time of this posting, the pics of the car weren't in your gallery yet, but I will check it out tonight when I get home.
  4. All of the serial numbers were matching and the engine block matched the engine number on the data plate. Judging from the pictures, there must have been $800.00 in brand new parts that came with the car. I would say that the buyer did very well on this Series I car and the seller screwed up. He did the right thing by starting the bidding at $5,000.00, but he should have let the auction run its course for the full 7 days and not have the low Buy It Now.
  5. I saw this listed this morning and knew that it was priced too low. It started out at $5k and had a Buy-it-Now price of $6,500.00. It sold in just 24 hours for the Buy-it-Now...no surprise when you give it away.. here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4618969394&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
  6. Brain, I think that's really cool! The pics & layout look really good. Tell us more about what the article said (since most of us can't read Japanese).
  7. Looks like the white one Art was talking about was sold back on February 11. Unfortunately for Eric, it only states that the car must be paid for within 2 weeks of auction end and doesn't give a time frame of when the buyer needs to pick up the car. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8037361020
  8. Sounds reasonable for a new fender. DKD021, which club discount are you referring to?
  9. Not as far as I know. Obvious things like the weight of the car and the bigger bumpers on the 260 & 280 affected things, but the body is the same in both length and width. That's why all of the body parts like the hood, front fenders, rear quarter panels, rear hatch, windshield, etc are all interchangeable.
  10. Thanks, guys. I didn't realize that new fenders were still available from Nissan. How much $ are we talking about?
  11. Having some serious problems with the fit of the aftermarket left front fender on my '72 240. Does anyone have a good used original one from a 240, 260 or 280 they would be willing to sell to me for a reasonable price? I would only be interested in a factory original and not an aftermarket fender. Thanks!
  12. Have a safe trip, Eric. I'm looking forward to see more pics of the car.
  13. Yeah, I think it's a great idea if looks are what your goal is. If you do this, just be sure to change out the grill (with turn signals), lower valances for 240 parts...ahh, probably easier said than done, huh?
  14. Or this one for the best pose INSIDE a Zcar Contest
  15. Hey Guys, check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240Z-72-240Z-SOLID-CAR-98K-ORIG-MILES-5-SPEED-WHITE-RED_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ4618367043QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  16. Went for a bargain basement price, in my opinion: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4616524502&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
  17. Ken, Huge difference in the before & after pics. Thanks for taking the time to take the pics & post your story. I'll have to pick up the 2 Meguiar's products you mentioned and try it out on my tailights!
  18. Here's a very clean Series I for sale at a classic car dealership in Bradenton: http://www.autabuy.com/Vehicles/Details.cfm?VID=41594
  19. The hand throttle is already up to $23.50 with nealry 5 days left at the time of this posting....must be a tough item to find. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2F%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D8041914254%2B%26fvi%3D1&item=8041914254
  20. Guys, The Red '73 (that was sanded down & now looks pink) is still sitting there, along with a couple more that didn't sell (see below). They have had 8 Zs listed on Ebay in the last couple weeks and these Zs should all still be there, at least for a while. Remember the old car collector's motto "Don't crush 'em restore 'em!" http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-Datsun-240Z-Excellent-project-car-red-pink-color_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6783QQitemZ8039571233QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1974-Datsun-260z-Good-Parts-Project-Car-Preppy_W0QQitemZ8036964601QQcategoryZ6783QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Black-1976-Datsun-240Z-Great-project-car-2-2-new_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6783QQitemZ8039574960QQrdZ1
  21. Yeah, I think it's at a pretty low price for the general condition of the car ($2,550.00 with just under 2 days left at the time of this posting). I've had my eye on this one and even e-mailed the seller with a couple questions late last week. One of the questions I asked was if he by any chance still had the original engine lying around and he said no. I really want to find a 1970 with a low VIN like this one, but with mataching numbers. Even without the original matching engine, it's still a bargain right now. I would say for any of our SoCal members to check this one out. Here is a link the seller provided for addtional pics: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=4333247&a=32096959&f=
  22. ER, I almost feel responsible for what you're going through right now, since I was the one who started the "Two Zs in the Desert Going Cheap" thread. I think the car is a real bargain and from the 2 pics the seller provided, there only looks to be a little surface rust on the car. I would also say that since you are making a semi-vaction out of the trip and stopping by the Grand Canyon, it's worth the trip. However, just to be on the safe side, I would recommend that you contact members Red-Eye and RAZ1 who both live in the Albuquerque area to check out the car for you.
  23. I think the guy should relist it under "Clown Cars", maybe Barnum & Bailey will place a bid on it!
  24. Almost 2 years ago #390 sold for only $510.00, but this one was absolutley on the low end of the spectrum! It had a lot of rust and some of the members here thought it wasn't even worth restoring: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13282 On the opposite end of the spectrum is the $40,000.00 one that Chris referenced. Not sure where yours falls- Can you post some pics for us?
  25. ER, I'm glad that you were able to buy the brown one! I was hoping that one of the members would buy this 240 from these people. I think you got a heck of a deal on it. Once you get the car back to Sacramento, be sure to post some pics and tell us more about the car. Raz, That's good to know that there are a lot of 240's down there -sounds like NM is similar to AZ with the dry, hot weather and plenty of rust-free Zs, but a lot closer to Denver! As I mentioned in an earlier post, I would have loved to have bought one of the 240s available to restore, but I don't have room for another project at this time. By the way, the red '73 is still available and is only at $100.00 with just under 5 hours left at the time of this post: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-Datsun-240Z-Excellent-project-car-red-pink-color_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6783QQitemZ8039571233QQrdZ1
