  1. The car hasn't been driven since 1978. Here's the link: https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/d/chesterton-1971-datsun-owner-miles-all/7148498052.html
  2. It would be interesting to find out where the 37 VZ cars are currently located, at least by country. I assume that most of them are located in the U.S., but I have heard that there are a few in Japan and in Europe.

  4. I agree with you, Dave. I wonder if the seller still has the stock steel wheels and the Z hubcaps?
  5. It's been just a little less than a year since the last Vintage Z Program Car was on BaT. Here's the link to the latest one: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z-127/
  6. Looks really plain without the emblems. I've seen some Series I cars without them before. It's a relatively easy fix to install a new set of Series I 240Z emblems.
  7. Unfortunately, those days of $500 Z-cars are long gone. However, I did purchase a '73 240Z without an engine or gearbox that was actually pretty solid about 4 and a half years ago for only $500 as a "Parts Car" for my two '71 240Z projects. As values kept going up over the last few years, I ended up selling it as a "Project Car" a few months ago for about 4 times the amount I originally paid for the car. I've seen some project Z-cars pop up on Craigslist from time to time, that are priced between $1,500 to $2,500, but unfortunately, they usually have a lot of rust issues.
  8. I think you are right about auto enthusiasts with too much time on their hands and spending money! I'm pretty sure that the 5-speed was an option, as well as the optional alloy wheels (this car has the wheel covers), but I could be wrong, as I am a 240Z guy and don't know a lot about 280Zs.
  9. I agree with siteunseen, it doesn't look too bad. It most likely can be rebuilt to like-new condition. What year is your 240Z and what engine is in the car now?

  11. UPDATE: I spoke with the owner Dave and he told me that just minutes after he posted his listing on Craigslist that he had numerous phone calls for days that were not only located in all parts of the US, but also from Europe. He insisted that the six 240Zs be sold as a package and he had multiple parities bidding on the 240Zs. A gentleman from California was the winning bidder and he flew to Spokane to meet the seller, inspect the cars and see that all 6 cars were loaded on the carrier company's truck. The seller also mentioned that the new owner already owns a few 240Zs and is very passionate about 240Zs and plans to restore an keep all six of the cars. The seller also told me that the two 260Zs and the all 280Zs and 280ZXs were all still available.
  12. If I were the seller, I would do the same thing if I was inundated with phone calls. Don't worry abut selling each car individually, sell all 6 of the 240Zs to highest bidder or even sell all 14 Zs to the same bidder!
  13. Here's the link: https://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/d/spokane-collection/7137154337.html "Field of Dreams: (14) Datsun Z project cars - must go. Retirement reality = deals on one or all cars. 14. Welcome, AndyWalter007! That's great that you bought HLS30-27805! Looks like you have made some great progress with the car! Please keep us updated with additional pictures as the restoration progresses.
  15. Looks like our friendly Beverly Hills Z-Car Dealer bought the '71 Series I race car about a month ago and now has it listed on eBay for $9850.00. Here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Datsun-Z-Series-240Z/164223334102?hash=item263c7936d6:g:EsYAAOSwBDle0HjU
  16. Thanks, @EuroDat Yes, I called the seller this morning to confirm if the fan shroud was plastic or metal and he said that it was plastic. I'm going to continue my search for a metal fan shroud. Steve
  17. It's been over a year since we've seen any progress on #304. How are things coming along?
  18. This poor '72 240Z is a basket case, but there looks to be a lot of parts available for those of you who live in the Houston area. Here's the link: https://houston.craigslist.org/pts/d/houston-240z-datsun-parts-only-for-sale/7128773961.html
  19. Thank you for clarifying things for me, Chas. There's a 2-piece plastic shroud on eBay right now, the listing states that it will fit '70 thru 8-74 240Zs and 260Zs and the seller is asking $300.00 for it - seems very high to me for a plastic shroud. I remember seeing metal shrouds going for that kind of money on eBay a few years ago.
  20. I came across a plastic 240Z fan shroud for sale. I used to have a metal one on one of my earlier 240Zs. Were the the plastic fan shrouds for later 260Zs and 280Zs? Thanks in advance, Steve
  21. The seller left a lot of money on the table on that '71 240Z. Heck, you pay more than that for a solid one that needs a paint job and has no drive train nowadays.
  22. You're welcome, Roland! I hope that they have what you are looking for. Steve
