  1. Hey guys, I have a nice set of "D" hub caps listed on Ebay and wanted to get your opinions on them. My teenage son and I originally intented to put this set (our best set or "A" set) on our '71, but decided to put them up for auction and use our "B" set instead since we need more money for our two Z restorations. How do the pics look to you guys? Do you think we will get a good price for them? Here's the link, please tell me what you think: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-240-Z-Hub-Caps-Hubcaps-Wheel-Covers_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33744QQitemZ8029687551QQrdZ1
  2. My son and I are trying to install a stock AM/FM radio (from a '72) in our '71 240z. We took out an aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM tape deck and found all kinds of spliced wires and a custom harness for the Pioneer. Does anyone know how the stock radio should be wired or have a radio harness diagram?
  3. Bidding just ended and it went for $11,900.00. This is good news for all of us 240z owners, the values just keep rising!
  4. Hmmm..... I'm only about 2.5 hours away from Laramie and the weather has been nice lately..... but...no, I have no where to put the car since I have two other projects going right now..... Kenz240z lives in Longmont, so he's only about 1.5 hrs from Laramie.....What do you say Ken?
  5. I found that Victoria British has better pricing on Side marker gaskets, front turn signal gaskets & tail light gaskets. And oh, their price on the rubber gas door flap is also a lot cheaper.
  6. Yeah, accidents like that are always scary...reminds of the this video clip I posted last July: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18053&highlight=motorcycle+accident
  7. I'm glad to hear things worked out for you as far as the VIN is concerend. Before the whole VIN fiasco began, you asked for our opinions on what to do about the later rear hatch.... I would try to find a Series I rear hatch, if I were you. I realize that they are hard to come by, but I think you would be much happier in the long run. As a matter of fact, I know a local Datsun mechanic who has his own shop here in the Denver area and specializes in Z parts. He has a lot of spare parts and ther's a good chance that he has one available. Try calling Bob Bush at "Fortunate WheelZ" 303-798-9822. Phoenix is just over 500 miles from Denver, so the shipping shouldn't be too bad, especially if you buy it without the glass. Good luck with your Series I project!
  8. Looks like it went for just over $900.00. It's definitely a Series I, since it has the rear air vents, "240Z" quarter panel emblems, Series I steering wheel (plugged holes on the spokes), etc. Ken is right, if it's a rust bucket, there's still some good parts on it, but I don't think it's worth $900.00 plus whatever the transportation costs would be. Judging from the pictures, it looks like a very wet & humid place (located on an island!)
  9. Yeah, Speed is showing a few old car-related movies. I was just watching the famous chase scene through the streets of San Francisco on "Bullitt" with Steve McQween. Bullitt (McQueen)was driving his green Mustang fastback (68?) and chasing 2 bad guys in a big black Dodge Charger. When the chase was done, I turned the channel! Here's some pics in case you missed it:

  11. Mohamed, It looks like you started out checking the right places (Victoria British & Motorsport). If you think they are too expensive, you may try doing a Google search or look on Ebay. Good luck!
  12. This guy must be Mr. Magoo or someone, because he can't seem to be able to read the serial number of this '71 Series I 240z correctly. Someone even asks him to take a second look at the serial # and he still manages to screw it up! Anyways, for a Series I in need of a lot of work the price seems fairly reasonable (a little over $800.00 with 8 hours left at the time of this posting) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1971-Datsun-240Z-Classic-Sportscar_W0QQitemZ4592224617QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  13. I love beautiful & original Zs like this one!
  14. Yeah, once originals in good condition become hard to find and start to become too expensive, companies start reproducing them. Just take a look at how much this original set recently went for on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4589003723&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT AND... this NOS set went for even more: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8011203228&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
  15. Hi Ken! Your Z certainly has come a long way (I checked out your gallery) since my son and I saw it parked in front of Erie Auto Parts' office shortly after we spoke to you that day! The paint on our '71 (Orange 918) was just finished on Halloween (appropriate day for the color). We found a great body & paint guy that is a perfectionist! We hope to have the interior finished by the end of next month when my son is on Christmas break. Our first Z (the '72) should have the paint done by the end of January.
  16. I'm looking to buy a FPR (Fiberglass) headlight bucket (passenger side) with all 3 studs in good shape. I have a couple of other FPR passenger ones, but they are both missing at leaset 1 stud each. Please PM me if you have one.to sell. Thanks!
  17. Ken, Yes, that is a good way to restore the old emblems without having to buy new ones. My teenage son has been using the same process for quite some time now. Ken, I think my son and I ran into you at Erie Auto Parts about a year and a half ago or so, you were checking out the blue '73 240Z on the Northwest side of the junkyard and you told us about Blake's, Speedway and T&D's.
  18. Duffman, Welcome and we all anxiously await the pics! California sure seems to have a lot of early, low VIN 240s. The warm, dry Southern California weather (like you have in AZ) helps a lot since rust is not an issue like it is in most places around the country. Also, there are probably more 240Zs located in California than the rest of the states combined due to population and the sheer numbers that were originally purchased there 35 years ago. Here's another low VIN (#2864) located in California that only got bid up to slightly over $700.00, had 30 bids and did not meet the reserve. How can you have 30 bids on a 1970 240z (no mater what the condition) and only get up to $700.00? Granted, the car needs a lot of work, but if it was located geographically closer to me, I would certainly consider buying it for a project: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-240Z-SERIES-ONE-NOT-260Z-280Z-1970-2864_W0QQitemZ4586180022QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. Who needs the Bat Signal when Batman could have a set of those Bat Wheels!

  22. I wonder if the boat in the yard next to the Fairlady is a stray and just washed up there during the storm? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240z-Datsun-Z-RHD-Fairlady-240Z-G-nose-wide-body-kit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ4578830440QQrdZ1
  23. Xray, Thanks for posting the pics! I think they look good. Like you said, they aren't exactlly like the originals, but they are are pretty darn close and quite a bit cheaper than the other ones out there. I'm anxious to get mine. Just curious, how long was the waiting period between ordering and delivery for you?
  24. I just purchsed some 240z vinyl seat covers for my '71 on Ebay. I bought these since they were about $50.00 less than the ones from Too Intense Restoration. I will let you know what they are like once I get them and put them on.
