  1. The winning bid of $760.00 on eBay seems high, especially if the buyer has to pay to transport the car some place. But the asking price of $3,000.00 on the earlier Craigslist ad was absolutely insane.
  2. Yes, the radio face plate looks really plain - even homemade. As far as the car is concerned, just a little over an hour left on this no reserve auction at $10,600.00 with 49 bids at the time of this post. Looks to be a very solid car with the original matching numbers, but still needs to be cleaned up a little bit. I'm sure with 49 bids so far, that there will be a lot more bids on the car by the time the auction is over.
  3. As most of us know, the '70 and '71 240Zs came equipped with Hitachi AM radios. This '71 has a radio that looks similar to a Hitachi AM/FM radio that were standard on '72 and '73 240Zs, but this one is different. Does anyone know what this is?
  4. A Series I car that looks to be originally 905 Red! It's tough to tell from the pictures, but it looks fairly solid, but needs to be seen in person to really tell. Perhaps one of our Seattle area members can check it out.
  5. The seller is brand new to eBay and it really shows. The only thing that is stated in his description is "needs restoration" ......You think?????
  6. Here's a thread about junkyard Zs that some of you may be familiar with. Just as Jim Arnett recently found the '73 240Z, there are still a good number of Zs that can be found in American salvage yards today. I know that here in Colorado, there aren't as many as there used to be, but they still can be found.
  7. Holy smokes! Sadly, this car is nothing but a parts car. And it doesn't look that there are very many good parts left besides the rear hatch glass with the vertical defogger lines!
  8. I agree. It also pales in comparison to this beauty sold at Amelia Island for $253k in 2015: http://silodrome.com/nissan-fairlady-z-432/
  9. If this old 911 rust bucket sold for $29K, surely this Series I 240Z should sell for at least $2k, what do you think? http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-porsche-911-coupe-3/
  10. Listing states that the car has its original engine and transmission: https://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/6022275285.html

  12. Good to hear that you got her home safe and sound! Thanks for letting us know and for posting the pictures. You're right, your Z is an amazing time capsule! By the way, what's the story with the other 240Z at the DMV?
  13. It still has its original Hitachi AM radio and Series I steering wheel. Just those 2 items combined is over $700.00 in value.
  14. Good luck with everything and they should let you keep the blue plates since the car is staying in California. After you get the car home, please give us an update.
  15. The subject car is a '72 model year that was built in 10/71. So with that in mind, it's going to have the '72-'73 condole, the Hitachi AM/FM radio, etc. Early '72 models that were built from 9/71 through 12/71 also didn't have the retractable seats belts and the seat belt light/alarm. A lot of these early '72 models also had the vertical defogger lines in the rear hatch glass.
  16. Welcome, Space Cowboy! Your 260Z looks to be solid and also good to see that it's an early 260z with the smaller bumpers.
  17. That's great! Please let all of us know how things are going with the car once you get it home.
  18. I would have loved to have bought this car. However, I have two '71 projects that I've invested in and at the present time, I'm not in a position to buy another 240Z. But trust me, I was very tempted! Congrats to KStewart! You have just purchased one of the most original 240Zs that has been for sale in recent memory. I see that you joined ClassicZcars in July of 2016 and it looks like you only made one bid and it was at the very end of the eBay auction. Just curious, did you know already know about the car or did you first see it in this thread?
  19. This very original, un-restored early 1972 model year 240Z (built in 10/71) with its original paint and most everything else. Below is are the eBay link as well as the photobucket link. Time is running out on this solid California car! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Datsun-Z-Series-/122363182166?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1c7d69fc56:g:SMYAAOSwax5YqkkB&item=122363182166 http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o230/grrinc/1972 Datsun 240z/IMG_0373_zpsgu3f6le6.jpg
  20. Yeah, who would list the car on Craigslist and then use eBay Motors to handle the financial part of the transaction? Doesn't make any sense.
  21. That '73 has been on Hemmings for a couple of years now.
  22. Here's the link: https://tippecanoe.craigslist.org/cto/6005837885.html
  23. Thanks for taking the time to check the car out, Jim. Sounds like it is in worse condition than what it looks in the pictures. The seller may have let the air out of the tires so you can't see how bad the underside of the car really is. I agree - it would make a good parts car.
  24. Hey, that '71 is a Series I car! The shell looks to be restorable.
