  1. The NOS ignition lock assembly that I bought on ebay will fit '70 through '78 Z-cars.
  2. Welcome, J! Congrats on your purchase of the two Series I cars! We look forward to the pictures.
  3. Here's the link: Datsun Z Series Pearl Black Special Addition | eBay
  4. What's the inside look like? Does it still have the early console with ash tray? How about the Hitachi AM radio, Series I speedometer, Series I steering wheel, etc?
  5. Joe, I agree with the others, this one is a parts car and nothing more. Since 240Zs rust form the inside out, this car is actually a lot worse than it appears in the pictures. It's a shame that this car sat outside in the wet, humid climate of Georgia for so many years. I noticed in one of the pictures (see below) that there are 2 other 240Zs in the background...what's the story with those 2 cars?
  6. I had the same troubles on my '71 and bought an NOS ignition lock assembly with 2 new keys on Ebay for $193.00 including shipping. It works great!
  7. On my '71 904 White, I bought the blue diamond vinyl for the transmission tunnel from Motorsport Auto and it fit very well.
  8. Besides the L28, 5-speed and the '70-'72 front bumper that were mentioned, it has the earlier carbs. Also in '73 (and '72), the 904 White cars only had red interiors. So this one either had the interior converted to black or the paint color was changed. The rear bumper center is a '73 (you can tell by the placement of the rear guards), but the rear bumper guards are '70 -'72. It's tough to tell by the picture, but the radio looks to be aftermarket.
  9. J, Not sure what Oiluj did since we haven't heard back from him yet, but my son and I sold our original red interior plastic panels on Ebay and bought some very nice used original black panels locally. If I remember correctly, it all worked out about even in terms of what we spent and what we sold the red panels for.
  10. Jerry, Very cool, I love FJ40s! It's very unusual to see a rust-free one. Almost every FJ40 I've ever seen has rust or at least has had rust repairs. They are very similar to 240Zs when it comes to rust.
  11. I like the red interior/silver exterior a lot better than the red interior/white exterior on 240Zs. Many years ago, I used to have a silver Corvette with red leather interior and I loved that combination!
  12. My understanding is that at least in the in the US & Canada, ALL of the 901 Silver and 904 White cars had Red interiors in 1972 and ALL of the 904 White cars in 1973 had the Red interior (versus just some (50% or less ??) of the the 903 Blue and 904 White cars had the Blue interior in '70 and '71). With this in mind and according to Zhome.com, there were nearly double the number of '72 & '73 models sold in North America versus the '70 & '71 models, making Blue the rarest interior color.
  13. Here's the link to the craigslist listing: Serial number 201 datsun 240 z 1970 - $3999 Serial number 201 datsun 240 z 1970 - $3999 - $3999 (Eldon/lake area) I am selling my serial # 201 240z. it was actually built in 1969 making it in about the bottom 50 lowest serial numbered cars in the world! It needs full restoration but I have many new parts and half of the rust restoration completed ( engine compartment area is done and primered) I even have replacement quarterpanels new and the hatch jam area Nissan panel new. I also have new interior door panels and a headliner. I also have all the hardware replated. The SU carburetors are totally rebuild and replated so look like new. ( they alone sell for $1500 on eBay) I even have the 4 original tires, hubcaps and the stock wheels! I'm thinking around $7999 would get everything including the roticery, 8 cars worth of spare plated and sorted bolts and all my spare parts such as 1 spare engine and 2 spare transmissions. It also comes with the original Nissan microfiche and a microfiche viewer. I will give $500 to whoever sells it for me. It is towable. I have the rear drums off, 4 good tires on it and a towbar with a 2" ball size bolted to the front. I towed it from Dallas tx to here in central mo no problem. I'm selllling cause I'm moving and having to give up my 3000 sq ft building where it is stored. There are enough parts to build this car then sell off the extra parts and make enough money to fund the new parts you need. For instance there are 3 rear quarter panels (need 2) and 4 taillights (2) and 4 "dogleg" bottom front of the quarterpanel (need 0) and 5 sill panels (2) and 2 hatch interior plastic panels (need 1) and 5 rear side interior plastic panels (2) and 3 corner front blinker lenses (2) and 2 roof plastic panels (need 1) and on and on for pages! Many pictures can be seen at: http://www.datsunclassifieds.com/autos/datsun/240z/serial-number-201-1970-datsun-240z-1969-7-999.00-3817.html?highlight Cash only No trades
  14. After you mentioned "working towards this combo" (White exterior with Blue Interior), I realized that I needed to update both my signature and my profile. Thank you for reminding me it's been quite some time since I last updated it. My '71 came with that very rare combo and I kept it that way. I replaced the seat covers, door panels, headliner and the diamond vinyl on the transmission tunnel, but the rest is all the original blue interior. My understanding is that the blue interior was limited to just some of the 903 Blue and 904 White '70 and '71 models. I still have the original blue door panels from the car.
  15. My son and I made an interior color change on a '72 240Z that we bought in 2004 and ended up selling her back in 2008. The original interior color was red (904 white exterior). My son and I decided to change the interior to black. It was a lot of work, but we thought it came out looking pretty good. I have attached the only before picture I have and few of the after pictures. The door panels were in good used condition that we bought locally. The sun visors as well as the black diamond vinyl was also all in good used condition that we bought on Ebay. The seat covers (along with new foam, etc) were new and the carpets were also new (I bought them from member Xray here on the website).
  16. Moonpup, Yes, I see it next to the red Mustang, looks to be a late '71 or '72! Casper is only about a 4 hour drive north from where I live here in the south metro Denver area.
  17. Robert, How did things go in Waxahachie? Were you able to buy any Zs?
  18. Good little article, thanks for posting. I didn't realize that Mr. K was 104 either -I thought he was still in his '90s.
  19. I looked up the 2 cars on Boise, ID Craigslist that you referenced and the asking price for the orange '72 is $6k and the black '72 is $5.2k. There is a '71 that is located in Eagle, ID and is listed for only $5k and looks significantly under priced to me. I have posted some pics below and here's the link: Datsun 240Z, 1971 S30
  20. Jim, That's a lot of Z-cars! No 240Zs but as the seller's listing mentions: "Collected them for a while but now want to get rid of them. They range from Datsun 260Z to one Nissan 300ZX. Come and take your pick for $1,000 Some maybe less. Call 972-935-9242" I'm sure the seller is willing to make a deal and a buyer could purchase a car for a lot less than $1k.
  21. Sounds like Z-Car Source of Arizona and others have bought up all of the old Z-Cars out of the junkyards in the Phoenix area. I guess the only alternative is to buy from a private party on Craigslist, etc. Nothing like an S30 that spent its entire life in the Arizona desert....I absolutely love my rust-free example!
  22. Wade, Most of the pics were pulled more recently with the exception of the silver 280z with the hood that you like -it was in a folder from 2011 and I don't have any notes on it - so I'm sorry to say that I'm sure that it's long gone by now.
  23. That's a good one, Wade! A wooden gas cap.....that's the first time I think I've ever seen that before. That picture may be the saddest Z, but to me, the picture below from post #45 of his thread posted back in 2008 is the loneliest Z I've ever seen.
  24. That's strange, I always thought of AZ as one of the few places where Zs and rust-free Z parts were abundant. Heck, there's even several Z-car companies based in the Phoenix area that sell used and reproduction Z-car parts, others that have stockpiled Zs & old Z parts and others that do Z-car restorations. In fact, I bought my latest project in the Phoenix area a few years ago from a private seller and it was virtually rust-free after spending its entire life there. I passed on the car since the seller wanted $1,800.00 for it. I thought that was too much to spend for a Series I parts car since it was too rusted out to restore. Not sure what happened to the car since it's no longer on Craigslist.
