  1. Mike W, Just curious, what did Speed Sport Chrome charge you to plate your 280Z bumpers? Also, do you happen to know what they charge to plate the '70 - '72 240Z bumpers? I'm sure that the 240Z bumpers must be a lot less since they are so much smaller and lighter. I know a lot of the members here with 280Zs have converted to the 240Z bumpers. I have been using Denver Bumper here in the Denver area for many years on my projects and like you with SSC, I have also been very happy with both their quality and their great service, so I'm curious to see what SSC charges. Thanks

Here's a Datsun Patrol for sale in Nebraska: 1969 nissan patrol
  4. Most of the guys on that show are ignorant, foul-mouthed jerks. I've really never watched much of this show before, but watching this particular episode made me sick to my stomach.
  5. Good points, I really didn't pay close enough attention to the pictures. The Pelican product in Arne's post looks like it has the same shortcomings as well with the vertical and horizontal bars. However, I could see a serious classic car restorer that already has a traditional rotisserie, buying one of these new products and using both.
  6. Arne, I think both the Roller Hoop and the Pelican product look like excellent and much more efficient alternatives to the traditional and very outdated rotisseries that we have all come to know over the years. I believe that portability and maneuverability are the 2 bid advantages for these 2 new rotisserie products.

  8. Definitely not stock and I don't think affects the heat whatsoever. Personally, I prefer the stock look. Here's another 240Z that someone painted both the valve cover and the air filter housing black: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/open-zcar-discussion/48790-nice-73-240z-original-paint-low-documented-miles-sale.html
  9. Looks like the seller now has the car listed on Ebay as well as locally on Craigs List. Here's the link: Datsun : Z-Series 240-Z in Datsun | eBay Motors
  10. Thanks, Brian. That's good to know. As soon as the weather gets warmer and the snow melts from a recent storm, I'll find some place to drive my Z and get this done. I recently bought a spare shifter off of Ebay just in case something happens to the existing one when I get a shop to bend it for me. Thanks again and I'll let you know how it works out.
  11. I purchased my '71 off the Phoenix Craig's List a few years back. Just like the subject car, mine spent its whole life in the Phoenix area and is rock solid with no rust and has all of its original body panels. After this experience, when looking for another future project, I will always focus on the Phoenix area. It's important to note that a lot of transplants from all over the country brought their Zs with them when they moved there, so be sure to do some research on the car's history.
  12. Located in the Phoenix area. You don't see too many unrestored 240Zs in this condition anymore. Here's the link: 1973 Datsun 240Z ***RARE Original Condition***
  13. Bart, MJR45 is going to try and buy the whole car, so I'm backing off on trying to buy any parts. '70 -'72 rear bumper center sections (or entire rear bumpers) show up on Ebay at least 3 times a month, so I would check things out there.
  14. Sorry, just noticed this morning that I pasted the e-mail last night by mistake, which was too late to try to edit my post. Here's the link: 240 -Z ...Datsun for parts or complete

Among the Z parts for sale in this listing, there is a tool kit for only $10.00, here's the link: 72 DATSUN Z PARTS
  16. Below is the link for this 240Z rotting away in a field near Lincoln, Nebraska. Bart, it has the correct rear bumper center piece you need for your '71. kmz5c-3610227314@sale.craigslist.org
  17. Ollie, your car is absolutely beautiful! You must have consulted Norm Murphy of Zeddsaver on all the correct finishing touches. I have purchased some parts from Norm, including some cadmium-plated items and have also received some excellent advise over the phone on what is and what is not correct stock. By the way, I saw the picture of your car in your 1st post of this thread (before the restoration) at the Garden of the Gods Park with Pikes Peak in the background.....did you buy your car in Colorado?
  18. Hi Bart, Yes, the red car is a '73. You can tell by the larger rear bumper guards which are mounted a little further apart than the guards on 70 -'72 bumpers. From what I understand, this makes it tough if you want to install the new rubber strips on a '73 rear bumper since only the longer '70 -'72 rubber strips are still available (see picture below). I also understand that the same goes for '73 front bumpers as well.
  19. Mike, Here's a picture of an ID plate that was either on the car that you referenced or on the second to the last car shown from the bottom (rusty one):
  20. Since it's been a while that there's been any activity on this thread, I thought I would post some pics:

After taking a second look at the blue one for sale, I just noticed that the windshield only covers about 2/3 of what it should! Still, for only $900.00 it seems like as good deal.

I came across this one on Craig's List for sale in Oregon for only $900.00: choped 240z Personally, I prefer the factory original 240Zs, but I have to be honest, I kind of like the sleek look, especially the black one (below) in the Car Domain article that Mr. Camouflage started this thread with. The baby blue one presently for sale in Oregon (also below) doesn't look nearly as nice.
  23. That's good to know. Thanks, Guy. Sounds like I will need to drive my car somewhere that can modify the shifter and test it in the car, rather than removing the shifter and then taking it someplace.
  24. I would recommend selling your re-chromed '73 guards, buy some '70-'72 guards and then use your 4-bolt rubber strips. The larger '73 guards were set closer to far ends of the bumper than the '70-'72 guards were and in my opinion would not look right on the older bumper. Besides, as you have found out, it's going to be tough trying to find some '73 rubber guards and your re-chromed guards should sell quickly.
  25. Siteunseen, Thanks for the link, I appreciate your response. The only thing is that the picture of the S-shaped shifter on the zcarz.us website is no different than the stock shifter that comes on the Type B transmission (see 1st pic below). It needs to have more of a bend at the lower part of the shifter like the shifter that Brian modified on Post #13 in order for a '70/'71 console to fit (see 2nd & 3rd pics below). I'm hoping that someone manufactures one like this.
