  1. I agree with you, Mike. It's the same car. Still has the same '72-'73 console, ID plates are identical, same engine, etc. I also agree with Bigoak, a very amateurish & hasty job with terrible bodywork & paint. I would love to have a '69 production year Z, but this one scares me and it's priced way too high for its condition.
  2. Yeah, I sure did. My bad. Before I started the thread I looked under "Open Zcar Discussion" and didn't see anything on it..... I guess "Funnybone" is probably a more appropriate place since this car is really not a Zcar anymore and truly is a joke!
  3. Check this out... I remember seeing magazine articles when I was a kid of some American muscle cars made into 4x4's, but I've never seen it done to a Z-Car. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6187&viewitem=&item=220238180080&_trksid=p3907.m29
  4. Those wheels and center caps are after-market and not stock and I'm not sure where you can find them. Can any1 (anyone) else help?
  5. The 610 is in remarkable condition, especially considering you found it in a junkyard! I agree with Stephen and would buy it over the 280Z if I were you. The rust on the 280 in the lower front fenders is really bad and has most certainly rusted through to the front end of the rocker panels underneath. If it were a 240Z and depending on what the price was, it might be worth it, but not a 280. Again, nice find on the 610.
  6. Very nice work, Ken! Just curious, how did the backside of the hub caps turn out?
  7. Julio, I had no problem with the camber or any irregular tire wear. The Eibach Pro Stock springs will lower the car about 1-inch from the stock springs (in my case it raised it about an inch because it had some really low after-market springs on it that I replaced). I think that you will really like the Eibachs.
  8. I like the Eibach Pro Kit springs. I had them installed, along with some new Tokico HP struts on my 918 Orange '71 right before I sold it about a year ago. The car rode and handled great.
  9. My '71 has the blue interior and has a blue plastic rear interior panel. The SEM spray paints have a flexible coating. If you are going to use black, SEM #15243 (Satin Black) will work well.
  10. Here's some 240Zs that seem to be reasonably low-priced: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-Datsun-240Z_W0QQitemZ160235266758QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item160235266758& http://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/car/663978983.html http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240-1973-Datsun-240-Z-automatic-california-car-low-reserve_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ019QQitemZ290226017906QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-D-E-Events-70-240-3-2-liter-So-Cal-car-no-rust-fresh-build_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ003QQitemZ130218613790QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/car/659963938.html http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-Datsun-240Z-4-Speed-Best-Running-Z-Ever-Cal-car_W0QQitemZ120255091741QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item120255091741& http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mint-Near-Mint-1972-Datsun-240Z-2-Door-Coupe_W0QQitemZ220229463224QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item220229463224&
  11. Yeah, and he wasn't far that off on his guess on the first car either!
  12. The second one sold for $7,425.00: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250235671618&rd=1
  13. Looks like the first car went for $9,300.00: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230241299728&rd=1
  14. As some of the members here have indicated in this thread, there are a lot of 240Z owners who haven't registered because they don't know about the Classic Z Car Register or the Zhome site or don't use the Internet. What we need to do as a collective group is to indivdually make a real effort to inform and encourage all 240Z owners that we know of or ever run into, to register their cars on the Classic Z Car Register at http://ZHome.com.
  15. I agree with Carl in terms of the A/Ts and being located in California for these two cars. If the cars were for sale on the East Coast, they would be going for a lot more. Obviously, if a prospective bidder doesn't like the A/Ts, they can be changed out fairly inexpensively, but it's still going to hurt the sales price. The first one doesn't have a reserve, the second one does. My guess is the first one goes for $8k and the second one doesn't make the reserve.
  16. You make some good points, Deadflo. There certainly are a lot of 240Zs left in California and a good number in Arizona that weren't affected by the cold, wet weather and salted roads. Obviously, rust is the biggest killer of the 240Zs, followed by Zs that were involved in car crashes, then ended up in junk yards where they sat for years and rusted away or were crushed. I've probably seen at least a dozen 240Zs in junkyards here in Colorado over the past 4 years. Most of them were stripped down and had a good amount of rust. I agree that there are probably a lot of unknown 240s that are stored away and there's a very good chance that there are a lot more still in existence than the estimated 4000 or 5000 number that has been discussed in this thread.
  17. If you figure there are maybe 8 240Zs on average each week on Ebay and of the 8, maybe 6 are sold (the other 2 didn't make reserve and are usually re-listed at least once again) that would only make about 300 on average sold per year on Ebay. Obviously, this doesn't include any Zs sold by private party on Craigslist, Cars.com, local classifieds, etc.
  18. Here are the links for these two California "twins": http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230241299728&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=250235671618&rd=1
  19. Of the approximate 5000 240Zs that still exist, I would probably guess that less than half are even registered with the DMV and probably close to half of those cars are in California.
  20. Funny you mention that. I thought I saw a new 350Z that looked like 918 Orange while driving by a Nissan Dealership the other day and I had to look twice. I think it may have been that Saffron color that you see on some other newer Nissan cars & trucks. I'm not sure if that is what Nissan calls that color, but I only use Saffron because that is what Volvo called it when they came out with the limited production C70 T5 Coupe about 10 or 11 years ago (remember the movie "The Saint" that was released around the same time frame?)
  21. You got me as well.....I was all set to tell you what an idiot you were not to have insurance on your Z.
  22. Yes, items look to be in pretty good shape!
  23. OK, that makes it the third time this car has been on the auction block at BJ: 2005 Scottsdale: $12,500.00 2006 Palm Beach: $10,700.00 2008 Palm Beach: $??????
  24. Looks like the seller pulled the subject car off Ebay due to a mistake in the listing. I would assume it will be relisted. I think the car is a good candidate for restoration and shouldn't be parted out.
  25. My bad, the car actually sold at the 2005 Scottsdale auction not 2006.
