  1. Someone is asking $25,000.00 for this one....what does that equate to in American dollars? http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=3220265&current_rec=2&used_rec=0&total_rec=6&sort_type=&total_rec=6&sort_type=&make_id=37&model_id=2735&state_id=-1&search_distance=25
  2. D.A., Do you mind if I ask what you paid for the NOS factory antenna from Nissan? Do you know if they are still available?
  3. Wow, a 2+2 280Z voted as favorite at a Zcar show, that has to be a first! :squareeye
  4. Enrique, Thanks for all of the great information!
  5. I'm in need of 2 power antennas and my son and I have not had any luck with the 2 old originals. I am interested in this new one that Go240zags found on Ebay. Has anyone purchased one of these before? If so, how did the installation go and how well does it work?
  6. Here's some more Summer projects for sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-Datsun-240z-5spd_W0QQitemZ230000506745QQcategoryZ6783QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-datsun-240z-4-speed-complete_W0QQitemZ8076504656QQcategoryZ6783QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-Datsun-280z-z-COMPLETE-PARTS-CAR-2-2-240z-ENGINE_W0QQitemZ7043851407QQihZ014QQcategoryZ6763QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1972-DATSUN-240-Z-GREAT-PROJECT-CAR_W0QQitemZ4651872547QQihZ002QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSAN-DATSUN-240Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX-PARTS_W0QQitemZ8076988817QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/240Z-Datsun-Race-Car-Project-Set-up-Chevy-SB-N-Res-Ala_W0QQitemZ8076590207QQcategoryZ6783QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970s-240-Z-X-PROJECT-RAT-ROD_W0QQitemZ4653052012QQihZ002QQcategoryZ39405QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1976-Dastun-280Z-NO-RESERVE-5spd-not-ZX-240-260-300_W0QQitemZ250000417420QQihZ015QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. Dave, With 2 cars, I hate to spend $80.00 for 8 small pieces of rubber, so I am very interested in looking at your solution. Did you mount a rubber washer on either side of the bumper mounting plate or just one on the side that touches the body of the car?
  8. Thanks for helpful the info guys, I really appreciate it. At ZZXdatsun.com, that Mike W. discussed, they have two different pieces for the front and the back. The BO-52 (pic on the left) is for the front bumpers and the B0-53 (pic on the right) is for the rear bumpers. They have different pieces for the front and rear bumpers and call them "Reproduction front (or rear) bumper end bracket insulators 1970-1973" and as Mike W. menitoned, they are $10.00each. I love the price on the rubber washers that V8 240Z found, but I'm not sure if there would be enough rubber there to protect the car's finish from the metal mounting plate on the bumper. The ones at ZZXdatsun are square and look like they will cover the entire metal plate. It looks to me that the model BO-52, designed for the front is one solid piece of rubber instead of the stock "envelope" that covers the mounting plate front and back. It's hard to tell if the model BO-53 (rear) is the same way or not.
  9. Mike W. is correct, the rubber "shims" is what Motorsport calls them and they want $16.00 apiece for them. I have been looking for some of these, since I only have one and it is in bad condition (see pics). As Mike W. mentioned, they are slipped over the metal plates that are welded inside both the front and rear bumpers and are not visible from the outside. Motorsport is the only place I could find who sells them, but I refuse to pay the $16.00 per, especially since I need 4 sets of them for 2 cars.
  10. Cethern, I had a guy down in Colo Springs install them last year. Right now, I have a guy in Arvada doing the rest of the body work, paint, etc. on the '72.
  11. I bought the same "Premium Floor Pan Kit" with the frame rails from Motorsport for my '72 and they fit very well. They are a little thicker & stronger than the original pans and have the water drainage holes just like the originals. (I also bought the rubber plugs for the holes from Motorsport).
  12. Any members in the Scranton, PA area? Sounds like this guy has a TON of 240Z parts that could be bought for a song!
  13. Beandip, It is quite an interesting story, you should read through this thread from the begining when you get a chance.
  14. I had the same problem with the same exact part from MSA. As you guys probalby all know by now, MSA buys that particular part (among others) from Tabco. After waiting for a couple months, I cancelled the order with MSA when I found out I could order this part and other parts directly from Tabco for less money. I received the other parts I ordered from Tabco very quickly, except for the left-rear fender piece. Tabco told me that they did not manufacture that particular part, that ithey imported from overseas somewhere. I kept calling and checking in about once a month with Tabco and a couple times I was told that the manufacturer's mold for the piece was broken and that it would be another couple weeks. After about 6 months, I called Tabco and cancelled the order since my bodyman was waiting for the piece and he finally just made the piece by himself. I have had good luck and good service with both MSA and Tabco, with the single exception of this one piece. I really look at it as poor manufacturer support and not MSA's or Tabco's fault since they were the middlemen in this situation.
  15. There are currently 4 Series I 240s up for auction on Ebay (two '70s and two early '71s). One '70 is a sub-2000 and the other is a sub-4000. You hate to see the sub-2000 auctioned off and parted out.....hopefully someone will restore it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-HL53-1970-Datsun-240Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ4645635257QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240Z-1971-240Z-Series-One_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ002QQitemZ4646890548QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-datsun-240Z-series-1-3679_W0QQitemZ4646123747QQihZ002QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240-Z-1971-Datsun-240-Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ002QQitemZ4646341871QQrdZ1
  16. #1796, one of the lower VINs we've seen up for auction on Ebay for a while. If it didn't have such a low number, it would be a no-brainer to make this a parts car; HOWEVER, since it's #1796, the proper thing to do would be for one of our Indiana-area members to buy it and restore it! I think this car could be purchased for under $800.00.
  17. These bargain project cars seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately.... I'm just glad to see that the vast majority of our fellow members always try to restore the cars rather than part them out, then send what's left to the crusher. Here are a few more projects that are going for bargain-basement prices....well, the last one might actually fit the part-out and crush mold beter than restore, even though the seller says: "Great fixer upper for the collector, NO DEALERS PLEASE" : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1972-Datsun-240z-260z-280z-z-240-Nissan_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ4644462481QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240-Z-DATSUN-240-Z-HATCH-BACK-COUPE_W0QQitemZ4644261265QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-Datsun-240z-good-project-or-parts-car_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6783QQitemZ8068663000QQrdZ1 http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=25&paId=176758080&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=13&leadExists=true&criteria=K-%7CE-ALL%7CM-_65_%7CH-%7CD-_2998_%7CN-N%7CR-10000%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CX-antique%7CZ-80124&aff=national
  18. Devin, I agree with Bryan, the market isn't quite there yet. It looks, judging from the single picture you posted in your Gallery and sounds to be a very nice car. I would hold on to it if I were you, especially since it has such a strong sentimental value. Generally speaking, '72s aren't bringing as much money as '70 & '71s right now, probably because there are more of them out there. My advise would be to hold on to it for a few years, as values increase, you will get what you are looking for.
  19. Nice looking car Jayru....LUV the lime green! If you decide to sell it list it on Ebay, 240Zs in nice condition like your's seem to go for more $.
  20. BD280Z, Your 280Z looks great!! You should be very proud of all the work you put into it and how it turned out! Now that your BD is done, I'm anxious to see the progress of your new desert project -#4880!
  21. BD280Z, Congratulations on winning the auction! As you read through this thread, a number of us were all hoping that someone like you would win the auction and restore this sub-5000 Series I with its matching engine. I hope that you are able to get that all-important title for this car and join a select few that own one of the first 5000 HLS30's. Please keep us updated on the progress and post pics when you can. As you can see by the numbers of posts and views on this thread, your car has had a lot of member interest! :classic:
  22. Talk about penny-pinching cheapskates! 4 bids: $1,00, $1.04, $2.10 and the high bid of $2.35 with just over 3 hours remaining at the time of this post! You would think it's some little kids bidding on a toy car! This seller must be shaking his head in disbelief!
  23. If his father was the owner of the car, then there should be a way to get a title for this car! Does anyone know much about the subject of titles?
  24. Since the car has a 2400 valve cover, it is probably a sub-5000 Series I, correct? Carl and 26th-Z please help me out on this .....anyway, I would love to see this car restored and not parted-out. I'll bet a lot of members who live in the NE, the Midwest and other "Salt Belt" states, would love to have an early Series I like this one from the dry Arizona desert for a project. Like I said in an earlier post, I wish I had room for this car, but I don't and that is why I started this thread in the first place, in hope that one of our members would buy it and restore the car. Rust buckets should be parted out, not cars like this.
