  1. This '73 240 for sale in Reno, NV looks to be grossly under-priced. If this were on Ebay, the bidding would just begin at what they are asking! So for you members near Reno and Northern California, you may want to check this one out. Here's the link: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=25&paId=187161334&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=18&leadExists=true&criteria=K-%7CE-ALL%7CM-_65_%7CH-%7CD-_2998_%7CN-N%7CR-10000%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CX-antique%7CZ-80202&aff=denver
  2. Looks like they relisted the '72 and now they also have a red '73 and a '76 2+2, all going very cheap & pretty much rust-free. When you include these 3 cars, they had a total of 8 Z-cars for sale. Here are the links: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brown-Arab-1972-Datsun-240z-Parts-Project-Car_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6783QQitemZ8040059303QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-Datsun-240Z-Excellent-project-car-red-pink-color_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6783QQitemZ8039571233QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Black-1976-Datsun-240Z-Great-project-car-2-2-new_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6783QQitemZ8039574960QQrdZ1
  3. Zmouse, Give us some background on the 'Primadona".... I am not familiar with this car.
  4. Zfever, The white '73 that you were interested in is still available (at the time of this posting with 14 hours 20 minutes to go).....you can probably steal it for the minimum $300.00: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Snazzy-White-1973-Datsun-240z-Parts-Project-Car_W0QQitemZ8037361020QQcategoryZ6783QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. Yeah, you could tell the Corvette driver was not very skilled.. ....Dave, you handled the track very well and your car sounded great!
  6. Looks like the brown '72 sold for the very low Buy-it-Now price of $300.00. Out of all of them, that is the one I would have bought (too bad I don't have a place to put it..Albuquerque is just a little over 300 miles from Denver ). At the time of this posting the rest of the cars were all still available....which ones are you going to buy Robert?
  7. Looks like this seller has a few more Zs up for auction, along with a B210. They also relisted the white '73 for a few more days. None of these cars appear to have much rust at all and are going for very cheap prices. 8. Kurt, Glad to hear you are back safe & sound and you are happy with the car. Anxious to see the pics!
  9. You guys saw the listings... looks like this woman and her boyfriend are going to crush the these 2 Zs if they don't sell.... that would be a shame...you don't see too many 240s with such little rust.....just 1 day left on the '73 at the time of this posting. :disappoin
  10. Arne, I would recomend that you rent an engine lift/puller from your local rental store. It should only cost $20.00-$25.00 (about the same as your average health insurance co-payment) and you won't risk getting hurt!
  11. If I had a place to put these 2 cars I would drive down there and pick them up! These 2 cars are in the dry New Mexico desert, are being offered by the same seller and they look pretty free of rust, particularly the '72! 12. Nice find, Kurt. That's a very low VIN with the original matching number engine and at a very good price! I hope you have a safe and fun trip and please let us know when you get back. :classic:
  13. Marvis, I agree with the other members, either sell the salvageable parts or keep them and buy another 240Z and use the spare parts on it. I would recommend that you look for a 240Z in a warmer & dryer climate than Illinois. Preferably the Southwest U.S. (AZ, NM, CO, NV, TX or CA). Repairing rust is very expensive and you are better off paying more for a rust-free Z or one that has very little rust than buying an inexpensive one with a lot of rust. There's always solid 240s for sale on Ebay at fairly reasonable prices.
  14. I understand with the older American cars, it is a lot easier for forgers to switch VINs. I've heard stories of people who would buy old Shelby Mustang tags for $1-2K and forgers would then convert regular Mustang fastbacks into a Shelby GT350s and get away with it. Thankfully, with 240Zs, at least there are 4 places where the VIN is located and the engine has its own specific serial number (unlike those '60s muscle cars) I also think that the VIN on the firewall would be very difficult to change. With the old American muscle cars, assuming each car is in similar condition, a '65 Shelby GT350 is going to be worth at least 3 to 4 times as much as a '65 Mustang fastback or a '65 GTO is going to worth a lot more than a LeMans 2-door hardtop or convertible, etc. With the early Z's values rising considerably in recent years, there could be more problems like Ddezso just went through, but let's hope not.
  15. This guy will be lucky if he gets $3k for this car, it needs a lot of work.
  16. Yeah, it happens all the time. I found a '65 GTO in a junkyard north of Denver that I was interested in buying and restoring but.. the ID tag was gone (see pics). I'm sure the guy that took this off the car probably put it on their LeMans or Tempest and tried to pass off their GTO "Clone" as a real GTO....a real shame.
  17. Yeah, either that or he's inside one of those cars!
  18. Check this one out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-nissan-71-datsun-240z-not-camaro-mustang-chevelle-327-chevy_W0QQitemZ4607647494QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. Wow! You're right, it truly seems unreal. Moonpup is right, that Corvette is worth a lot of $$$ and I would love to be able to purchase & restore it. The 240Zs and the Camaro are great finds too, but that Fuelie Corvette has the most potential hands down. If you have more pics, please post them! Thanks for sharing your story with us!
  20. Arne, Chevy didn't start building Corvettes in Bowling Green, KY until late 1981. Before that they were built in St. Louis. At the new plant in Bowling Green, the fit & finish quality of the Corvette was greatly improved.
  21. I think some of the "Nissan 240z Restorations" have been sold in the $30k-plus neighborhood, but I don't know if any of these cars have ever been on the auction block at Barrett-Jacksons. After seeing what a lot of those cars went for in Scottsdale the past few days, I would say that 240Zs are quite a bargain and will do nothing but go up in value.
  22. oops, sorry attached the wrong one..... here's the '72 I was talking about!
  23. I downloaded this '72 from last year's auction, but I don't remember what it went for.....I think it was around $15,000.00....but I've never heard of one going for $75.000.00! Can someone confirm theianmonster's claim???
  24. Have you heard about this strange but happy story? Here's the link: http://www.comcast.net/news/strange/index.jsp?cat=STRANGE&fn=/2006/01/17/306107.html
  25. All I can say is...what a mutt! You always see 280Z guys removing those ugly US Govt-mandated bumpers and replacing them with the small, albeit ineffective but attractive 240Z bumpers, never the other way around. I think Zthing is right, a long time ago, say the late '70s, some guy wanted to make his 240 look like the newer (and perhaps more desireable at the time) 280Z.
