GC111 won't start
Excuse prease I seem to have dropped bowl of red noodle into engine bay forgiveness prease. Get rid of all the ridiculous braided fuel hoses and earth straps and it might be a decent looking engine bay.

Operation 240k
I take my hat off to you, Kid K. You've salvaged something that most people here would have scrapped because it was too much work. Good to see someone willing to put in some effort:beer: I notice a continuous weld along the flares - did you have any issues with distortion, or did you stitch it stage by stage to control distortion? Do you plan to fill the front arches with big dish wheels, or use longer LCA's / different X member to bring the whole hub assembly out (plus giving you camber adjustment as well)

rear guards for a coupe wanted
Really? Are the MCA bits salvageable? Yes, one and the same. In a former life I owned a 240k "project car". It had a P76 4.4 V8 in it, and sat in my shed for about 2 years before I saw the light and sold it. Last I heard the new owner was fitting an LS1 and going drag racing

Needing 240mm clutch
When we did the conversion on Lachlan's car, he bought a new clutch and IIRC, he ended up with a Silvia clutch. I can't remember exactly, but there were a few that matched, Silvia being one of them. Another alternative is to talk to Jim Berry at Stones Corner in Brisbane. he builds a lot of hi-po stuff sold by the big name boys, and tends to be a lot cheaper. You will have to call him, as he isn't a interweb sort of guy (at least wasn't when I last dealt with him a few years ago - might have caught up to the 21st century by now)

My new 240k Hardtop
You mean like these Sigma Turbo rims? The ones with Nissan cast into them?

FS - 240K coupe
Cool!!! Give me a buzz when you get it. Very keen to come and check it out!! (I haven't forgotten that carton I still owe you, either)

FS - 240K coupe
http://www.bmsc.com.au/forums/buy-sell-rally-cars/19345-datsun-240k-coupe.html There ya go. Who said there were no reasonably priced 240K coupes anymore Even has triple Webers, cam and roll cage (bolt in - so removable if wanting to street it)

my 240K convertible
No, they were advertised as 240K, but I recall one chap saying it also fit certain chryslers. This is the one that sold for $150, so perhaps he was tapping into some of that vintage Mopar fortune being spent each year

my 240K convertible
Yeh, I sold the remnants of LAchlan's parts car for $80, including the wheel. When I saw someone sell a 240K wheel for $150 I hearly fell off my chair. I know that similar vintage Mazda wheels (RX2, 3) are selling for $400 or more, and they look almost the same.

my 240K convertible
Why?? You do realise that all it takes is a letter from Nissan and you can get new plates issued. A dude did that with an RX7 shell I was selling. If Mazda can do it, surely Nissan can do it too. There was no inspection required for the issue of the compliance letter. They just need to know that it was originally sold here in Australia. I had believed it to be more difficult than that, but found out how simple it really can be. Also, I've seen people sell the steering wheels for up to $150 on ebay.

240k corner weights?
Compared to most modern cars, yes a stock 240K handles like a pig. Yopu can improve with bushes, shocks, springs, geometry and tyres. Looking at what's winning IPRA races should show you the overall potential of a 240K. The suspension in a 240K was a compromise in 1970, and is even more of a compromise today. As I said, it can be improved on, but will never match a dedicated race car suspension (well, DUH!!) There are far more advanced IRS setups out there too, don't fall into the old "IRS must be the best" trap. A well sorted live rear will outhandle a mediocre 240K every day. Remember, camber changes are your enemy and the 240K has that in spades, unless you limit the suspension travel to such a degree that suspension becomes pointless. Don't get me wrong - you can have serious fun in a 240K, and end up with a competitive car, but for outright circuit honours (or class honours for that matter) there are better choices out there. Also, you can extract obscene amounts of reliable power from an L28. Why go to the expense and weight of an RB25?

MR30 Skyline on ebay
Hahaha I love the dude trying to haggle on delivery costs because he has a shopper docket Man, if you're that skint, you probably shouldn't be looking at buying a car in the first place. The MR30 may be ugly, but there's nothing wrong with them mechanically.

Tail Lights Wanted...
Hey, nothing wrong with the MX5's. They may look like a hairdressers car to some, but they certainly have the goods to put a smile on your dial. That's what it's all about afterall. Welcome to the Mazda drivers club - or should I say Mazda owners club. Mine has only been driven a handful of times since that day at Willowbank. Hoping to get it ready for an event in about a month :dead:

Tail Lights Wanted...
That's right, although in hindsight, we should have used one of those 1mm cutting discs - man, they're like using a scalpel :classic: LAchlan - I gather the pic in your sig represents your latest ride? Very metro :cheeky:

"Tell him, he's dreaming"
Nice? That's pure horn!! That's Dave Gaines doing what he does so well. He's knocked off many big names in AWD rally cars in that 240K. Our own Alfadog has been lucky(!?) enough to do some hot laps around the Willowbank autocross track with Gainsey in the K. Nigel, when Dave first built the car, 240K's could be found at just about every street corner. They were the equivalent of a VN Commodore.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2008 Press Day
Dam Strait!! The fleet of porsches comment was referring to the dude who got offered 4 brand new Porsches in exchange for his mint GTHO. Totally agree. I don't completely dismiss anything based on nationality. I said that British cars don't do it for me. From my experience with old British cars (admittedly limited to MG's, old Jags, Minis and various Triumphs) I just don't get as excited about them. Not to say there aren't any desirable British classics out there - just that what I've experienced hasn't really excited me.That's not to say I dismiss them completely, or would never own one. Probably a bad choice of words on my behalf. Apologies if this offended - that was not my intention. Hehe I can be a little on the obtuse side at times. Not while I'm on this continent. Perhaps if I were in the neighbourhood, I'd make more effort to come for a bo peep.By the way - I love your C10

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2008 Press Day
Shyeah right. No I6, therefore not a real GTR. If it bothers you that much, then drop in an L28 and go nutz :stupid: I'd gladly have one sitting in my driveway over any other $120k (ish) car, thank you very much. Just like I'd rather drop a million bucks on a fleet of Porsches over a GTHO anyday. Disclaimer - I love classic cars - be they Japanese, Australian or American (sorry, the british stuff doesn't do it for me). Just can't fathom people's biased views towards these antiques when modern cars are so much better in every way.

registering a car with missing plates
I asked this question when I bought my Datto 1600 rally car in 1996. At that time, as long as the rego hadn't expired for longer than 6 months, there was not going to be a problem. If the rego had expired for longer than 6 months, then you needed to get a letter from Nissan stating that the car is in exactly the same configuration as it left the factory when new (or something to that effect). the car also had to be shown to comply with all relevant ADR's at the time of manufacture. Basically - possible but a major PITA. This was 12 years ago in NSW - don't know whether they've changed their tune though. You could always turn it into a track toy :bandit:

Rear axle nut(s) for a '75 240K
I think Datsport sells them fort he 1600. Are the 240K ones different?

GT Tail Light Uses
Much as it saddens me to say this - those lights actually don't look too far out of place on that thing. Is this the dude Lachlan sold a set of his tail lights to?

Comments on colour choice please
That looks Schweet. It's not like your K was ever going to blend into the crowd anyway. May as well go the whole hog!! You painting that yourself? Looks good. Don't like the colour of your front guard tho. I reckon you should paint it the same as the rest of the car:stupid:

Injection and Supercharge 240K GL coupe.
You should sack your reliable source To convert your L24 to EFI you will need to source an EFI manifold (or make one), as well as acquire the following parts: EFI pump AFM or MAP sensor ECU (to suit sensor) Some form of CAS Correct wiring harness Ambient and coolant temp sensors O2 sensor if you want any kind of closed loop control Install it all and tune it There are factory L6 EFI manifolds about, but not sure whether they accept the Commodore injectors. (you will need the hose tail style infector - made by Bosch and Lucas as well, I believe) The supercharger can be made to fit, just need to gear it correctly. If it worked on a 3.8L Buick boat anchor, it should work on an L24 ok (probably a bit on the big side, but depends on what you want to achieve really) That's a very brief overview, and I'm sure I've forgotten something. It's all doable, but all cost money. If you want to make your car go faster, you can get close to 300hp from an L28, more if you want to play with turbos. Just remember the old adage: Cheap Fast Reliable. Pick 2.

Nearly ready to terrorise the local neighbourhood
You sick puppy :lick: That's some hardcore engineering you've done there. Apparently my old v8 project has been onsold to a drag racer who is going to shoehorn an LS1 into it. You might have the most modified one out there, but will probably have some serious competition for most powerful. not that it matters - at those power levels it becomes an exercise in how much smoke you can create :stupid:

15x10 GTR wheels now available in Oz
Picking through the Performance Wheels catalogue the other day, I noticed they are now making the Superlite (minilite style, which the Watanabe brigade have so embraced) and Challenger (like the Bathurst Globes) both in a 15x10, with -26 offset. Yes, folks, mega deep dish wheels off the shelf to fit your GTR replica. When I still had my 240K I struggled to find anything that would come close to filling out the flares. Even the 15x8 +4 was going to be way short of filling the guard. These should retail for under $300 per wheel. Not bad comapred to what some people pay for unknown condition second hand stuff from Japan (not to mention potential quarantine issues with importing second hand goods) Makes me wish I'd kept the project.
