  1. Well, the rubber is pretty firm, around where the spring mounts it looks like its in good shape, but as you go out to the lip and where it makes contact with the metal its a bit dried and crumbling a little bit. I'd say just on my own opinion that they are getting to the point where they should be replaced, but may not be to the point where they HAVE to be replaced. Replacing them is going to be on my 'todo' list, but for now I think the new suspension will keep these for a while ... at 62 bucks a piece I'd rather not replace them just yet I guess. Thanks for your input guys.
  2. 1. I searched. Here, zcar.com, and Hybridz. 2. How do I know if these need replacing? mine are here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/631840/2 second set of pics down.... I'm debating just repainting them with some good paint on the metal and leaving them. The rubber has a few cracks in it though, so I'm not sure how to tell if they are shot or not... Any thoughts?
  3. I just got had a couple cool things happen today 1. Last week I got an order from Victoria British, and it happened that one of the more expensive bolts had the right part number from them on it, but was apparently the wrong part. ( Bought two of the parts, one was right, one was wrong. ) So I called them, and they mailed me a new part at no charge, and I didn't have to return the old part. Got the correct part today in the mail. 2. I also placed another large order with them last weekend after this incident. They actually took the time to mail me a thank you note for being a repeat customer and choosing to order from them... I don'tthink I've ever gotten this from a company I've orderred from. Just made my day a little bit. Just thought this was all really nice and professional and thought a few others might want to know since I know a lot of forum questions start out with "where should I go to buy...."

somewhere around a 1000lbs or so. Light enough to move around on a rotisserie fairly easily, heavy enough to crush you if you aren't careful.

talk about some surface rust... damn
  9. Lets leave the issues and the bashing over on zcar.com... seriously. Half that site is used solely for that purpose it seems, lets keep it there and keep classiczcars and hybridz clean and useful.

The problem with IRC is that while some of us would use it to ask questions and get info on the cars, the conversations would no longer be recorded in the way that this forum records information/asked questions/answers, etc. Also, when you ask a question, the answer you get will entirely depend on whose logged on at that time, and you may miss an answer by asking at the wrong time. It may be good for some things though, general chit chat when ppl want to shoot the breeze with other fellow z'ers etc. could help to reduce the number of pointless posts ...

Por has a new primer for use under there rust preventative paint... is this what your referring to?
  13. I know people have bought sunbelt heads for 1500, and I've seen Rebello engines (used, low miles ) go for 5500. Was just pointing out that 3-5k was more into radical territory than he may have thought. 2k for a stock rebuild seems high ( they may charge that much, it seems high to me is all. ) Can't you get the whole engine from victoria british for 1700? or 1800? I'd think that to pay more for a rebuild than a new engine seems kinda nuts... anyway, it really just depends on what you want to do, what your goals are etc. Make sure they are set before you start rebuilding.
  14. 3-5k on an engine rebuild? Thats pretty radical.. larger pistons, port and polish and a better cam would be a good start for the engine. you need to decide which way you want to go, what you are aiming for. i.e. turbo, stroker, high torque or high hp, or just a stock engine rebuild. a stock engine rebuild can be done for under a grand, 3-5k on an engine gets you into rebello racing and sunbelt engine territory.... good luck, also look at zcar.com and hybridz.org Most important, decide what you want before you start, you'll save $$ that way.

all heel toe shifting is is working the brake and gas with your right foot while slowing down. You pretty much got it... your braking, you push the clutch in shift, and then roll your foot onto the gas to rev match to where the engine would normally be running at when the clutch is let out. You then let out the clutch. Makes for a smoother transition. and yes you can use this without the brake..... I believe it wears out your clutch more though... so might want to keep that in mind Double clutching... not needed normally. Its only needed really for cars without syncros in the tranny. Push clutch in, shift to neutral, release clutch and press clutch in again, shift to desired gear.

Kitty litter works great at absorbing oil off of concrete floors, keep a couple bags around in yoru shop for those spills. much easier to sweep up than those messy rags too....
  17. which is a federal offense, I bet the majority of drivers wouldn't take the time to risk it, let alone have the know how to do it anyway. Sure someone would circumvent it, I bet someone would figure out how to rig the GPS's they are talking about too...
  18. It would be so much simpler if they wanted to tax miles driven to simply read your odometer every year when you got your car inspected and charge you on the difference from last year. One sum charged once a year. And it wouldn't cost anything either. No need to install GPS's in your car or anything.... Government amazes me sometimes. Dumb, expensive solutions for easily solved issues, and half the time the solutions don't fix the problem.

  21. Yeah its a neat body kit, seems pretty original, and doesn't try too hard to look like a real cobra. If they still made them I'd definitely consider it. I was wonderring if the caps on the wheels were just throwing me off, They are the part I really like, I think they look good with the 'mesh' or 'snowflake' background.
  22. Anybody seen these wheels before or know what kind they are? http://www.zparts.com/showcase/bodykits/nalle_gt/nalle_gt_001.html
  23. rice is a term used for modifications done to a car to make it look like its fast without doing anything to improve performance. False styrofoam intercoolers, oversized wings and excessive Type-R badges. etc, etc, etc. A dvd player at least serves some functional purpose. Its great for long trips etc. and he did a good install on it. Its no more rice than taking the time to install a nice stereo.

I'm looking through victoria british's catalog at the moment, and it seems as they sell almost any body panel you need except the rear hatch. Motorsports seems to be the same way.... Anyone know of a company that sells the rear hatch to our cars??
