Did you expect a lesser response? I knew that was coming sooner or later. If you present your opinion with comments like "welcome to the real world" your gonna wizz people off. People will call you an asshole b/c you come across as one. There were much nicer ways to have stated your opinion rather than attacking another persons opinion. Its not what you said... its the way you said it.

Fm modulators... ever had one that worked well? I haven't ..... Some may be better than others, but most I've tried really haven't worked well at all, not enough juice to get the signal out or something. DVD player in the front seat? Why does this seem like a worse idea to me than driving and talking with a cell phone, just be careful. My only other comment is with the TV tuner... you'll either need a nice big antenna to get the local TV stations ( BIG Antenna ) or you'll need a hell of a long cable to plug into the cable TV in your house... Your whole setup is very do-able though, I'd find a way around the FM Modulator. Does the mini DVD player have a car adapter?

I agree. Go for it, it will be a great way to learn. If you find that you are replacing significant portions of the unibody due to rust... consider finding a "more solid" donor chassis to do the restoration on. You have a good engine and tranny you stated.... so gauge it as it goes along...

How much rust is Too Much
1st question: Is it rusted through... or is it surface rust? Rusted through is bad, surface rust can be taken care of and treated so that no further damage occurs. 2nd: where else do you see rust? There are a couple good places on the z body that rust through, check these Below the battery, along the frame rail At the bottom of the rear hatch Floorboards If these are in bad shape, chances are that there is a lot of unseen rust hidden on the car. Use those spots as a guide. The worse they are, the worse stuff you'll find as you go through the car.

I doubt the hood can be repaired...usually dents in the hood are tough to hammer out perfectly so that they aren't noticeable. It really depends on the level of damage done.... Good news is I'm sure you could find a hood off a parts car somewhere near you for cheapo $$, probably less than fixing the dents.... Getting someone to match the paint would cost a little more for a good job though. Do you know if you had any frame damage done in the accident?

No issues.. the accident itself should teach you something is what I'm saying, you shouldn't need the ticket. Been taught the whole 'obey or pay' long ago Its still wrong. EDIT: .....this whole thread got sidetracked.... my apologies

I can understand that it makes it easier for the polive if you have it on you. But everyone every so often forgets there wallet when they run out of there house. It happens. Do you deserve a ticket for it? When the polica can take 5 seconds, look you up and get all that information anyway? I don't think so. Your right, it is only my opinion, and I'm sure other peoples differ. Thats fine. But I think the important point is that you DO have the license and you DO have the insurance to cover you, not whether you have physical proof at that specific moment in time. I just feel that the point of a ticket is that its supposed to teach you a lesson, "Don't do that again" ....etc. When its as minor an accident as a 5-10mph bump ... you already know what you did wrong.... you got distracted, it happens, in this case, what does the ticket teach you? Nothing that paying for the damages wouldn't do... just lets them make $$ off your mistake, which I don't think is right. Good luck fixing your car... I hope the tickets get dropped. I got one once for "deliberately failing to stop so as to collide with another car". Why would anyone deliberately rear end someone? I had to prove that I paid for all damages and they dropped it... hopefully they'll do the same for you.

Thats b.s. ... sorry for the language. But just b/c you happenned to leave your license at home and your insurance card with it doesn't mean you are driving without a license and driving without insurance. It means you left it at home. I've been in accidents before ( funny thing is... I rear ended someone too )where I've forgotten this and the cop said "Thats fine as long as you have them" The cop can look up your license on their nifty little laptop or call it in for that matter. As for following to closely.... well, thats kinda where traffic police wizz me off. Obviously you were to close... you hit the car.. contact is too close right? Its already costing you $$ to fix your car, $$ to fix the other persons car should a mechanic find something wrong with it, and if you need to report it to insurance... your insurance goes up... I will never understand the reason why the state feels the need to make $$ off your mistake as well. Its not like you did it on purpose and deserve to penalized for it. I feel your pain man.. good luck and hopefully the court will drop a few of those tickets....

1973 240z $$ question
I'm looking into restoration. Not back to show quality, but into a nice enough quality that could be driven when I wanted, and brought to meets or other social Z gatherings without being too embarassed *grin*. You can translate that to read, I'd love to restore it back to show quality... but I'm going to make a few mistakes along the way. This is a first time learning as I go project. My main goal is to start with a solid carbody , preferably stock, that does need a lot of work, and see where I can go with getting it back into respectable shape. I've evaluated my situation pretty well, and I know that I can handle engine/drivetrain/suspension work. Interior work is no problem, but frame and rust work really require the availability of a body shop and someone qualified to handle that type of work. I have an engineering degree, but I think I'm going to pass on trying to fix a rusted out frame ( especially since I'm the one driving it later )

1973 240z $$ question
Thats what I'm thinking. I really just am looking for a solid frame and go from there, but I think this may be the closest i get. Most around this price range are hurting in terms of rust.... Thanks

1973 240z $$ question
$1300 for a 1973 240z? Whats good on it: no rust, straight frame, solid frame rails Engine runs well suspension is solid complete, unmolested not so good: auto tranny ( would swap anyway ) horrible paint... cracked scratched etc.... interrior is mostly destroyed.... would have to be replaced. 240z's are all over the map in cost. And I know this may be a hard question to answer without pics ( don't have any sorry ) but does 1300 seem like a reasonable number in this case? Thanks

1971-1973 240Z East Coast Pref.
Looking for a complete to semi complete 240z requirements: Solid straight body and frame, with minimal rust. Surface rust ok, just no rust through/major damage. Needs to have a title. Looking for restoration project BTW: First post here. Hello all. Have been looking for a 240z for sometime so I can join you all. Still trying to get the ball rolling.
