  1. Thanks All! Yea, I am actually going to take that entire dash console out and save it. I just can't bring myself to cut it up to take a CD player. Heck, who needs music when you can listen to a Z? Thanks again for the feedback!
  2. and so much for spelling finally right. :stupid:
  3. Here are the most recent pics of the newest (and only) 240 to the family... And yes, I finally updated the Avatar. Thanks for checking them out.
  4. That looks AWESOME!!!! Congrats, I bet you are happy to have it home! Enjoy... ~Brian
  5. Anyone have an R180 that they are getting rid of? I am looking for one to replace the noisy one in my 240 before I loose my mind. Any more that is... Thanks for replies, this thing is about to drive me nuts and I don't need it failing on the road.
  6. Wow. I was seriously hooked on this thread and I don't even have an 810. Bill, I have to say that I have stumbled across many people on this site in the last 6 years and I have to commend you on your appreciation and "humbleness" to the people that helped you in your quest... I am convinced by this post that you are not alone wondering what the issue was. And to add to Sideshow, hats off to you for continuing the battle, most would have not stuck it out as long, I personally would have had a rough time with that . I wish you luck and I hope that you continue to check in, even to say hello. I hope to have the dedication that you have. Cheers, ~Brian
  7. I really have to update that avatar.
  8. I plan on showing up Saturday Eve, are people still meeting at the Datsun arena around 5?

  10. John, That is a great idea, I will check into that. It will give a good reference, but I am almost positive that it's the bushings. BuDavid, Thanks for the link, too bad that guy let the shop destroy the pins, with the puller it is a MUCH easier job that is for sure. However, still a PIA. I am still looking forward to the adventure for some sicka nd unknown reason. 240Z-Fan, I am not sure that Gary has a dig. camera, if he does not, I will take some shots of the puller and post them for you, could be this weekend. The struts can be changed without pulling the pins, there is clearance to tilt the towers as I have done this in the past. It is common place in the shops to avoid pulling the pins and save time. Chat soon... ~Brian And thanks again for all the feedback!

And as a side note, I would like to dedicate the above post to my buddy Chuck. "What? the tranny grinds? Have you checked the battery cables???"

I actually made sure that things were clean when I stuffed the new battery in there... But I will say that is one of the most overlooked things. It's bit me a few times ~Brian
  13. Hello Again. Seems as I am making up for lost time here.... Ok, the R180 I am sure has ring / pinion issues. A friend of mine and I were throwing around the posibility of attempting to rebuild one, but he has tried in the past to find new ring and pinion sets and to no avail. Anyone know of a place to purchase a new ring / pinion? Additionally, anyone here in the NW looking to sell an R180? Let me know if you are and what the ratio is if known. Thanks!
  14. On my suspension I have red springs in the front, and I believe blue in the rear. Or is it the other way around... Anyway, also with the car new in the plastic are another set of Blue springs marked "rear 240z" and some Orange that appear to be front from the size. Does anyone have a color guide to these springs and weather they are progressive or not? Thanks...
  15. I've been meaning to bring the car by but parked it due to this issue, i don't think it would fail but I know I want to address the d-line this weekend. Thanks Gary!

The '72 that I just acquired still has the stock Hitachi AM/FM. First one that I have seen... Nice having a console that is not all molested to fit a cd player into it.
  17. I appreciate that 240znz... I will call a shop and check into that, I know that a friend of mine has a pin puller, but from past experience, I really have NO desire to try that again. Thanks again for the help. ~Brian

As stupid as this question may be, is there a name for the relay. Let me guess, starter relay. Just wondering if I can find one at NAPA.

That is a WAY COOL site. I still DL'd the 76 Manual, still a good reference. Thanks for that! ~Brian

Hey all... When I turn the key in the 240, I just get a click and a draw on the AMP guage. Funny thing is, when I grab a screwdriver and jump the battery lead (on the starter) to the solinoid, it turns over with out any issues... I have not checked to see if I have 12 volts going to the starter, is there a relay near the kick panel on the passenger side? It seems that I hear a click from a relay near there. It just seems like in there was a solinoid issue, the screwdriver trick would not make a difference either. Thanks for the advice...

Have fun with it! That was the year that I started with, beware, this is an addicting thing! Sblake, Do you ever see earlier manuals on there? And what does TnA mean under the Download Column?
  22. You know, I did that last night. I tried to get play back and forth and up and down and the play that you get when bearings are going out of a wheel. I really found nothing that was obvious. That tells me that it's torque related and needs more "force" than I can provide, and that points a finger to bushings in my opinion. Now, just to find them. Are there bushings located on that dreaded pin that is at the end of the control arm? thanks again all...
  23. Thanks BuDavid, I glanced under there yesterday, Other than a loose half-shaft and u-joints that were needing to be replaced on the d-line, that is all I could spot. I could see that dreaded pin that is on the control arm that I know can be a bitch to remove, but I am not sure that is where you are referring to, I think that where you are talking about is closer to the point where the control arm connects to the middle of the suspension. Anyone here want to give some advice as to how to go about it? Thanks!
  24. And first of all, let me apologize for a sorta repost here.... Been travelling around in the Z, it seems that when I accelerate I can feel the rear of the car want to move over to the right and upon deceleration, it seems to go to the left, almost as if it has a degree of rear-wheel steering... I swear that when it's tracking down the road I can feel the rearend following the road grooves a bit. Has anyone else experienced this? My initial guess is that the control arms are possibly moving to and fro on worn bushings? Or possibly the Moustache bar bushings? It seems that my experience with moustace bar bushings has been more of a upward downward movement issue. Anyone wanna chime in here? And yes, I plan on parking it until I can determine what the heck it going on, as this cannot be safe. This is a first for me which is weird for all the Zed's Iv'e had... Not that I claim to know it all, heck I barely know my first name on most days.:stupid: Thanks for any and all input. ~Brian
  25. Well, in my car, I am sure there is a loose nut attached to the steering wheel! I just torked them, but I'll check. Thanks! By the way, it was almost a quart low in gear oil... That helped a bit in the noise, i am suspect of the Pinion nut, there seems to be a bit of play there. After 6 years of sitting I am going to be lucky if this is all. No bitching here. Yet. The bummer is, it's a 3:90 diffy dammit. ~Bri
