if you was thinking of doing a rhd conversion with the car that is on ebay then you might find some of the parts will not fit in a 72 .you would have to use a later car either a 260z or an early 280z because that is basicly what the fairlady is so the parts would be more likely the same.

try Nissan 007 blue it looks like a good match and it is a 1977 colour so it is right for that age of car and 510 is sky blue metalic 1977-1988

I Have Just Finished Restoring My 1971 240z To A High Standard And To Date It Has Cost About £14,000($25,000) In Parts,including The Price Of The Car Which Cost £3,500 For LHD USA Nearly Rust Free Car.all Nuts And Bolts Were Re-plated In Zinc And The Runing Gear Was Powder Coated In Blue.all The Body Work And Paint Was Done By Myself Including The Strip Down And Rebuild,the Welding Was Done By A Friend Who Worked For A Mercedes Garage.many Parts Were Replaced With New Or Reconditioned To Give It That Brand New Look.no Work Has Been Done On The Engine Apart From A Good Clean And New Paint Because I Am Not Mechanic.one Thing I Have Learned Is That You Have To Be Careful Who Does The Work, If You Are Not Doing It Yourself,because Of This I Had To Replace The Bonnet (hood) With New After A Company Said They Could Blast It For Me But It Ended Up Damaged Beyond Repair, All It Was Some Very Light Surface Rust On Underside Where The Heat From The Engine Over The Years Had Made The Paint Fall Off,i Had It Done After They Showed Me A Film Of A Empty Coke Can Being Blasted To Remove The Lettering Off It Without Any Distortion On The Side Of The Can.so After That Cost Me £300 To Replace I Decided To Do All The Work Myself And Only Let Very Trusted People Do Anything I Could Not.being A Car Painter By Occupation I Have Had An Advantage Over Other People So Proberly Saved About £5000($9000) In That Area And Did It At My Leisure,it Was At My Place Work For About 3 Years As I Completed A Bare Metal Respray,inside ,underneath And Outside Of The Vehicle And Still Using All The Original Panels Apart From The Bonnet.

what you need is the proper tool for the job.it basicly looks like a flat screw driver (sometimes called a panel pin remover)with a large head with a v cut into it and bent up at the end for leverage so that when you slide it in behind the badge the v goes where the pin is and supports the badge either side of the pin holding it in place and then you lever it back and hopefully the badge wil come away in one piece.you might be able to slide a piece of paper behind the badge first to try and work out where the pins are.

i would let a professional paint your car because 2 pack iso paints are poisonous and can damage your lungs after prolonged use unless using air fed equipment when painting as for which paint, cheaper paints can be alright but they do not look as good or last as long as more expensive paint.i used PPG on my 240Z

the thing with HVLP that i dont like is the paint finish ,i can get better paint finish with a standard gun that does not need as much buffing afterwards to get a nice shine and we are now using LVLP guns because theyuse less paint paint and have a better transfer rate, and the HVLP gun needs a bigger compessor to keep up with it. HVLP =high volume low pressure LVLP = low volume low pressure

when painting a car the main thing with primers and poor coverage paints is that the car is all one colour before top coating because if the topcoat paint does not cover very well it will not matter because if it is white ,beige or grey primer all over there will be no variation in colour coverage unless you paint panels that are in different colour primers, but this a general rule because red is better on white or beige and not grey(can go dark depending on the colour of the red) and yellow is best on white because grey and beige can make it go more green than yellow .

i did a full repaint on a TVR (about the same size as a datsun) today but did not do in the door jambs,just the outside and i used about a gallon of activated PPG MS clear coat over the base coat and put three coats of clear coat on but it is down to the painter because no two painters are the same and i like to put plenty on the car but i did not use a HVLP gun as they are better to use with HS paint. MS is meduim solids and HS is high solids or to put it this way if you have a gallon of MS then half a gallon of HS, they will can depending on what colour weigh about the same and the HS can be used as 1 to 2 coat paint system depending on conditions rather than the MS which is 2 to 3 coat system
