Suspension noise
Where did you read that? The information that I posted came directly from the original, Nissan supplied, OEM Paint Code label on my 1972 240Z (115 Blue Metallic) car. "Acryl Enamel" (exact wording).

Calling mdbrandy and others :)
You can get the ball joint / tie-rod end separators from Harbor Freight cheaply. Other Parts stores like Checker/Shucks/Kragen should also have them (though not as cheap). Yes, your car will need an alignment after replacing the tie-rod ends (in particular) and balljoints. Pointers? Service/Replace the wheel bearings, brakes, brake lines, struts, and lower control arm and T/C bushings at the same time unless you are 100% sure they are in absolutely great condition. Have a Haynes manual and/or Factory Service Manual to aid you in doing this work. Take your time & do it right, once. Enjoy the experience.

Need help with t/o bearing collar!!??
As I told you before, the 280Z collar is what is specified in the Motorsport Auto catalog for use with the Centerforce II and for the Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch kits installed in 1970-74 240/260Z. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PCC02

Suspension noise
If the car has original OEM Factory paint, it is NOT lacquer. According to the OEM Paint Code sticker on my car, it was an Acryl Enamel type of paint that I believe is no longer used. The color (whatever color car you have) can be had using most any currently availabe paint system in the USA. Quality paint shops can mix the appropriate color and can computer match almost anything out there. I agree with zguitar71, the offset of your wheels must be quite negitive if 185/whatever X 14's rub. I've run 195/70 X14's, and 205/60 X 14's on dealer added aluminum wheels without problem. I currently have 205/70 x 14's and they rub only slightly at full compression and only do that at the rear. As for suspension noises, there are many possible causes, first thing is to narrow down the location the noises are coming from, and the circumstances when the noises occur. A clunk when shifting/downshifting is often caused by a damaged front differential mount, noises as the suspension struts compress (going over significant bumps) could be bad struts, inner and/or outer control arm bushings to name just two possiblities.

wheel bearing install
Regarding the front bearings, after you wash the old grease out of the hubs you'll see two places ground out of the internal edges of the hub and you'll see the bearing races in those openings. Use a (BRASS) drift punch and hammer to pound out the reaces. Whack one side, then the other, then back to the first side. When installing new races, be sure you drive them in fully (using a BRASS drift) **DO NOT use a steel punch, use only BRASS, it is softer than the hardened steel races and won't damage the bearing/race parts. Fix for Slow Wipers
I ordered the short little Motor Connection Arm (the one that connects to the motor output shaft, and which connects to the Master Operating Rod from Chloe (MidwestZ) last year just before she disappeared. It arrived in a Nissan bag all by itself. Let us know if the spring arrives with any of the parts you ordered.

Fix for Slow Wipers
I tried to order the spring from my local Nissan dealer, they said it was NLA. I didnt try ordering the shield. I lucked out and found a replacement spring in a Pick 'N Pull JY. Let us know if you find a source

What kills/deters spiders? (in the garage)
If I had an Elephant, any Mice would be the least of my worries..............

What kills/deters spiders? (in the garage)
can you imagine the mess a mongoose will leave? The only logical solution to the spiders is an AK47 (it's easy to sweep up the brass)

MR2 or 240z-I have to choose :(
I can think of 2 winning points, 1. It isn't a ZX 2. It isn't a TOAD (Z33).

What kills/deters spiders? (in the garage)
It wouldn't be complete until you teach the Gecko to do the "robot".

What kills/deters spiders? (in the garage)
Use one of the containers that connects to your garden hose and spray the outside & perimeter of your garage liberally with bug killer.(this will keep more bugs from entering th garage and if you extend the spraying to the entire perimeter of your house, you'll keep bugs out of there too) Next, get a trigger spray bottle of bug killer and zap the areas where you see spiders (avoiding spraying your parts and tools of course). In a few days you'll have 90%+ less spiders to worry about. Gecko's are a tropical species, if it gets too cold at night, they'll croak before they get bellys full of spiders.

Z Car Airplane Hangar Tech Day
Not sure I understand. You want "as close to 100% original as possible on a series 1", yet you add a shroud that was never, ever available on a Series 1. PS, Also, This subject would be better suited to a different forum than REGIONAL FORUMS > USA: Eastern in a thread about a completely different subject. Perhaps HELP ME!, or Open Discussion, or one in the 240z, 260z, 280z sections would be more suitable?

Ignition coil Oil leakage
I'm not sure if it will cause a rough idle, but it definitely shouldn't be leaking. Replace it.

has anyone restored their license plate?
How typical. The people who establish the rules don't know the answer so they refer you to the people who enforce the rules. :stupid:

Bad starter solenoid only half the problem?
Fusible link. If you have a 240Z, there is only one. One end has an eyelet & connects to the starter/solenoid and the other end has a plastic conector that plugs into the wiring harness near the passenger-side frame-rail.

DATSUN 240Z Euro Spec. Springs???
No criticism of either respondant was meant, my intention was to point out that more information is needed to fully answer the question as posed.

Indy 500 Not Won By Danica Patrick!
Society deems hiring a hooker to be illegal, dressing like one for a photograph is legal. Endevour to change the laws if you have a problem with any of that. I wonder which of Tomas' "records" were referred to by Panchovisa.

DATSUN 240Z Euro Spec. Springs???
Wasn't Mr. Beck looking for the "specifications" for the items, & not necessarily the part numbers? At least that is the way I understood his post.

Indy 500 Not Won By Danica Patrick!
, maybe Little Tommie does. In Sheckter's first visit to Indy, Rahal kept telling him to take it easy (over and over) until Tomas finally smacked the wall, overdriving the car. He had a couple of "bad press" moments in England while testing in F1. The last one (the hooker incident) finally pushed him out of favor with the team principals.

Indy 500 Not Won By Danica Patrick!
Yeah, It's that "it's OK to look, but don't you dare touch" mentality. Hey maybe he could hook up with Danica?

Indy 500 Not Won By Danica Patrick!
The Star's motorsports coverage has been weak at best since they sacked Robin Miller, the only guy with BALLS enough to tell it like he see's it, even when Tony George doesn't like the truth. Wonder if Tomas will try to celebrate the win with a hooker & get busted? (the reason he lost is testing gig in F1 and ended up "crashing 'em" in the IRL)
