best economical swap
You want a 4 cylinder? I don't think you'll find many (any) that have gone that route. Best swap is to sell the 240Z and buy a honda civic..

Look at this E-bay car
Interesting that he says, "Luggage riser trim piece is a bit distorted from all the years in the sun." Yet also says, "....he bought it new in Feb.1970 from Fairbanks Datsun. He lives near me and loved this car. I tried for years to pry the car from him and I finally did several years ago. It had sat in his garage for 30 years. 5 years in the sun (especially the amount of sun that they get in AK) shouldn't have caused this kind of damage. Also stated is, "After taking the car out of storage this month and polishing it for Ebay, I noticed some minor paint bubbling on the right quarter near the fuel filler door. It looks very minor and should be an easy fix. Usually paint bubbling is the "tip of the iceberg", and when located that high up on the car is seldom "an easy fix". Ever try to match 30 yr old paint for a touch-up? One the other side of the coin, for the selling price he says he will ship the car at his expense to Kent, WA. That's cool, but I'd still want to inspect it in AK before I accepted the car. If the buyer inspected it in WA and didn't like what they saw, getting it back to AK would be on buyer's dime, and getting buyer's money back would be hell to accomplish.

March Poll of the Month
You'd be surprised at how many times I have heard this, and I've yet to find a set in about 3 years of searching.

I'll add the following to the statement: But only if someone is willing to put up the money to pursue the issue in a court of law. If there isn't a budget for copyright enforcement, it's just words on a screen.

No bumpers?
Rick is correct. I'd be surprised if that accident was more than a 20 mph impact. BTDT a long time ago, and not ready to repeat it.

Scarab Research
Vicky (Mrs. ZRush) is also highly interested in these cars. Maybe she has some info to share.

At arms distance. (Hey, you're a guy, & I'm a guy) Besides, racegirl might get jealous, and she's probably in a bad mood today anyway, since Bobby Labonte finished 37th in the Atlanta 500.

I still post often, and share the information (on a piecemeal basis) that would have gone into those articles. Thank you. Most of us do what we can to make this place a great resource. I (actually we, I am sure) fully understand and believe this. Again, I understand this. It is my opinion that sometimes people (including you and I) can go a little overboard when we are passionate about something. (No harm meant by the above statement)

And it bothers me, or I wouldn't have brought it to your attention. Perhaps someday the articles will be posted on a website that I control, and if/when that occurs, I will provide links to the information. (sigh) Please don't make out like I'm twisting your arm to to do anything. I fully comprehend that you have a rich and full life to live that extends well beyond the CZCC website. I (and probably others too) have accepted that changes will happen if and when you want them to happen. But, like most people in a free society, I reserve the right to react to circumstances as I encounter them.

L28 rebuild, what to do?
OK, USED engines is something else. I was thinking NEW from Rebello. You are right, $3K-$5K is alot of money. You can do a lot with that budget. I don't know about Vic Brit for engines. I had Rebello do a stock rebuild with new Valves, Guides, Seats, & Lash Pads and complete "optimization" of my High Comp E88 head around 4 years ago. Told them I was in no hurry and could wait for it to be done when they were slow (Like they ever are slow). They charged me $600. I had a short block rebuilt by a friendly local engine builder who happened to have a few sets of pistons and bearings and such still on the shelf from years ago when they rebuilt and stocked reman L24's and you could walk in the door and pick one up. The short block rebuild cost me $1K (@ the "friendly" discount). This was done 2 years ago. Then I still had to put it all together. I had to buy the Upper Gasket set, Oil Pump, Timing Chain/Gears, etc. I had more time than money and wanted the Rebello service bad enough to go that route. I'm happy with it.

Need bracket for factory cruise control in my 71
As long as there have been dual carburetors on the L24, there have been 2 cable ends controlling the chokes (1 for each carb). It's actually one LOOOONG cable with both ends attached to a carb, and the "middle of the cable" loops around the choke lever arm. It was done that way 70-73 at least.

Basic 240z education needed
"Fairlady Z's" were not officially imported to the US by Nssan/Datsun. Some of the models that you mentioned were available in other markets around the world. Certain head castings were used in certain years. A Buyer could not specifiy which head he wanted his 240Z to have (unless the dealer just happened to have a car with that head in stock).

L28 rebuild, what to do?
I haven't shopped Sunbelt for prices, but $3K-$5K will not get you very far into "Rebello Racing territory". Jasper Engines will chage close to $2K for a stock rebuild, plus shipping. ATK will charge around $2K+ for a rebuilt exchange engine as well.

What is my next step???
Yeah, Lot's of guys don't replace the head bolts, but I would strongly recommend that you do so, whenever you decide to pull the head next.

This is the first time you've voiced this explanation. Every time we have discussed it in the past you have used the explanation below (including earlier to day) which makes it sound VERY MUCH like images are be guarded by the "Keeper of the Gates". No mention of bugs there I said it doesn't matter if one or many people deleted images in response to your assertion that many people HAD deleted images. I stated that IMO they have a right to do so, where you were complaining that they had done so. The issue (ability to manage our own images) matters to me, but it doesn't matter to me if 1 or 1000 people delete their images. Sorry. But it seems fishy. At a time when the "delete" function had already been disabled, he was able to delete images. I'm not pointing a finger directly at you. There have been other "Super Moderators" who may/could/ possibly have been involved. As for why he did it (after he was dead!), I think that we can surmise that it was either part of his disappearing act, or done in retaliation for the club publicly discussing his dishonesty and faked death. It sure wasn't done because he liked the club. No one is "at fault", but YES I am right. You gave your explanation (since changed) and then I gave mine in response to the questions that you asked. Your implication that I spoke my mind and you hadn't done so, was completely false. (If that wasn't your implication, what were you saying?)

What is my next step???
Well, how bad is the oil leak down the side of the block? I drove a 240Z with what I call a minor seep at that area for 2 or 3 years without any problems. (I just wiped the area clean periodically and kept an eye on it) I could have driven it further, but due to an accident and the need to switch all my "goodies" to another chassis, I had the time to rebuild the head and replace the head gasket. How hard did you try to loosen the head bolts? They are torqued to 60 lbs/ft and have been subjected to countless heat/cooling cycles. Sometimes it takes some strong effort to start them to loosening. PS, That area is where an oil passage goes up into the cylinder head to supply oil to the top-end of the engine.
-
What is my next step???
Not sure what you mean when you say " I warmed it up pop the valve cover to re torque the head and it is maxed out". "What" is maxed out? What, Where, and How is the head gasket leaking? (What fluid? Leaking Where? How bad?)

Read my post. I said IIRC (If I Recall Correctly) Frankly it doesn't matter anyway. If even one person wants to delete their content they should be able to do so. Who the hell are you to hold thier property hostage? Frankly it doesn't matter anyway. If even one person wants to delete their content they should be able to do so. Who the hell are you to hold thier property hostage? How good are the logs? Do they tell you how ZmeFly was able to delete his gallery when no one else could do so?? That's the individual's choice, not your's or mine. "We" lost NOTHING. It was never "ours" in the first place!!!! I don't have the logs. I have less info than you, but I find in quite odd that at a time when NO ONE else could delete images he was able to do so and management doesn't know how it happened. Please read the thread again. YOU got your point across prior to me doing so. I responded to your post and inquiry, remember? Had you left it at that, I wouldn't be posting now but I won't let these statements stand without response. :tapemouth Even when some of that content is being held hostage and the owner of it doesn't want it on the site any longer? Very Odd Indeed. Seems, IMO to indicate an attitude of ownership that doesn't really exist.

Under the battery tray
Are you sure that's not battery acid eating your chassis? Having experienced it before, that's exactly what it looks like.

Yes I am serious, it's because of the rules. I don't agree with them and will not submit information that I cannot control. (same issue that you were concerned about with your "biggest contributors"). Catch 22, huh? IIRC only 2 people that I know of "deleted their whole gallery" and one of them (ZmeFly) did it after the "rules" had been changed to prevent deletion. To an outsider, it appears that he had "inside" help to accomplish that. And anyway, What's it to you if they do delete the images that they own? The pictures BELONG to them (not you or I), just as the images of the "biggest contributor's" belong to them. Surely you don't believe that once they are posted the images belong to you? Your business partner sounds like a salesman, and you know what I think of salesmen. :devious: Let's not get into this unproductive discussion again. You know where I stand, I know where you stand, and neither of us is going to change anything. It's pointless to continue.
