Hi Pete Is this usable for a Stock R180 in a 240Z or is it strictly for R200 or in a V8 powered Z car?

Car sitting since 99....pre-start suggestions?
Welcome. Take it one step at a time, and do it right the first time & you'll have a satisfying journey and car that is reliable and a blast to drive. Many of us have BTDT and will offer help and advice along the way. (All you need to do is sort the wheat from the chaff. )

Great deal on 240 & early 260Z Tokico illuminas with springs Brand new! (Ebay)
Tokico BLUE struts have the same collar. It's on the REAR struts. (similar part number too, ending in 3016) It was reported here in Sept 0f 2003 and appears to be the result of Tokico phasing out some strut models and modifying other struts to take their place. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9037&highlight=Tokico+blue

You might also want to go through the brake system. Master, rear wheel cylinders, and calipers, and hoses before you attempt to drive it. It's quite likely that the brake fluid has absorbed enough water over the years to render the brake cylinders rusted and unsafe or inoperable. Rubber hoses could be rotten as well.

What is an original 82k l24 motor/tranny worth?
Three years ago I bought a L24 (w/ High Compression E88 Head), 4-speed Transmission, R-180 3.36 Differential, Driveshaft and Halfshafts, a complete Front and Rear Suspension (all had approx.70,000 miles, and a new (Rebuilt Starter) for $250.00 There is not much of a market for a used L24. At $450, I think it is more than a little overpriced.

will 7.5 inch rims fit?
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a definitive answer! I was hoping that you'd see the thread and post.
-
will 7.5 inch rims fit?
That's the thing, 38mm ISN'T correct for a Z!
-
will 7.5 inch rims fit?
Positive or Negitive 38mm? (will make a HUGE difference) IF it can be made to fit, it will no doubt require spacers to do so. That's about all I can tell you.
-
will 7.5 inch rims fit?
I can't answer your question, but someone else can. They'll need to know what offset is the rim? How big of tire will you put on it? It's a package deal as to whether they will "fit" or not.

One for the purists!
Not being critical of your post Gavin, but it's not even a "blower" (at least here in the USA, a supercharger is called a blower) sticking out of the hood. I'm not sure what that thing is called, but it just directs air into the carburetor (air horn or air box maybe?). So for all of the butchery to the hood, it provides little in the way of performance gain (at least compared to a real blower).

I've been stomped before.......it tickles I know of the quote that you refer to, but don't know the exact words either. Doesn't matter. The point of the comment was "How messed up does something have to be to be considered a mistake?" The square boxy lines at the back of the car do not look like they belong on the smooth, flowing, rounded design of the rest of the car. Modify all you (he) likes but, have some recognition of what you are modifying and what works with the design of the rest of the car. EDIT: I don't know much about V8 Z's either, but I saw 20 or 30 of them at the HybridZ Rio Vista meet last year, and I saw a wide variety of V8 engines mounts in many ways, and I don't remember one of them needing the hood punched. TTFN - That's all folks!

But if he does that, it's the same as clicking the "Post Reply" button. Only more steps to it. I took him to mean that he should have referred (by quoting) to the post that he was responding to

MSA Show
George: There hasn't been any "official" used parts venders there the years that I went. Also, I think that MSA frowns on people (entrants) bringing in parts to sell, BUT, I have seen entrants set a few parts in the back of their car or on the ground behind it with for sale signs. I didn't see anyone jump their case for doing so, but it's a big show and I didn't observe everyone, all the time. They do have some vendors, like K & N Filters, but I don't remember who they were.(except SportZ magazine is always there) Oh, if you want parts from MSA, best to get them on Friday or Saturday. Their business is usually packed on Sunday.

Yes, and aside from the hair, heavy eye & face make-up, the lack of a nose, and wearing pajamas to court, Michael Jackson is a normal person. It' simple, FOR ME the car looks ridiculous with the cutout in the hood. The entire rear of the car has been altered with the wing and boxy lower valance that detract from the smooth flowing lines inherant to the 240Z design. It's like grafting a turd onto a rose bud. No sense of style. The use of the plain-jane round tail lights just caps off a really poor sense of style. Now with that said, I could live with the wheels, the paint looks nice although the gas door appears to be a darker "colour" (that's for you Aussies)than the rest of the car in every picture. I don't mind the V8 but it should have been mounted lower, or a shorter inlet manifold used so the hood didn't need to be butchered to allow the chrome sticking out of it.

MSA Show
George: What you may not realize is that the MSA show takes place on a public street, right in front of the MSA business. They are located in a light industrial area and have neighboring businesses which depend on access. The street (a rather looong block) is closed from Saturday night until after the clean up on Sunday. I don't think they'd be able to have the show if they insisted on closing the street for more than Sunday. I have not displayed my car, but have parked across the street (starting at 6AM) for the 2001, 2002, 2003 events and observed the line up of entrants to enter the show area. They (MSA staff) are organized, but with the sheer number of cars, it takes time to get everyone checked in and parked. So plan on getting up early to get in line.

I think most (maybe not all) of us feel that way, and are aware of the relative lack of safety built into the Z car compared to modern cars.

L.e.d. Christmas Trees?
I'm only posting about PRO (NHRA style, the REAL DEAL Racing) Drag Racing, where they have 1 AMBER, and 1 GREEN, period. I couldn't care less what is done on the podunk local tracks around the country (including the one closest to me)

ENERGY SUSPENSION HYPERFLEX Master KIT ?
No other suggestion, but with a 70, there will be no transmission PU to purchase (unless something is out there that I don't know about) as your car has the early style trans mount like my early 72. I think it was lat 72 or early 73 when they improved the trans mount. There is a PU kit for that later style mount only AFAIK.

L.e.d. Christmas Trees?
It's all about how quickly you see the AMBER light. If you see green, you've lost the race 99 times out of 100. Ever hear of a hole-shot or a REDLIGHT?? If anyone cares to read about the changes NHRA implemented 2YEARS AGO that include amber LED's (which "illuminate quicker, by about three-hundredths of a second, than the incandescent lights": http://www.nhra.com/2003/news/January/013104.html They didn't improve the lighting system to give ANYONE an advantage, it's about using modern technology to minimize problems and to belong to the 21st century. HELLO

That hasn't stopped their use in traffic signals, I doubt it would be (or is) a problem.

I think maybe she's a little old for you (52)? B'sides she comes with a little baggage (of course it's 1/2 of Steven's money)

L.e.d. Christmas Trees?
I am not sure, but they may have already done that. A couple of years ago the NHRA modified and upgraded the timing system and christmas tree that they use for National events. It really messed up some of the drivers for a while. It used to be that they considered a .400/sec. reaction time as perfect. Now perfect is .000/sec. (where it belongs)
