Zed?
Guess the USA never used that bottle thing since (back then) our bottles were 32 ounces. Now most use 1 litre bottles.

MSA Show
The date is set almost a year in advance. It is argueably the largest Z show in the USA (bigger than the ZCCA National Convention Car Show in most years). All of the info is on the MotorSport Auto website. It's also listed on our CZCC Calendar 4/22 - 4/24

What to do with pulled engine/trans?
Yeah, the aluminum head and Trans case have got to be worth more that a few dollars at scrap metal prices.

Good Helmet to Get
If I read the website correctly, #2 was the number 1 choice for Special Olympians. High Praise indeed.

Good Helmet to Get
My vote was for a combination of #2 and #3 for maximum protection.

Good Helmet to Get
He'll need to be extra careful with a Light Sabre Shifter. Might catch fire to the custom shift boot. (no console to worry about, tho)

Free Free Free!!!
Maybe. Actually to be perfectly clear.......... Bryan YOU were the one to bring politics to the party. Focus your eyes front of your head: See that? It's your post (#14) Until after your post #14, I was responding to your comment about a radio broadcaster. Never mentioned anything to do with politcis. I avoided that completely, and only made reference to his legal woes by using the term "Oxycontin". i.e. his trial for posession of illegally obtained drugs (where his statements to authorities were called into question).

Free Free Free!!!
Bry, I did see the humor and responded in humor. FYI, I listen to at least part of Limbaugh's radio program most days of the week. (I don't agree with much he says, but I listen anyway) I've said it many times here, but just for your benefit I'll say it again. I am NOT a Democrat. I'm a Libertarian, OK? I didn't vote for Kerry, nor would I have voted for Ted (the Drunk) Kennedy, or Robert C. (Pork-Barrel) Byrd if either one was running for office in my State. At least try to see the humor that is right in front of your nose. There's a lot of it if you only look. Oh by the way, if you knew anything about Rio Linda, you'd realize how unlikely it is that a rich cat living in FL would run into many folks from that small town. He knows of the town from his early years as a broadcaster in the Sacramento area. I doubt he encounters anyone from Rio Linda in South FL. (their population is only 10K, and that's a huge # compared to when Rush was working in CA)

gotta sell my 69 fairlady
What can possibly make you think that it ISN'T (wasn't) accepted in that location (in the market of it's greatest sales)? Just because you don't think it belongs there, doesn't mean that the US market agrees with that belief. Many of us laugh when you and others whine about it's placement. Are your arms so short that it would be a burden to reach it 6" further away? :stupid:

gotta sell my 69 fairlady
Thanks for the info, Carl. That's about what I expected. A/T Z's weren't very prevelent in the area I live. I usually saw them in the ownership of older people in my area. (i.e. older than Baby Boomers) (I was the one who inquired)

LMAO X 1000 ! ! ! !- Dim lights
The earliest 240Z's originally came with a 45-Amp Alternator which was replaced at some point with a 50-Amp unit. Victoria British currrently offers 50-Amp and 60-Amp Alternators for 240/260Z's. (I believe that MSA also sells them) Also, in our Tech Articles section is a write up about converting a 240Z to an Internally Regulated 60-Amp Alternator from a 78 280Z http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5997- Free Free Free!!!
.......and we all know that everything Rush (Oxycontin) Limbaugh says is true.- Dim lights
Not necessarily. The alternator output on 240Z's (especially the early ones) is considered marginal. At low RPM's Alt. output may not be sufficient to power Engine, Headlamps, instrumentation, heater fan, stereo, etc.- How Fast Is Fast To You?
Ditto :tapemouth- Dim lights
Also, if the car has the external Voltage regulator, it is usually advisable to replace both it and the alternator if one or the other is deemed bad. When one fails, it often tends to cause damage to the other.- gotta sell my 69 fairlady
I'll skip comment on the rest of the post, but would you care to elaborate on the above quote? I've seen one V..... Zcar sell for mid $20's ($27K IIRC, and it was advertised for sale for years), and haven't seen or heard of ANY even approaching $30K in years. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4533097490&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT currently at $20.1K- VIN Decoding
The Motorsport Auto catalog lists different part numbers for the 73 240Z and Early 260Z bumper filler pieces (which is what you are asking about)- VIN Decoding
Lot's of differences under the skin. Flat Top carbs (previously mentioned) smog equipment such as different version of cylinder head, & Charcoal canister added more complicated (in general) electrical system lighted heater control panel flasher switch changed from Toggle to Push/Pull design, bumpers (previously mentioned) and many more minor differences. (diameter of body plugs, etc)- gotta sell my 69 fairlady
Some people are taking this 240Z v.s Fairlady too seriously. Different versions of essentially the same car (S30). One "better" than the other? Better for what? For whom? What was deemed "better" by the factory (Nissan) for the various different selling markets may still apply. "Most" people love the _ _ _ _ _ _ version? Anything to back that up? Maybe the lack of an English language website about "these cars" indicates a relative lack of interest in them outside the home market? How many people outside the US are interested in Edsels, or Buicks? Enough to support a website about them written in Arabic? I think Mr. Beck encouraged people to provide data for publication on his website. It's (IMO) unreasonable to expect him to expend his time and effort on something that he doesn't wish to. Value of a JDM car (which located in the USA) that needs restoration may be compromised by the serious difficulty in finding parts to accomplish a proper resto on it. Look at how much trouble people have in sourcing parts for #0026/0027, and #0215 North American market cars (Chris' and Mark's cars) None of this is meant to devalue anyone's interest in any version of S30.- VIN Decoding
1973 model 240Z's in the USA (and maybe Canada) had 6 digits in the sequesntial numbering......starting at (HLS30)120000 or around that number. - front speakers
