  1. I think you have covered it, Enrique. Maybe he's referring to the connections to the fuel pump relay on the passenger kick panel? (there is one there, isn't there?) I'm guessing here, but that is what I took him to be asking about.

  4. That is what made me think the MSD was for your car. You had said in SHOUT (or somewhere) that you were getting a MSD for Xmas.

  6. Do you guys have 3 Z's?? I thought Vicky's car was the Vintage Z, or did Nissan allow L28's into those cars when they had them restored?

Well, Good luck and stay safe out there. What species do you fish for, or is that a dumb question? (I know nothing about comercial fishing except that it can be very dangerous)
  8. That's why "foriegn" cars dominate the automobile market in the US. Neither is Australia. Seriously, I "could" believe the "It is relatively common knowledge that US dyno's often produce optimistic numbers." statements if they were made with something to back them up besides wind. Documentation? Published opinion of RESPECTED and NOTABLE members of the automotive industry? At this point in this thread, it's all chat, suppostion, and "my dyno is better than yours" posturing. Believe it or not, the point of my post was to incite someone (hell, anyone) to come up with a believable bit of PROOF one way or the other.

Patrick: Most of the ones I remember seeing suctioned on eBay (or otherwise heard of sales data) seem to go in the neighborhood of $16,000 to $19,000 USD. I would imagine that quality (i.e. wear and tear, mileage since purchased) can vary quite a bit. It has been at least several years since I've heard of one going for more than $20K. I do remember someone buying one down in Florida a couple years ago for around $10K USD if I recall correctly. I believe Carl Beck knows a lot about that sale. Have a good holiday! (Do you guys fish in the dead of winter? Just curious.)

"should" People "should" not get so upset over what someone else chooses to call "their" car. "should" doesn't mean it's ever going to happen. You (or I) cannot control everything said or done in the world. Really Ben, You know what that car is all about, I know what it is all about. In spite of claims that "This vehicle has been disassembled, meticulously inspected, and reassembled by technicians at Nissan". Tilting after windmills just wastes energy that could be used installing your new Wats, or me installing my headlight relay harness.

It was not the dealers that authorized the refurbishment of theses cars. AFAIK, It was Nissan USA. and yes I know the difference, but I think the endless discussion of it is a waste of air. People will refer to them in the terms they wish to, not the terms someone else wishes then to.

It will never end. After all, the FACTORY (or at least Nissan USA) DID AUTHORIZE THESE CARS.
  14. It all depends on the way the engine is installed in the chassis. Location, Location, Location. There are several different methods to installing a V8 in a Z chassis. There are a few guys here that may be able to advise you, but if you really want to do a V8 Z.................... Answers to ALL of your questions are available at www.hybridz.org These guys have seen and done it all.

Bet somebody is going to pout about the "F" word being used in the seller's description.

My early 72 (11/71) has the vertical wires also.
  19. Maybe it's just that the US Dynos are more accurate, and the Aussie dynos are inferior? (that ought to stir the pot!)
  20. That is the way it would be tested at a radiator shop. Does it have good flow through the core? If it will hold 20 lbs pressure and flow through it isn't restricted by sediment, I wouldn't be afraid of using it. On the other hand, you might consider having a radiator shop remove one of the tanks from it and check it out internally. Just a thought.

In the USA, back in the 70's, "some" aftermarket glass companies sold hatch glass that did not have the defroster grid. I had a friend that got "stuck" with a clear hatch glass (by his insurance co.) when a thief busted into his 74 260Z to steal things out of his car while it was parked in a mall parking lot.

  23. But, doesn't Jesse James buy all his parts from AutoZone? just kidding you Stephen, I wouldn't buy anything from AutoZone (unless it was a liquid that came in a sealed container from a nationally known company) I love a bargain as well as the next guy, maybe even more, but that $60 heater core and $15 head gasket...............well let's just say I'd never gamble on them in my car. There are other places to scrimp that make more sense to me. Price is WAY to cheap to give me any confidence that they are quality parts.
  24. So you are just going to assume that the cylinder head isn't warped from this blown head gasket situation?
