  1. Looks more like a $2000 or less valued car from the pictures. According to Page 2, the car doesn't run. How much are you willing to gamble that it can be made safe and reliable for a resonable amount of money? Eleven years is a long time for a car to sit. Lots of parts will need to be replaced or rebuilt. Then there is the rust............. Good for a long term project, but IMO not worth even close to $3500 or $3000 or $2500 or...............

If an adjustment at the slave doesn't resolve the issue......Sounds like the pressure plate may not be as "grippy" as it once was (engine torque overcoming p/p clamping force). Time for a replacement p/p, disc, t/o bearing, & pilot bushing.
  3. The wheels on "Ruby" don't look like factory wheels. They apear to be aftermarket wheels. I don't know about people in FL, but back in the day, a certain number of CA owners did put 13" wheels on their Z's for some unGodly reason that I have no clue about. Tire Size ( and thus wheel diameter) is easy to confirm, it's printed all over the the sidewall of the tire.
  4. Where are you guys seeing "Loom Tape" on Eastwoods site? Al I can find is the "Cold Shrink" and "Wiring Harness Wrapping Vinyl" and "W.H.W. Cloth" tapes. Are you refering to one of these or something different that I'm not finding? http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=573&itemType=CATEGORY&iMainCat=561&iSubCat=573&page=1
  5. No link to the new auction?
  6. there goes 5 points in the judging.
  7. Dave: Do you have any video of the Mt Hamilton trip from last summer?
  8. Yes, I misunderstood what you were saying. If it ran on the starter fluid, then carbs should be relatively OK I haven't looked hard enough to see a "trickle" of fuel into my fuel filter, but there is always visable "air" in my filter. (and my car runs just fine). You might try what MikeW said about routing the output of the pump into a container. If that doesn't confirm a bad pump, my bet is still on plugged lines or fuel tank pickup tube. This is an extremely common situation when a 240Z has sat for a long time (even if started once in a great while). Fuel turns to jelly and rust in the tank combines with it to plug things up. Inlet and Outlet Hoses and 2 nuts and one bolt should be the only things to remove in order to change the pump. Do you have a picture to post of the bracket you're referring to?

That would be the ones Victor and I recommended in the attached threads.
  10. Fuel filter is BEFORE the fuel pump, you won't see pressure there. (unless you have a electric fuel pump near the tank) How are you sure the lines are clean? Have you looked into each end of the lines? in Engine compartment, and back by the tank? Blown air through them? If everything is as clean as you say, it can only be a couple of things. Pump or Carbs. Wait, you say it ran with the alternate fuel supply for 2 minutes? What was forcing the fuel into the carbs? The pump? If so, then it almost has to be lines plugged as you've proved the fuel pump and carbs work.
  11. You will see some air in the filter. Has the car sat without running for a long time? How long did you try to start the car with the alternate fuel supply? Remember these pumps only generate a few lbs of pressure, not like an EFI fuel pump. It can take a bit of time for the fuel to fill the lines and float bowls of the carbs. See http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15474&page=1&pp=15 for an example of what other people find in cases similar to what you describe.
  12. I believe that all we'd have to do is ask Victor. It only takes a couple of clicks to move it. (and I agree it would be a good idea to place it in Tech Articles)

What processes are those? I only see people suggesting (and agreeing) that it be serviced by professionals.
  14. I think Wick Humbles "How to Restore" book has a recommendation. BTW, the OEM wrap on my 72 looks, acts, and feels like common electrical tape.
  15. HP figures are already available from a number of sources. Dyno accuracy varies, weather conditions vary, not everyone really knows what has been done to their engine. Sunbelt and Rebello can tell you what various builds will net you.
  16. I doubt you'd get 200 HP out of rebuilding SU's and adding a Pertronix either. "Tuning" a L24 to make the kind of power you mention is a pipe dream. Your best bet for detailed info on what can/should be done to an L24 or L28 achieve HP in the area you mention is to invest $20 on the "How To Modify Your Nissan & Datsun OHC Engine" book. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=70-1050
  17. Beandip is right. Also, the L28 (F54) blocks also have a slightly stronger design than the L24. I am sure others can give you more detail.

$350 seems out of line high. I had mine done for $175 (SF Bay Area, CA prices and was warrenteed) about 4-5 years ago. I think you should be able to find a better price. Keep looking. See the two threads links here for some info on 2 great companies that can do it for you IF you cannot find a local shop with resonable prices. New tanks have not been available for many years. BTW, a home repair for this sort of thing is IMO not advised. Toxic chemicals for one thing. Second, if there is rust in the tank, it usually needs to be cut open, blastyed, then repaired. (usually by soldering) Then sealant applied. Lots of work, no guarentee you'll do a credible job. Last, it should be pressure tested to confirm sound repair. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8491&highlight=Moyer http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9050&highlight=Moyer
  19. Are you going to be installing a larger than stock sway bar? (Makes a big difference on how this should be repaired)
  20. Read my Lips!
  21. Jason, that may be the case, but you won't ever find ME trying to justify the war. OK?
  22. No, That's in IRAQ educate yourself!
  23. Bambikiller240 replied to BunkyScott's post in a topic in Help Me !!
..........and unless you rebuild the engine to put out really high horsepower, adding a header is a waste of money.
  24. You're right. These video's probably wouldn't be in Iraq. The popular video's in Iraq are ones showing beheadings, and tongue removal (and other tortures) of infidels. :stupid:
  25. Amazing that Bill's encounter with the ditch was captured and posted on the internet so quickly.
