Engine blocks with "R" and "X" stamped on the engine block # area are factory rebuilt bare engines, sold by Nissan parts department as replacement engines, rather than engines that were used in certain model/market/spec cars. I know this for sure because I have two factory remanufacturerd engines stamped this way. Nothing special otherwise, no "racing" bullshit or anything like that. I would guess that the "R" means "Remanufactured" or Rebuilt or mayeven be Recalled (?) or something of that nature. Eiji

The Bionic Woman drove a 280Z. Lindsay is the best. I have to get her autograph my Zs. A red 280z in Capricorn One, circa 1978. OJ Simpson was in it (the movie) among others.

Extreme and hypothetical senarios... Paint carries max 10pts, so if everything else is perfect, even though the car is in primer (say it scores 0 on the paint), it could theoretically still tally up 290pts or above to win a gold (medallion or cup). Also, a car that scores above 290pts, but the engine is dead(say internal damage and therefore judges can't see, => no point diduction). She can still win a Gold (medallion or cup).. None of that will probablly happen in real life, but it could theoretically happen...Odd...

  11. Hi. Thank you for those who replied and sorry for the late reply. I am looking exclusively for Mikuni manifold. MUST be Mikuni. No custom manifold or Nissan competition manifold needed, as I have 4 or 5 of those. Anyone who has one and can sell to me, or can trade, please let me know. Many thanks. Eiji
  12. Hey Mark- Are you coming to the Tidewater event on 5/17? Mike- It's not 240z related because it is for 4cylinder (L18/L20B) intake manifold. If this violates the message posting rule, my appologies. Eiji-
  13. Good morning all- Sorry it's not a 240Z related topic, but I am posting it here in hopes that someone would have what I am looking for. I am in need of a Mikuni intake manifold for dual solex carburetors setup for L16/L18/L20B. Has to be Mikuni manifold. If anyone has it to sell, or can point me to the right direction, please let me know. I appreciate your help. Eiji
  14. Hello. I have a question for French speaking Z owners. Some or most of S130Z and Z31, as well as a few other models came equipped with voice warning system (a.k.a. talking lady). In francophone, does she speak French or English? Merci beaucoup.
  15. Hello folks. First of, thank you for the opportunity to post messages here. Second, Thank you Carl for your comment. I am so honored. Third, the below is the email message I got from ebay, just to show everyone what went on: Thank you. 16. Hi. This is Eiji Hosomi of Datsun Spirit, Inc. I was the seller of this auction. I noticed there was a fraudulant activity (or hacking or hijiacking or whatever you may call it), and that I have reported that to ebay. I did not do it. I have spoken with the winning bidder on the phone just now and he thinks something is wiered as well. Unfortunate thing has happend, and I appologize for the inconvenience for those who were watching the item, though I didnt create the mess. I would appreciate your understanding. As soon as I find out why this happend and so forth, I will let you know. Kind regards, Eiji Hosomi Datsun Spirit, Inc

In the US that is the case, but in Japan S130 with L28 is called 280Z.

Fairlady if you are talking about S30, they did NOT got 2.8liter. L28 wasn't until 280Z (which is S130). Remember, 240Z can also be a Fairlady (Fairlady 240Z or Datsun 240Z).
  19. Hi everyone, hello Alan, it's been awhile...(3yrs?) Hope all is well. This is Eiji (Hosomi). I have the S31 stuff at hand and thought people may enjoy the pictures. As for PW , it is not just switch & motor added to non-PW door. PW is a completely different setup and that the regulator is different, motor (of course), and the reinforcement panel. To be picky, door panels are different too, (minor details). Without the reinforcement metal panel, the power of PW will twist and bend the door metal. As for PW switch chrome covers, they were not assigned with parts #s from the begining. At the moment, I am stripping my 2nd Z (77 US280Z) in order to fully restore/customize from the ground up. I will be installing these S31 gadgets on the 77 in a few months, as soon as the body shell is done, and I will be showing daily progress and notes on new discoveries on my blog in both English and in Japanese. If anyone is interested, please check it out. I'd love to hear from you. http://blog.livedoor.jp/datsunspirit/ www.datsunspirit.com My friend in Japan with S31 is doing the exact opposit of me, and he is converting his S31 into 280Z. I will also try to post his discoveries as much as possible.
  20. Another reminder about 9/2 ShenandoahValley Datsun Tour. We will meet at Virginia Rest Area on Rt-66 at mile marker 48 at 10:00am on 9/2. Currently, 8 people (8 S30Zs) have expressed interest. Other Datsun cars are welcome. Anyone else interested? Please contact me: RUDEL87@hotmail.com
  21. Hello everyone. It's my first time starting a thread. My name is Eiji, I'm a member of Nothern VA Z club. My buddy and I are planning on a little Datsun cruise trip to Shenandoah on 9/2 (sat) the labor day weekend. We will probablly meet in Centerville/Manassas/Gainsville in the mid morning, then head out to Shenandoah valley. We may go to one of the Shennandoa Park's free parking lot (Panorama?) and eat dogs/burgers, there, do a little car show (just looking at cars), cruise around on Skyline Drive, and stop at gift shop(s) to buy apple butter and/or other VA local gift stuff on the way back. Any interests? Please let your other Northen VA/Southern MD Datsun friends know about it. Not only S30Z, but also S130Z, 510, 620, 720, or other Datsun cars and trucks, or old Japanese motorcycles (i.e. Honda CB, etc) are welcome. Bring friends/wife/family/etc and have fun. Date: 9/2 (if rain, 9/3) Time: 10:00am Place: TBA (somewhere near route 66 or 495, depends on who attends) Contact: Eiji Hosomi (RUDEL87@hotmail.com) Feel free to pass this along. Thanks! Eiji

Hello. You would need to connect together the two wires that used to hook up to stock coil resister to make a circuit loop. Without these two wires hooked up (I think they are both black but dont remember), you can fire up the car but wont idle (due to un-looped circuit). Thats why when the ignition is at "Start" position the car starts like you said but as soon as you release the key it dies. Hope it helps.
  23. I think 70 got different gauge did it not?
  24. HI Please let me know. I am really in need of one. Thanks.
  25. I am looking for a working fuel/amp gauge for 72-73. The harness is 4wire type, not 6. If you have it, please let me know. Thank you. krsearch3@earthlink.net
