http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auction_detail.asp?id=14610151 Im thiking of buying a Datsun Cherry 100a 1977 as a daily runner while i make my fairlady (260z) roadworthy again, had been searching the net and found out most of the basics about the car, but i would like to know other people's experience with the above car model, vehicle will be used mainly to get to uni and back, in heavyis trafiic, -maintance -upgrades options -cool factor -how much are they worth i should buy some ecobox (honda), but after driving a fairlady for about a year i find newer cars to boring, visual wise (love cars designed in the 70's) and driving wise, but i am not rich enough to buy a more expensive classic. thanks

i tired that rain x stuff, and had similar experience, had to use pretty strong window cleaner to get rid of it.

my heater dose move all the way to the right hand side so that i can direct the air to the windscreen. it get jams up about an inch from the end. - does the hater blow air on the windscreen. - why is it not travelling to the end. the heater dose work car is a 1977 GS31 fairlady 2+2 are there any alternatives, i need it to work cause i use it everyday and it gets a bit hard when it starts to rain and its starts fogging up, i usually have the window down but if it rains from the wrong direction then i cant have it down.

i was gona do that, but i fell in love with my L20, has not let me down yet, plus ill lose the lovely exhaust note once it becomes a turbo car. but if theres no engine then you might as well make it go as fast as a zed looks already.

thats cool, i want to try that with mine, its stock like ures, was it hard, did you have to use diffcult's techniques or simple power oversteer, ive never tried it yet, any advice would be helpful.

exactly. i arrive at uni grinning like a mug everyday, best part of my day, im 21, o substainal income, but a 78 fairladys (260z) is my first car, and i drive it everyday in fairly heavies traffic everyday, love it, sure they will break mine cost me $1000 to get it reliable for daily driving, i have to fix the rust, headlights and heater (fogs up when it rains) for next warrent. but boy is it fun. if you truely like driving for the sake of driving, not to show off or pick up chicks (thou its good for that to) than ya cant beat a z. speeding tickets are another problem, you just feel you are going to slow most of the time.

wiring in and out of alternator, espically if it has been changed to internal regulator altenator (if it had one of those). i had same problem,

no worries searched forum and found most of the answers, couldnt delete tread for some reason.

if im driving hard, and say i accelerate long for a while on third than brake hard for a corner and then when i press the accelerator hard'is at the apex, my car backfires, its almost always dose it, is this normal ? something wrong ? car is running normal and is almost stock standard expect for K&N air filter. exhaust is standard i think. fairlady z fuel injected 2liter.

dose not have side mirrors, i looking for some, i dont like the fender look though. dose have electric windows, i post pic some as i find a method of taking them.

i have a nissan fairlady z "registred as a fairlady 2 (two)", been told it is a 260z has g-nose front is 2+2 But i looked at the plate in the engine bay and had following details, C-GS31 1998 cc 2605 mm L20 GS31-004811 reading around a s30 is a 240z / 260z so what is mine ? ? thanks in advance

yep i know exactly what you mean, when i mad at my car (260z) for costing me more to fix, i take her for a drive through this back road, nice mix of fast and slow curves, taken right its beautiful, engine howling in third , backfiring on lift offs, tires screaching. nothing like it.

i had similar problems, took to auto electic, they said my alternator was draining the power due to faulty part within alternator. (5 min job to test). paid roughly $150 to fix. But turns out my wiring from by alternator was draining the power. get this checked before refurbishing alternator. ps. my 260z has had alternator replaced with internal regulator version. a few others i know have had similar problem with their Z's
