  2. Hi Alan, I’m not shy I only just forgot. We finished 48. If you look at this page, you will find all the information. They made an overall list, it does not matter what kind of car you have. It was an open rally with free roads from point to point. The only thing was they gave you a copy of a Michelin map scale 1:100.000. This is very hard to read especially in the Ardennes! Because at this scale only the ‘main’ roads are printed. Sometimes they gum out roads to make it more difficult and harder to find the quickest road. Therefore, you have to measure, measure and measure. Then there is the pressure of TC’s (time controls), if you are late it will cost you points! And points are converted to time, so the quickest will be number one! http://www.hornelandrally.nl/index.php?option=rally&sub=rallysport04 According the regulations your average speed is 50km/u. With out making mistakes this is fast, but the more mistakes you make the faster you have to drive. Therefore, you are speeding up. However, I still got that one brain cell that tells me “what the hell are you doing, you worked on your car for many years and for a lot off money”. The other cells tell me to go on, because it is great fun after all. However, it will break me up when I crash. And I have ‘seen’ many people doing so this rally! One MG made a roll over, one Healy hit a light post because of a steering thing broke of and many people hit the dirt:( I do have a standard 180 diff, standard brakes although the four pods are coming shortly, a 5-speed gearbox. But it is not speed, which I’m concerned about. I still think it is skill, navigator performance, luck, ??? Willy Cave, navigator and winner last year ended this time place 34???:stupid: Pictures: http://www.hornelandrally.nl/index.php?option=photo http://www.fotojpa.com/2004/2004_ihhr/2004_ihhr_1.htm four pages see below page 1 sorry billramsey2002, Yes, I am still the only Datsun in the field! The 240Z is much unknown in Holland and most of the ‘snobs’ prefer an English or Italian type of car. That gives you status, they think???? But then again a Japanese worrier hunts them. Therefore, this is all what you see at pictures
  3. Back to the roots of rallying. We have done the www.hornelandrally.nl, a rally of 900km long. What a night! The no1 car started Friday at 14.00 hours, we with our number 99 did that ninety-nine minutes later. I left my house at ten Friday morning to be on time in the ‘parce ferme’ at noon, by then I did not realise that I would see my bed the next evening! Still it was very nice to participate despite the bad weather conditions, lots of rain and heavy wind made the Belgian Ardennes difficult to drive through. The Ardennes are full of clay/mud so one and one is two. Many off road accidents occur. One made roll over in the grassland, one hit a light mast and many where driving to fast and wend off. Is was my first semi speed rally although the regulations say a speed limit of 50km per hour….. Speeds of 70 – 90 km on slippery roads where no exception. They brought us all the way to France, the capitol Reims was the turning point in the rally. This was indeed tru: ."Colourful fearsome cars were roaring in the woods again. The sight and sound of the mighty Datsun 240Z's will long be savoured" LOL Only two stops off 40 minutes (!) (yeah it was sure back to the roots) where allowed to feed the human body <if you where on yime> the rest of the time it was chocolate, syrup waffles and water. we finished forty-eighth, kept the car in one piece and are very satisfied with that place.:classic: There are plenty of photographs to see at their website including start and finish lists, also check this website, www.fotojpa.com, on the upper left side for Horneland

Gentlemen, this is an response from Ed at my invitation. [Guus: Thanks very much for your message and for the information which I am now getting from other people as well. It was interesting to be offered this car to drive on short notice in Sicily, and we don't claim to be experts on all cars, fortunately. I took some advice on the history, but the article went to press before we realised what had happened. However, as late as last week, Nissan Italia are still argueing the case!! I covered the Monte Carlo Historic Rally recently and asked the teams to tell me which 240Zs were original and which weren't and they couldn't, though the steering on the left should be the giveaway. We have learned a lot and I would like to visit you sometime. best wishes Ed] This is no excuse! People who are driving the MC rally nowadays are hobbyists and do not have to know anything of the history. Sure there where Datsun 240Z’s in works colours. But that will not express the owners have to know every thing about it?? It is just a mirror from the past. No, that was the JOB for “VINTAGE RACECAR" magazine!!!! If you are going to make an item about anything do you home work and don’t tell fairytales. I doubt he ask Tony Fall any question otherwise he should have known…………he was there in Monte Carlo!!!!!

Hi all, I you look at the last section of the story, you will find the name Paul Crossen. Even that name is wrong spelled, it had to be Cnossen! If you make that many mistakes as Alan predicted already, you are a cheap B type magazine. I’ve no other words for that. Paul is a Dutchman and I phoned him up this morning. I knew Paul because he made the story of my car. He knew Ed was making a story about the Italian car. And Paul ‘warned’ Ed that it looked to him, as the Italian car was not real works car!!!!!! So Ed had pre information from a college. This stinks!!!!

Last night I did send the editor and ED a mail with the two pictures of the Italian no5%.... ROFL I invited Ed when he is in Holland to come over and have a drive in my 120 decibel powered car.:tapemouth I’m waiting for an answer. Carel Beck, your name is involved in this article. Where do you stand, what is your input in this matter????

When they send me their brochure back in 2000, this picture was amongst it and much more. Here you can see what they mean by having a museum. And look what is in the middle….the glorious no5!!!!!!

HI Guys, Just coming in from work and read the article as well. I got the magazine send by one of my friend in the states. Thanks Ben! As I spoke out already at the UK forum I too think this car is a fake. The Italians had the time of their lives telling the ‘Yanks’ this weird story. Or the Italians are big layers. First of all, if somebody owns a works rally car, private or factory, you don’t mess up!!! You keep the car as it was, certainly if you are the director of Nissan Italy!!! What they did is pure rape! If it was a works there is nothing left to proof it, it now has a front and rear spoiler! A totally wrong colour! Wrong wheels! Wrong exhaust! Fake side lifting jacks. Etc etc. :tapemouth :tapemouth Why in gods name, do you turn a works car in to a road car? And if you are the safari winner you say you are, why you do carry the no 5 plate? You know why….have a look at this picture. Taken back in June 2001, here you see the same car driving under start number 206 doing the Giro the Sicilia, with no5 on the doors, why???!:stupid: I had e-mail contact with the Italians back in October 2000, after I told them what my planes where it became silent. This is bluff pure bluff

Thanks EScanlon for the support. Here is the first part of the story. I bought the trumpets in Texas through eBay. The following week a friend travelled to the Marriott Orlando, knowing there was a parcel coming. She returned without the parcel. I would assume somebody had to attend her of this parcel at her name!!! So I mailed the Marriott, “We have found your package; it was being held in the Business Center for pickup but was never retrieved. What would you like us to do with it?”. I said;” This great news! It makes my Christmas right! She probably did not know where or how the delivery worked, foreigners you knowJ. Could you send it to my home in Holland? My address: Guus van der Bol Etc, etc….Holland If there’s any cost I like to hear it.” The Marriott answered: “Your parcel was mailed out 12/19/03, but I don't know how long it will take to reach you.” Not knowing what kind of shipping she mend I waited, Christmas went by, New Year went by and by January 19th I mailed Marriott again. If she could deliver some kind of info what kind of shipping they used; ground, air or what? Because the parcel wasn’t delivered yet. Responds of Marriott: “Sir, your package has been attempted to be delivered twice unsuccessfully. You need to call 31 20 655 8080 and reference Airborne Express #3754840784 and arrange for delivery.” How can they attempt to be delivered twice if the address is not right?? I did not see anybody or found anything? Man this stinks but I can’t lay my finger on it. I mailed airborne US, they keep saying we did not do any thing wrong and so says the Marriott. I will send the Marriott a mail with a responsibility claim of $120. What you said, they had a contract not I. Let their insurance company pay the bill.

Yeh, that’s the problem. Perhaps sender did not want to get it back and says destroy it! On their tracking website you see when they took it, where it went and the WRONG address. You think they will fake this all?
  17. Z-point replied to Z-point's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
Mike, Thanks. If only I get some advice, for what to do! You are a big help too; I’m going to ask the hotel, for a copy of the shipping label. I assume they keep this in record? you know what it was in parcel? 6 old mikuni trompets!!!

Hi guys, Question; is there a US lawyer in this Z club. If so is he or she willing to help me out with some nasty things between me, the Marriott hotel and Airborne express (now DHL)? The case is as follows: the Marriott did send me a parcel, hired the Airborne express but somehow the address was wrong. Parcel lost! Gone $120!!!! Airborne says we did not fill in the wrong address. Marriott says we wrote the right address. And here I am, down on the other side of the ocean thinking what to do!! In my opinion the Marriott is responsible. But what can I do???? the addres was Guus van der Bol Holland Germany??? Airborne Amsterdam did not know what to do, waited 3-4 weeks and distroyed the parcel.

He you guys, you are giving me too much honour. Because a friend of mine had 1250 models! :stupid: :stupid: He collected all types, all shapes and all colours. Now ….he sold every thing. After a time, things end. :tapemouth I also collected all types. Since a while, I’m focussing on the S30 – 240Z – rally stuff. I am selling the ZX stuff, brochures, models etc. before the 350Z came out the advertising burro, TBWA Chiat/Day, made a card game, remember? At one of the cards, my name and hobby was mentioned. At that time a had a hugh website with all models ranked scale 12, 20, 22, 24, 25, 28, 32, 45 and 48 over 150 models! :cheeky: Showing the plastic models is momentarily not possible, what is left is stored. The picture I showed was a year old! Sorry. All my models are in boxes for the same reason as yours when old half blind and shaking hands …..in boxes the make the most $$$$$. At that time, I even made my own 240Z pin in six different colours. Any interest? Selling them for $5. I have, I believe, 140 pins left. A bulk sell will go for $3 per pin. Perhaps less. Oh, I like so many things to do. Make a rally site, make model library (again) and make a special site with all odd things from over the world :alien:
  22. Z-point replied to Z-point's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
Perhaps it is time to make a special thread of models cars and toys, but I warn you. This is endless stuff.

Then there is also SUN three colours and cheap. http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3585382539&category=43854 This al makes a total of ’30 to 40’Z models….go get them!! try a search at eBay.
  24. You have to wait until Alan comes back from Japan, in about two weeks from now. He is one of the happy few who know his way over there.
