240zx, agree 100%, only prob is that the good drivers would end up being taken out by the idiot drivers hey.
  2. SBC = Small block chevy. So would the RB26DETT be a bit too heavy for the circuit? What's a VQ30DET out of?
  3. Would there be a major difference in the way the car would feel between the two engines, eg braking, cornering, accel/top speed?? Also i'm kinda building this with the annual hill climb event in townsville in mind. Which engine would best suit that sort of event? (Not just straight up a hill though, lotsa tight cornering too)
  4. Hey guys, I went on to www.hybridz.org looking for info on an RB26DETT conversion. What happened was that i read how to do that, then got curious and read how to do a chev V8 swap. By the time i got through all that it was about 2am, and i had too many ideas running through my head. Now i don't know which one i want! Now i figured the chev V8 parts might be harder to source the rb parts in australia? Anyone got any input to help me decide? Cause i was looking for an australian section on hybridz to ask about availability in australia but yeah, no go there. -Cheers

I like the sounds of it all! Is there any 6-speed gearbox i could fit in? Just out of curiosity

I'm just very attracted to twin turbo's. Call me dumb, but yeah. And i probably will mod it eventually cause i'll get bored And like i said, won't mod it MUCH, prob do a bit straight out e.g. intercooler, maybe bigger turbos, BOV, a few bits and peices. On the note of it being a 4WD engine, i don't know anything about this, but if i got a half cut, would it be possible, or finacially smart to try to use the parts to make it 4WD? Been done before?

I'm looking at doing an RB26DETT, hehe, good way for me to waste the bucks. I guess it's just that i want a twin turbo with a bit of speed, without having to do mods. Cause if i keep the mods to the minimum hopefully i can keep the reliabillity up.
  9. My patrol had an RB30, but it was a '90 model. I got a book somewhere (If only i could find it) Which has specs of most models of the patrol released, dating back to the first release. Wish i could find the damn thing

Yeah it is, but you don't know what else is missing they haven't mentioned. And the pictures are all basic exterior ones

I can. My idea of putting fat flares and then 10" back wheels... Glad i was talked out of that one!

Restore, and then customize. The restore part is what i need the most help with though.

Just wondering if there is anywhere on this site/forum where someone has written something like a diary explaining the process they took doing up their Zed. I tried to look but couldn't find a single thread or page where someone's written it all from start to finish. Is there one on here? If so what do i search for? And is there any anyone else knows about on other sites?
  16. I think that although it might not save a lot, having horsepower restrictions is an achievable goal. But i agree with Gee. Most P-platers have the shittiest cars, cause it's too dear to get decent ones with decent safety features. One guy on 60 minutes suggested computers that do speed limiters for each road you're on, which i don't think is such a bad idea. Stops speeding altogether.
  17. Yeah sorry that was jsut the one point i wanted to discuss But i agreed with everything the "german dude" said. I drive a mitsubishi mirage atm, and it's got $^!# all power. But i tell you what it's more than enough for me. I've crashed my parents brand new XR6 cause i couldn't take the power, and i'm not afraid to admit it, i put my foot down like i can in my mirage and next thing i know i've fishied down the road and straight through a garden bed. The power thing is a big one
  18. Not 100% accurate. The government lets 18 year olds go to war. And my sister served in the solomons and afghan not too long ago when she was only 17, has the medals to prove it. So yeah, like everything else, just cause the government says it... I agree with what everyone says about driver training. Made me think of Q-ride you can do for your bike liscence, where it's competncy based testing. Might be an idea. Also sorta off on another tangent. In the car section in saturday's townsville bulletin there was this thing from a german roads dude, who was saying that fatalities on our motorways and highways could be reduced by easing up on the speed limit, raising it to say 140km/h, and being less strict on it. Because he says we come from a society now where we're too busy worrying about our speed and watching that, that we forget to worry about driving the car well. On the eurpean autobahns, they go whatever speed they feel comfortable, but they do it well because they focus everything on driving, not on watching to dash gauges every 2 seconds. Just a though.
  19. I just watched the article on 60 Minutes about applying more restrictions to P platers in australia. There aree talks to have a 10pm to 5am no driving curfew, and to not allow p-platers to have passengers that are either not on their opens or under 20. I for one think this is bullshit, especially the passenger bit. I know that i for one work a job where sometimes i don't start or finish until midnight, and i don't expect my mother to take me to or pick me up from work. Plus the fact that i enjoy going out at night. Just looking for points of views on the subject!

So do you guys think i should get like either 15x7 front and 15x8 rear, or just 15x8 both? I really did want the 15x10's for rear Would be sweet to have fat as wheels
  22. MickieB posted a post in a topic in Australia & NZ
Thanks for the info man. The range i'm looking at comes in 15x4, 15x7, 15x8, 15x10, 16x10. So what would you guys recommend? Maybe i guess 15x8 at the front? I just don't think it would be possible to steer 10's without power steering
  23. MickieB posted a post in a topic in Australia & NZ
Does anyone know a company that will do like different width for front and back but same size sorta thing? Like i want something like 15x6 for front, and 15x10 for back. But everywhere i've seen, if you want thinner ones they're also smaller mags, so it'd make the car look a bit odd. And i don't think i could steer 15x10's on the front without power steering Ok sorry i take all that back, i just found a place that you can get good mags and in the sizes i want http://www.performancewheels.com.au/classic.htm#classic the challenger wheel down the bottom right. I love it P.S. Thanks for the reference halz!

I got the flares lined up already from a place in townsville. Just looking for the mags really. Thanks for the help guys!

Yeah i'll be getting flares. I love the look
