  2. sounds like the perfect thing to dip a car in anyone got a pool handy?

nice, thanks for that.. i always guessed that they must have changed the colour on later engines.. and now i know my engine was powdercoated in a wrinkle finish, but not to the dark grey level where it is greenish (it is hard to see from photo's), but i am happy with the way it turned out of course.. it isn't an S20, now that would be something! what is the engine like? is it revvy? low end grunty? lumpy? how does it compare to a mildly worked L28?

here's the inspiration.. speaking of which.. does anyone know why some S20's have red cam covers as oppose to grey/
  5. on the painting course they suggested using the new type of poly based bogs.. loads easier to sand than the cheap nasty stuff.. i bought a 1L tub of it.. then when i got home i compared the label to the 1.5L tub of Davids P38 i bought from PPC.. they look identical.. so i am expecting the sanding to be magically easy (especially when i make the girlfriend do most of it!.. it's only fair.. she did some of the stripping!). I am really still aiming for finishing in 2010.. but i am not 100% sure i will make it.. the next year is shaping up to be quite busy already the sooner i can get the GT together and out of the way the sooner i can get onto the bodywork!
  6. deal easy winnings considering i already have my "base" coat.. just joking.. yeah not looking forward to it.. i know it is going to be bad.. like teh stripping was.. but somehow i have convinced myself that wasn't so bad really.. so either will this be.. honestly, if i was in a position to be able to spend $15k on the paint i would have, especially as i am kind of hoping to have a showroom (or should i say show considering how bad some cars are out of the factory) finish.. hopefully i won't be too disapointed
  7. congratulations mate, i know it wasn't as much as it deserved, but hopefully the sale makes a difference don't forget to pass on the forum to the new owner and make sure you don't loose touch 9 i am sure you wil be back with some form of skyline.. maybe the R32 (my offer still stands, i am happy to try and help get you parts for it!)
  8. no, unfortunately it didn't.. the guy reckons he had it, but it was miss placed during all the moves he made.. I am pretty certain the GT will remain stock (and eventually get restored).. i did have an offer for $6k for one of my cars, in which case i was goign to move all my stuff into the GT and keep that.. but surprisingly (not..) the guy was all talk (luckily i hadn't started moving anything). i think i have 2 weeks of welding, bogging and sanding ahead of me
  9. i am joking of course.. i have to get th GT back together asap so i have room to work on the 240K now my engine is looking all pretty i want to get her fired up too (hopefully over xmas i can get a long way into the bodywork)
  10. have you bought it yet.. something about the pic of the twin turbo VH45.. hmm.. i do have the GT just sitting there at the moment without an engine

then why do you want skyline badges? the datsun 240K is an early 70's model nissan skyline (you didn't get them in the US).. if only they were worth $240k

into a 240K? or 240Z... would be interested to hear about your car if it is a 240 K..

standard cross member works fine (using the RB25/26 rubber isolators), just have to fabricate some mounts and a gearbox mount.. of course you need a custom length tail shaft too..

i think the standard may even be an 8" (it looks a lot smaller than mine!).. Stewart Wilkins used the R30 mounting bracket as well (some modifications were made to the firewall to mount it, with a brace buillt behind it).. but it just clears the standard clutch cylinder (not sure if i am going to upgrade that as well) http://www.project240k.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=858

  17. khughes replied to khughes's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
Haha.. after a statement like that i feel the urge to tub the car

Well finally, it is all back together, very happy with the colour scheme (guess the theme?!) what do you think?

Do we have any 240K guys still in melbourne? I was talking to Dan (Kproject) over email today, and perhaps it is time that we put our orders together into 1 big order.. chances are that Phil may actually find the time (especially if it is worthwhile for him). If we were given the oportunity, can everyone post here what they would buy.. we can get our numbers together, and hopefully find a melb. person to handle the pickup of them all (i think postage and handling is part of the issue with challenge) I would definately be in for a GT-R Grill Kent

are there any skyline shops (no idea who now motorex are gone), that you could notify to see if any of their customers are looking?
  22. khughes replied to kpgc110racer's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
what are you looking for pricewise for them?
  23. khughes replied to bonzelite's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
that is a huge shame.. considering how $$$ and rare the R32's are there.. i would have thought racing (Drag or track) ppl would have been all over it! There is some discussion on Hybridz in the RB forum about a guy wanting to do a GTR drivetrain in a Z.. maybe you can convince him it is a good idea
  24. if only!
  25. opps.. i am watching it .. it was really wierd to think of it when i first saw the pictures of it sitting at Brian's place.. to think that "my" (using the term very loosely ) car was half way around the world.. makes the world feel like a mighty small place! btw. the rear brakes on the car are completely new (new cylinders and new drums).. battery was also brand new, carpet is brand new and of course it had a full fluid change before it left (so auto trans fluid etc.) oh and new mirrors
