Big job ahead
my advice would be to speak to an engineer first before laying down cash on your engine components.. people on the internet make the RB30/26 conversion sound easy.. but that doesn't mean it is legal especially in NSW.. i believe to get it engineered you would have to go through a whole slew of EPA tests and then have the passing tune locked into the ECU so it can't be modified etc.. not exactly a cheap option.. that is why i decided against doing it.. maybe you would be better starting with a v8 or a v6 NA and keeping it relatively standard.. of course this wouldn't matter if it is for off road use.. would be a waste of the car though but i have said this before.. so.. i would recommend you look up the RTA website and find their "guidelines to light vehicle modifications" document.. it is a starting point on what you can and can't do good luck

if it was bad language and that language wasn't tolerated on this forum, then why would he publicly repeat it?

datsun 240K carpet kit
just sent em another email.. fingers crossed (again), hopefully now we know they sold it 2 years ago.. they may find it.. mastadd, are you sure you didn't use the C210 one? they list it on their site as 240k (but year is 78+)

Steering rack upgrades?
no i'm afraid not.. it is C210 power steering, which is still a box unless there is a real easy replacement, i probably won't bother until after the car is on the road (and i can see how bad this one is)

datsun 240K carpet kit
i am going to get the C210 skyline carpet from tru-fit.. I bought a set from them around 4 years ago at summernats, and they were really good! they don't specifically list the 240K now, but from everything i have read C210 should fit (and i presume that is what i had, there would be no reason for them to stop selling c110 ones!). if only i was at that stage so i could confirm do not buy the ones from ebay either.. but i have already said that

any idea which nissan dealer or the part number? The number i have from the parts manual is 74963-S0102 but Mildren Nissan here in artarmon reckon that Nissans part system doesn't recognise it (or any other 240k parts i have given them)

thought you all would be interested in this pic Fits well, my only fitting problem (other than having to modify the front turbo's oil line to clear the mounts) is that the standard oil pressure sensor is to close to the power steering pump.. so i will have to relocate that I am going to keep the RB26 sump (the custom rb25 one i have is crap anyway and didn't fit the RB25 let alone the RB26!), so i have marked up the RB25 sump, and i will have to find somebody skiled at aluminimum welding to hack and slash the sump for me. unfortuantely don't get too excited, the engine is only in for a test fitting to make sure it fits ok, it isn't quite ready to fire up yet

registering a car with missing plates
Hi Guys, does anybody know if a car (NSW if it makes a difference), can be registered again, if it doesn't have it's Australian compliance plates? it was road registered around 5 years ago.. but since then the plates were taken off to have the car painted, then they were lost.. The car is my "parts" car, but it is honestly in pretty good condition, i hate the thought that it will eventually become scrap (though it would be good for racing if only i had the room to store it!

quality of the Fibregalss is pretty good, certainly as good if not better than the ones out of japan (i oroginally brought them in from japan, and challange fixed them up, straightened them and made the moulds).. unfortunately you will have a very hard and expensive time trying to get better from japan. Even yahoo auctions has been pretty light on good bits lately.. i am still trying to track down a few bits and pieces.. some bits i think, may end up being getting made up here. I originally went down the path of an RB30DET.. i had all the bits.. but in the end, i want to road register my car, so decided against it.. if you want an NA one, then you are best putting an RB30E in the car, get it engineered, then maybe look at replacing the head.. not legal.. but i am pretty sure that is how all the VL guys get away with it.. though.. you still have legal and insurance problems that way. or.. do the full mod and get it engineered with full EPA etc it would be the only way to do it properly.. but good luck you may be better going old school.. stay with an L series, get an L28, bore it out and get tripple webers.. you can get pleny of HP out of the old L blocks.. probably much better bang for your buck too.. don't suppose you are any good at welding?

Gearstick rubber surround
Hi Guys, believe it or not, but none of the cars that i have, actually came with the rubber boot for the gear stick.. can anyone supply me with a pic of the correct manual one for the C110 if anyone has a pic of an original gearstick leather boot that would be helpfull too.. wishfull thinking i know.. but i need to start looking for when i eventually get around to doing the interior (for the 240K GT and the 240K)

Big job ahead
Hi Mate, congrats on the purchase.. hopefully it hasn't got too much rust in it (they usually do though unfortunately!).. what are the plans for the car? do a search on here for the overfenders, grill etc.. there is a place in melbourne that makes them.. they do take a while though, but they are the only ones here in australia. Unfortunately for the badges, lights etc.. you gotta be lucky (and pay through the nose sometimes) and go through somebody in japan and yahoo auctions. Kent

Instrument Panel Modification
you need to have a look at your new sender and see what that specifies. did you get any baffling put into the tank while it was apart? i bought a 73 empty -10 full autometer 4715 carbon one (for ford/chrysler), i havn't tested it though to see how accurate it is.. i probably should but i havn't.. i can't remember why i didn't go with 0-90.. there must have been another post about it on here.. i guess i really should test that or maybe i have already, and completely forgotten about it.. i swear i have a 3kb brain!

very true.. piping is going to be tight as it already is! somehow i don't think i am going to get everything behind the bumper/grill as hidden as i would have liked (ie. completely GT-R standard).
