sorry my bad, i saw the rust in the rear door jam picture and wrongly concluded you had a coupe and that the rear quarter had been unpicked.. been a while since i have seen sedan I may have missed it, but what paint did you use on the crossmember and struts?
  2. khughes replied to tez240k's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
if you have the time could you put up a photo of that whole rear quarter without the skin? really interest for planning on how to cut in flares more cleanly! Kent

Geez, at those prices maybe i shouldn't have thrown out a lot of the trashy pieces i did when i had to downsize...
  4. ooh me too i will always be up for a new set of clips.. I am not looking forward to the day i need to actually find the clips around the rear window
  5. waiting patiently for the holy grail of colour codes

I recognise 90% of the parts in the following photo.. but what are the 2 strips on the bottom right?

wow, that first pic is almost surreal! great colour! not great quality.. but my car when it was a little younger (not me ) only including it because it's old school
  8. very nice work, i may have asked previously, but what colour red did you use? the original colour code red?
  9. khughes replied to Noddle's post in a topic in 240K Skyline

"coupe with plenty of rust im a panel beater an painter so no big deal to me but to someone else it may not be for you" you would think if it wasn't such a big deal, he would invest the time and effort to fix up the rust, then sell it primed anywhere north of $4k. or... maybe it is so bad, it isn't worthwhile even for a panelbeater

if only i hadn't epoxied my bottom, i would have seriously considered throwing the car on the trailer and getting the bottom, rails and inside powdercoated!! i will have a look over the next couple of weekends (only because i have a weekend or 2 of moving stuff around to actually get at the car and parts!) at the stuff and see if i can work out what it would cost to ship to brisbane and back!

and don't forget to create a build thread

Nice and congratulations!! Another Red GT-R, i am hoping to finally get some colour down on mine this year.. i am a little embarrassed that i have been working on my car for so long and many have gotten so far ahead now! I am going as close as i can externally to a GT-R with magnesium polished wat's.. my interior is going to be stripped out street (atleast that is the best way i can describe it.. sport seats, 1/2 cage no back seat etc. - it is tempting to overdo the electronics though..)

yeah as in it is not going to flake\scratch off after being hit with a rock.

nice work, i am seriously considering getting all my drivetrain crossmembers etc all black powder coated for chip resistance.. I was going to just paint with POR15 black, but i am not 100% confident that it will stick on some of the smooth metal (such as the rear diff xmember), and i don't have the capability to sand blast myself any more. I am sure the shipping cost between sydney-brisbane will probably be prohibitive though especially with the rear A-Arms (but anything is possible if it all works out cheaper)... Do you think they would be capable of powder coating brake calipers and that sort of stuff (probably in brembo style red, or a titanium type colour to match the wheels)?
  16. figured so, fingers crossed hoybo will come through.. I am a long way off that yet, but when i goto the distributor (alto spares in north ryde) for my dupont 2 pak for the inside and bottom of the car, i will ask them who i should go see to get it worked out (i don't think they will do it, though they do match paint so who knows). Will try to find someone and take in the original GT-R grill and the NOS GT-R rear panel, and see if they do match. I am likely going to paint flares in the same colour, and at worst, will need to touchup the small amount of rust on my grill, so i will need to deal with it at some stage, my only concern is that the grill paint seems to be a metallic flake
  17. Hi Guys (Adzmax and Hoybo in particular), did anyone manage to dig up a matching colour code for the grill? I have been slowly getting back into researching paint for my car, one of the sidetracks i took was looking into spectrophotometer's (paint matching via photo samples with a machine), maybe there is somewhere here in sydney that will be able to match a paint code from my original grill (assuming Adzmax no longer has any paint on his, otherwise maybe there is somewhere in melbourne too?!) googling to see if i can come across anyone who does.. but assuming any of the machines from the big refinish brands should do a comparable match..

here's a few i have saved off I have the NOS one with the exh warning lights saved off under a kpgc110 directory, but i havn't cross checked the part number on the box to verify it though.. It looks factory and brushed just may not be from a GT-R dash1.bmp dash2.bmp

My grill has some minor rust on it as well (and that cost me over $1k a couple of years back!), the issue for me is finding a similar colour touch up paint, i would rather that than a full respray as the rest is in good original condition.

That is an awesome job on the SS, considering the state they were in before, hats off!! looks like the car is almost done! i am seriously jealous, you've done such a great job! once i manage to paint the bottom of my car, and get it off the rotisserie, and therefore have a bit more room, i will dig out those wheels and come and visit (yes, i know i have promised it before.. but i will get there!) Kent

I reckon it is awesome! most of the car's look intact and atleast he has pretty decent newish covers on them (except the first one).. that would probably be how my backyard would have looked if i had kept all mine
  23. khughes replied to Adzmax's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
If you get a colour code on this can you let me know? it some point i need to repair and repaint my NOS GTR front grill (it has a little rust), pretty sure this paint colour should match (though havn't had them both out and side by side to be honest).
  24. Congrats! great find! I know exactly the feelings of anticipation, trepidation, and finally relief/joy that you when't through when finding, taking the punt and finally seeing the car! That is a big part of the adventure after all! you don't happen to live in NSW do you? we certainly need more 240k's here!

sorry, as blk180 said, he has it now.. I still do have the intake manifold and carby (which needs some work) lying around.. anyone building an L24 who wants a better flowing intake manifold?
