Just a quick update guys, I bought an imported Skyline DR30 rear end (crossmember, half shafts, disks, dust plates and a single caliper ) from a parts importer for AU$350. The only thing i really scored from this was the 2nd hand rotors, a really bent set of dust covers and a single DR30 caliper and handbrake cable. hopefully the rest can be sold off to R30 skyline ppl I will be swapping the halfshafts for a DR30 1" Master cylinder and booster though, so that is nice The early DR30 rear bracket calipers were bolted onto the hub, whilst later on they were welded on, so i grabbed a new set of brake caliper mounts from nissan (around $140 a side). i havn't test fitted it all yet, but i am hopign this will allow me to bolt the complete DR30 stuff together onto my 240k A friend of mine, convinced me that the DR30 rear brakes should be sufficient to stop the car, since in japan they upgrade the fronts of DR30's to GTR brakes (i am going to use similar R34 GTT ones), and leave the rears stock. My car is lighter than a DR30 so i should be okay the rear disks will be 258mmx10mm solids
  2. Okay... progress so far!!! I managed to pick up a set of Aussie Z31 half shafts (4 bolt flanges) and late 260Z stub axles (around AU$400 delivered). They should be delivered some time next week i hope. I will need to recondition the halfshafts, i have the Nissan part numbers for replacement boots, but can't find the part number for the bearing/cage). The plan is now to get the Modern motorsports adaptors (or a locally produced set), and shorten the shafts by reversing the bearing cage in the shafts. The 240K and 240Z/260Z track is close enough that it should all fit in (assuming that the stub axles fit, which i think will) finally i feel like i am getting somewhere!

Jim, i just happen to have an RB30 block, and an RB25de head (all stripped and ready to be cleaned and modded)
  4. apparently the spoilers and the grill arrived at home today.. wohoo! Bruce, can you pm me the guy's details so i can contact him regarding this all going ahead (unless you have dealt with him prevously, in which case i am more than happy to let you handle it, just as long as he doesn't destroy my parts!) i will post some pics tonight for you all!
  5. Well Guys!!!!! fantastic news!!! my KPGC110 fibreglass replica grill and front/rear spoiler has touched down in sydney (THANKS SOOOOO MUCH MILES!), and i am just holding my breath until Australia Post delivers! when i get hold of them, i will take some photo's and then start arranging to get them sent off to a fibreglasser (probably the guy in melbourne) to make moulds. I am not sure if he will be doing the front grill (i assume it is going to be quite awkward), but maybe i should start getting a show of hands to who wants what, I am afraid that this guy may not get around to making the moulds for ages unless there is some interest, and i want to get them back sooner rather than later for painting! so the more interest, the faster he can organise it?? not sure how we would go about this? either deal with him direct, or maybe as a group buy if someone wants to organise it the reason for using the guy in melbourne, is then we have a one stop place to go for all parts. Front lip spolier : 2 Rear wing spoiler : 3 GTR replica grill : 3 (assuming this gets copied) Don't ask me about prices, i havn't even spoken to the guy about it yet (but he has been warned this will happen by bruce).

wow, $2025, not bad considering the condition it looks to be in.. it might be time to dust off the 240k coupe i was going to use as a rally car and put that up!
  7. did you have to reverse the ends on the half shafts (to make them shorter), if so, don't suppose you have any instructions on this?
  8. where did you get the adaptor plates from? if it saves me shipping to/from the states it will make life a lot easier! (especially if Modern Motorsports keeps ignoring ALL my emails) i managed to get a set of Z31 shafts (though they seemd to think they were non-turbo with 4 bolts) and late 260z stub axles and comp flanges
  9. could be i don't know if there would be enough of us for a really good price (unless anybody knows any other really good custom radiator joint owners personally ) it is going to be pretty thick (maybe even 100mm) though probably 3 or 4 core, not really suitable unles your running electric fans, probably only good to those of us doing a conversion. i am running an intercooler in front of mine, so i need much better cooling. I can't say i know much about radiators and ideal thicknesses etc. but when i speak to them i will let you all know. i will post up what i think the measurements will be once i get my engine mounted properly and know what i have to work with (couple of weeks i am hoping)
  10. That is the one! I think as long as they can measure up the size of the radiator, and see the mounting bracket locations, then that would be fine. It doesn't have to be done immediatly, as i need to get my engine brought forward and see exactly how thick i can go with the radiator. If that is okay with you, i will ring them up in a couple of weeks (probably closer to a month when i know my measurements) and let them know you will drop around at some stage. can you pm me your email address? much appreciated! saves me a huge amount of messing around
  11. the original owner of the car must have been the owner of a chocolate company based in sydney (James's chocolate or something, from memory). I found it in the owners wallet, along with the reciept between the original owner, and the 2nd owner... it was incredibly lucky, as the 2nd owner (well, his son) on his reciept to me, wrote down the wrong engine number.. luckily, i had the original owners details in the manual (along with the proper engine number), the reciept from the 1st owner to the 2nd, and then my reciept... the RTA guy was quite impressed with the fact i had all that info on hand, as well as the car being owned by that chocolate company (apparently they were his favourite when he was young) i love the history that these cars bring up!
  12. one of my 240k's came with the original owners birth certificate (in german), beat that

i like how the guy selling that car points out he painted over the rust i am sure that isn't what he intended, but it made for funny reading!
  14. khughes replied to No Idea's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
yep, i still have the torana wing here.. make an offer around $50 and it is yours it needs to be shortened a little, thread is here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21303 there is certainly a lot of potential for the 240k's i am more excited about my 240k than i was with my R33 GT-R, and the 240K isn't even on the road yet!!!
  15. they also told me that the (australian i assume) Z31 non turbo had a 4 bolt flange and the turbo had a 5 bolt flange.. is this completely wrong? it seems to be based on all the US info i have read (6 bolt flange for N/A, 4 bolt for Turbo)
  16. I have to admit, i have very little knowledge about these things, i am far from a mechanic, but i am trying to learn (and save money where i can) as i go! I had a look into track widths, as i assume this would be a very good indicator of wether the CV shafts would fit without being cut, i got as follows: C110 240K : 1340mm 260Z / 240Z: 1346mm C210 Skyline: 1354mm 280ZX: 1390mm DR30 skyline: 1395mm 84 Z31 T: 1430mm so presumably the 260Z would be the closest for me (and they are of the same era, so hopefully the stub axles will slot in easily) or possibly the Z31 shafts with the needed shortening modification (as if to fit the 260Z). I sent an email to Zspares here in australia, and from what i can gather; - Australia only had Z31 non-turbos, but the CV half shafts had 4 bolts (so i need these) - later 260Z's had 27 spline stub axles (but are they the stronger ones like the 280Z ones?)

so can the short nose R200 kaaz diff be used in a longnose? i did a quick search on the net (esp. in australia) and coldn't find any model numbers or suppliers

just report him to ebay.. that is BS. he should look at putting it on a ship and sending it to antarctica... i heard from a very reliable source that the penguins there will pay more than AU$200,000 for a good condition 240K!

Hi Brian, sending you a PM now Kent
  20. khughes replied to vdp's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
your right, if the original seller had let the auction continue he would have made at least $3500 from me.. oh well.. i put that $3500 to a much better use
  21. khughes replied to vdp's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
$4500!? he as absolutely dreaming... if you look hard enough, you could find a descent example here for around $2500! it is just a matter of time. and as for selling it to japan, as Miles said, i think he is going to get a pretty rude shock after it gets shipped there... there is a reason cars sell cheaply as exports.. 9am is a bit too early for me,
  22. khughes replied to vdp's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
yeah i don't mind, i am up that way working on my engine anyway. i will contat him and try to get an address! i will let you know
  23. khughes replied to vdp's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
so what your saying miles is that the seller is a stones wannabe (and collector) who wishes to drive around in a 240k dressed in a leather police womans outfit whilst tying himself/herself to the nice leather seats... but surely that describes most of us here
  24. Hi Guys do we have any 240K members in melbourne? i know bruce has moved up from there. I need to get a replacement radiator made up by a company called "desert coolers" in melbourne, apparently they are very very good. I have spoken to them and i need to get a standard 240K radiator to them, and i was wondering if anyone is in melbourne that has either a spare radiator that they could lend to desert coolers while they make mine up, or can take a 240k there so they can measure it up for me. i am trying to avoid the hassle of having to post a heavy radiator to them there is no hurry by the way
  25. khughes replied to khughes's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
I Think John Ellis was there (i only spoke to 1 of the prince guys really), i heard his name mentioned a few times, i think his car was a light blue one in original condition? Lachlan and Jim would know for sure
