well, i got my mechanic mate to make up the engine mounts on the weekend, and it has changed quite substantially.. he mounted it a lot lower, and a little more forward, so that there is around 2 inches between teh cam cover and the firewall. This meant that the gearbox mount had to be modified substantially, it is now a sort of u shape i didn't get a chance to get any photo's but i will when i can

not at all, it sits well below the top of the cam shaft covers, but it does taper back to the back of the engine by about another inch http://road.project240k.com/Engine/Plenum/remove.htm

yeah the the top half of the inlet piping isn't on it (but i think it would be very very close), i am going to use a greddy intake plenum (front facing), and front mount an R32 GT-R intercooler on the front. the stock plenum is only there so i wouldn't scratch up my shiny new one with moving the engine around

mine didn't have any spacers on them, but i have 6 of them if they are the same, you can have one of them (mind you i did paint it gold to match the others), no useable tyre on it though

yes yes, i know... i was um... referring to the maker of the engine.... with the amount of cross factory parts swapping happening these days, it will probably never be the same again!
  9. hi guys, sorry to dredge up an old post, but i have been told that i need to get the 15/16" master cylinder from a 280Z, i assume that this would be the 1979-1982 280ZX??? did it come on any other 280Z? all the ones i can find online seem to be all 7/8" ones does anybody have a part number?

well guys, i just have to say, it continues to amaze me how easily 1990's components fit onto our beloved 240k's! this coming weekend i am planing on taking the road car to a mechanic friend to do some fabrication etc, things like mounting the R200 Diff, recaro SR3 seats onto the factory rails, and mounting the rb25DET engine and gearbox (along with intercooler, radiator supports etc..) since i have to hire a car trailer for the transport, i figured i would have to try my best to get the engine, gearbox and all the bits i would need atleast in the chassis for transport.. so i spent a couple of hours on the weekend manuvouring the engine/box into place, and bugger me... it looks like the gearbox will fit straight upto the 240k crossmember (just need to enlarge the 2 holes on the xmember), and i even managed to shoehorn the engine mounts into the holes on the engine gearbox (not that it is perfect, as one of the insulating rubber is on the wrong way around), but i can't believe how it fits, almost as if it was planned from the factory!!! the engine even seems to have good clearance all around (even height wise) heres a tempter for the coming weekend, it will be in properly come sunday (wohoo!)

Hi Jim, a bit off topic, but i don't suppose that your manual (or brilliant archives of documentation) would happen to have paint codes in it would it? i am looking for the code of the original KPGC110 red Kent

guys.. i have had a huge about face on the colour i made the mistake of studying the C110 GT-R in Gran Tourismo 4 on the PS2, and you can get the car in silver, white and red... although it isn't hugely realistic but the red looked fantastic compared to the other colours... especially with the black fenders/mirrors etc. so i am pretty keen on the original red colour... does anyone have any leads on how i could find out the original C110 2000GTR red colour code?

Bruce, any more news yet? i am itching to get hold of a spoiler before i get the car painted, probably next month
  16. khughes replied to 240K&Beyond's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
Hi Bruce, i already have a set of fenders, just need the rear and front spoilers
  17. khughes replied to khughes's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
yeah i am still 90% sure i am going to go with the S15 Silver, only because now i have my engine painted sand brown (meant to be gold), it looks so good against the S15 Silver engine bay! so i am looking at S15 silver, with black GTR fenders, Black mirrors and charcoal coloured 16x7 SL15 superlites (assuming an ET12 and backspace of 112mm fits)

thanks guys... so to summarise, i should look into: Roll Cage - Full or half Seam weld engine bay Seam weld strut towers, chassis rails triangular strut brace between struts and firewall Cap chassis frame rails (11-12gauge steel) Brace between front of chassis rails x-brace between rear struts, create firewall between cabin and rear possibly reinforce chassis rails possibly reinforce seat cross rails all sounds $$$ guess i should start making some metal worker mates! Yep the RB26 is a fantastic engine, i miss my R33 GTR this R25 hybrid is just going to have to do me now! (although it will probably easily end up costing me the price of an R32 GTR)
  19. khughes replied to 240K&Beyond's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
i am definately in for the front and/or rear spoilers.. no matter the cost okay.. not if they are rediculous!
  20. khughes replied to khughes's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
to start off i am not opening her up, so it will start off with the standard RB25 (series 1 with steel turbo), with the addition of the greddy plenum, top mount fuel rail and 600cc nismo GTR injectors, splitfire coils, lightened flywheel, powerfc, running higher boost etc... I just want to get the engine in and working whilst doing easy upgrades as i can for the long term. and when it is all fitted and the car almost finished (hopefully if i it hasn't sent me bankrupt by then), i will be replacing the bottom of the engine with a RB30E block and a GT35R turbo and some cams. The plan is also to put a half roll cage in (apparently they are road legal, wheras the full ones arn't), just doing some research now into other body strengthening methods such as seam welding and strengthening, though i don't want it to blow out too much, the car is already way more expensive than i ever would have imagined (isn't it always!)
  21. khughes replied to khughes's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
KGC210, I have been thinking about body twist etc lately, and to be honest i have no idea how they strengthen cars like this (i am far from a mechanic, this is my little project).. i expect to be putting out around 300kw at the wheels at the end of the project, so i think it is probably going to be needed.. any idea's who would do this sort of thing? a body shop? engineer? thanks alfa, it looked a little brown out of the engine bay, but i think it should be fine surounded by sparkly S15 silver

  24. khughes replied to khughes's post in a topic in 240K Skyline
it was meant to be a gold powdercoat, but it is more of a sand colour, looks okay when held next to the silver engine bay however.

well, i got my RB25 engine cam covers and my brand new greddy intake plenum powdercoated over teh last few days... it is startng to look pretty good now, still a lot of work to get it in the bay though.. still got to get a fuel rail and FPR and my 300ZX brakes refreshed before the car goes in to get the engine, RB25DET box, R200 Diff, 300ZX front calipers, R31 rear calipers and my Recaro seats all mounted hopefully it should happen sometime in the next month... (here's hoping!) just need to find some money for a stinking big turbo
